I have been getting the same messages from this number. Since I have verizon I just went on verizonwireless.com and just blocked the number. Gonna see if that works..but i suggest everyone to do that with verizon or whatever carrier they have.

this is annoying - no one says anything when i answer - this is my work cell phone - when i called back - i got the same recording to be added to a do not call list - scum

Appreciate the helpful links above.... just emailed frauddepartment@covista.com, their telecommuncations carrier, to report this.  Will also try blocking via my wireless carrier.

I keep getting calls from this area, which is in TN. I'm in California and I pick up and they just hang up on me over and over again.  This is my cell phone, do not know how they got my number.

"Home Security Group" called my mobile phone and asked This is Tom from Home Security Group. How are you doing today?"; then said "OK thanks for your time; and hung up on me."

I don't even bother answering unknown #s ... waste of my time, energy and possibly $$$.

Also reported to Covista and got this reply almost immediately:

I keep getting calls from this phone number despite asking them to place my number on their Do Not Call list.  They say that it takes up to 72 hours for this to occur, but it has been more than 72 hours and I am still being called.  On one occasion, when I answered the phone there was a live person on the other end who was rude and belittling to me when I would not listen to his spiel regarding his special deals.  On all other occasions when I have answered the phone, it has been a pre-recorded message.  Since my phone number has been on the Do Not Call Registry for over 6 months, this call is clearly in violation of the Do Not Call rules.  Additionally, pre-recorded messages are no longer allowed.  I have filed a complaint on the Do Not Call Registry web page every single time I have received a call from them and I recommend everyone else who receives a call from them to do the same.  This may be the only way to stop this egregious annoyance.

Hey Fed Up, please see the info above about reporting these calls to their phone company, Covista.  As mentioned above, it sounds like Covista is taking the situation seriously and is working to shut "Home Security Group" down.

Hey Sven-- that's awesome.  I personally haven't heard back, but it's great to hear that Covista is taking the complaints seriously.  I would love to be there if and when the phones stop working :)

I read this very useful string of messages and reported the problem to Beth Bowling at Covista.  Got extremely prompt reply asking when last call was (it was 15 min ago and before that on the 18th mid afternoon).

Just got a call from them.  Not a word.  Each time I get a pause, I know it's a junk call, so I hang up immediately.  These annoying calls have to stop !!

I seriously doubt the company making these calls is a security company.
Anyone ever hear of someone having a security system installed by this company?
A no-name security company calling from half way across the U.S.?
Do you think they have a license to do business in your area?
I doubt it.

And why do they abruptly hang-up, after you respond to their initial question?!

This isn't any security company.

It would be great if someone knew of someone, that lived in the area this company has their offices located at.
It would be good to have that person drive over to their business address, to check them out.

VERY LIKELY, this is something other than a legitimate security company.

I got a call from that number also, and the same message when I called back.  I don't answer my phone if it doesn't tell me who's calling, and if I don't personally give someone my number, I don't want them to call me....what part of that is so hard for telemarketers to understand???  I know everyone has to make a living, but please, people, get jobs that do NOT harass others....

These calls are being conducted by Revocalize of Utah, and Revocalize publishes their number as 877-783-5192 on their website.

I just called pressed the option for "customer service" and was transferred to someone named Jeff (sounded like his mobile) and I asked him if they were conducting calls as "Home Security Group" -- Jeff said that they were, and asked how I got that number.  He said they only call opt in numbers, and rescrub their list every 90 days.  Jeff seemed really concerned about how I got the number (probably thinking I got the number to his cell.)  He didn't know if they used Covista.  Anyhow, I'm going to forward this info to Covista.

The rest of the story:  Beth at Covista has stayed in touch and been as helpful as one could expect.  However I received this totally unsatisfactory reply from fraud@covista.com:

I wrote back that I have no interest in talking to those people.  I also provided a link to this web site.

I just blocked the slime bags through Verizon. I also reported their activity to the do not call registry.  If those guys get off their collective rear ends, there is a potential $11,000 penalty per incident.  I wish they'd charge them for every unwanted phone call they have ever made!   Damn, I hate pests like these scum.

I received the same message from Covista as G.  

Interestingly, 503 is a Portland, Oregon area code, which is a wee bit across the country from TN.

Maybe we should all start spamming "David"....
