Yep got the same call asking for my disabled wife by the wrong last name said they were from the IRS, with a lot of background noise of other Indian people talking. As soon as I asked him to talk to me since I am a co-filer, he hung up.   I called back got an indian woman gave them the phone number, she too  said she needed to speak to my disabled wife, again I said the same thing, she said sorry and hung up.  For the next 10 mins I continued to redial them they would pickup and hangup without saying a word. Then got a v-mail that said to leave a message.   By the way, since when is the IRS open on a Saturday???  That was fun!! Scammers LOL

I received this call and could barely understand the message.  It appeared to be a computer modified voice and claimed to be James Martin (Heavy middle east accent).

I am an attorney and I do not owe any taxes.  I have not owed taxes for years because I have a lot of kids and other deductions.

When I called back the mailbox was full.  This does appear to be very suspicious.  I am glad to hear that so many people are questioning what is going on.  You should always verify the facts before you believe anyone who is calling you. It makes me sad that people will steal and take advantage of others using fear in this way.

some f*cking clown called my phone with an accent you could barely understand, had to listen to the message like five times before i could decipher what he was saying, saying dont try to disregard this message or face legal repercussions. I called the number back and it went to a voicemail that was full and wasnt receiving messages at the time. I know the IRS will send you a bill if its an issue with your taxes.  Decided to google the number to find that its a scam like i suspected. Dude get a f*cking real job you d*ck phuc

I received a call from the same number today (April 28, 2014).  I hardly understood his message as his accent was so heavy.   All I understood was "... Litigation.... Before taking legal action...".  I called him back and ended with "voice box full...".

Thanks for the previous posting.  I could ignore it.

More phoney baloney from some dumb-a** foreigner.  I love this crap but I don't think that I'll waste any money to buy infor about who owns the number and where they are located.  I has a scammer trying to buy a car I had advertised.  We got down to an actual name and US address where I was supposed to forward the shipping costs.  I communicated to him that I was afraid that he might be a victim of fraud and that there just happened to be an FBI office in the town where the funds were to be forwarded.  As a service to him, I was going to ask the FBI to check out the fund recipient to protect him and his hard earned money.  Oops!  Never heard back from him.  Unappreciative idiot!!!!!

Received this at 11:30 am today. Very strong accent "Reed Davis" - not sure I heard right. but they did get our  right last name. "Do not try to ignore this call..." Tax Litigation Dept super hot line to this #!  I wonder if this is the scam where you receive calls from even your own local area code, but many are from out of town from mine, where when you do call back - it's an overseas # & you get charged the overseas calling rate. If anyone has called back do check your bill next month or call your carrier to see if a charge appeared. But I advise not calling back - good ole voice mail machine!!

Rec'd a call from this number, did not answer so he left a message saying he was Dustin Johnson and from the tax litigation office and that I must return this call or go to jail.  There was a deficiency on my taxes and to return this call.  Of course I did not call back.  In about an hour I received the same call and answered it.  A heavy foreign accent said he was Dustin Johnson and that I was in legal trouble with my taxes.  He asked for my attorney's name and I told him I had already contacted my attorney re: his message and he was contacting IRS on my behalf.  I also told him that I had contacted law enforcement and had given them his name and his number and that they also would be contacting him.  I told him not to contact me again.  He insisted on having my attorney's number so I gave him the number for the local sheriff's office.  He will get a surprise if he calls them.  Really, a name like Dustin Johnson, with an accent like that!!!  Give me a break.  This is a scam folks.  Don't fall for it.

He called me as well asking for my attorney's name for an IRS case.  I had no idea what he was talking about.  Unfortunately I got rid of my caller id so I don't know the number that he was calling me from.  He told me to call Michael Carter at the irs and then he gave me the number and hung up.  He even gave me a case number.  It was interesting how quick he was willing to hang up.  His accent was very thick and he sounded Indian, or Iranian or Arabian. Sorry I don't know the difference in the accents.

The Caller identified himself as  Justin Johnson with the IRS,  (had a very thick accent)   He claimed that we owed a tax penialty because of a miscalculation.   When I started to quiz him about who he was, what branch office he was at all he would say is he was from California, the Golden Gate IRS office and kept giving me a phone number (same one he was calling on) to reach the Officer handling my case.
The name of the Officer he gave was Micheal Carter
He gave me a badge number (64397)
I kept quizzing him about what his job title and what IRS branch he was calling from,  basically just trying to keep him on the phone as long as I could.   He started acting nervous and then said "you just need to call Micheal Carter"  and then hung up
This is clearly a phone scam - its been in the local news a couple of times

Thank you so much for your valuable information. I hope all of us follow through with your recommended  actions.

I received two messages from  the same unintelligible caller this afternoon.  He called for me by name and identified himself as "David Clark."   My name is only listed in the Seattle business pages with this number; it is a voice-mail only number.  The caller had a heavy foreign accent (sounded SE Asian/Indian) - full of claims to be from the "tax litigation department," garbling phrases that sounded like  "deficit in your tax payment" and  "call immediately before legal action," and requesting the name of my "attorney of record."   Each time I returned the call, it rang once and then the line went dead.   I keep thinking about how this distressed my day, until I could get home to this website to sort it out, and about how intimidation like this can be even more distressing to the elderly living alone and  with more vulnerable populations among us.  It makes me furious, so thanks to all for the many reassuring posts and for the assistance with being able to take action.

It's not an Indian accent, most probably an African...try Nigerian :)
