Multiple calls where no one talks; then they hang up. Today, Robert said hello.  Maryland Comptroller's Office re employee withhold taxes.  Provided another number to call back.  Said the automatic dialer dials about seven numbers and they talk to the first one that answers and hang up on the others.  Seems a weird approach but it is unclear to me yet if this is totally legit or not. Maybe it is legit.  But it still seems weird to me.

Received a call from (410) 767-3000. They left a message however it was so low and had a lot of static till nothing could be heard.

in my case it was unemployment for the state of MD

I ran this number through a paid service I have. it came back as a Verizon number registered to a person in edgewood md. , along with other numbers both landline and mobile.   I don't believe any of it from md.    the state and fed will send you a snail  mail advising you of the problem and a number, address and some cases a contact person. I have dealt with the state and fed before both for taxes and other reasons. they contact me by usps. if very important registered usps. I have also rec surveys in the mail, if it was required and I ignored them they sent someone to knock on my door till they found me.   they tell you this on radio and tv programs to avoid fraud and scams.  if the state or fed has your number, they have your address to contact you by usps..  deal with these people at your own risk..  I WILL NOT!!!!

I am trying to call back but its says no working number

Yes...so  1 410 767 4679 is affilated with some company claiming to be Md Home owners tax credit..off???? and they speak fast, with heavy accent can not even understand what they are saying. However, it appears to be a scam claiming they help you pay property taxes?   But the numb is related to 410-767-3000

This is a legitimate State number but it's a generic switchboard number so it could be any one of a bunch of offices. My call today was from the MTA and as related to a complaint I made last week/

This number 410-767-3000 has been calling 4 times already this morning , and they "click" or hang up when I answer.  I answered "what do you need? and they clicked the phone.  The first time I answered the  automated reply said "this is a non-working number).  Don't these people have anything else to do besides calling and hanging up.  Don't they have anything else do besides harassing people and they get paid for it.
