i called the number back and now I am listening to their hold music in my office, its quite cheerful!

Received a call from this number saying a charge was made on a credit card & it didn't go through & they needed the number to fix it.  Me " What company do you represent? What is the name on the card? What is the charge for & what kind of card is it?"

Them " I can't tell you that until you give me the card number for security purposes. "

Me " What card is it ? What is the name of the person that made the charge?"

Them " Just give me your card numbers & then I'll tell you which one"

Told them on DNC, reporting to FCC & Department of Justice as this is interstate fraud. they hung up

No message. They hang up when you answer. Caller ID reads: Lynchburg, VA 434-363-4558.

Using the RUSE of a  "Return call" to you for a 'free backbrace' that you supposedly inquired about from a commercial (I've seen the commercials, but I've never called) to perpetrate MEDICARE/MEDICAID/IDENTITY THEFT PHISHING.  **THEY WANT YOUR SS#***

Frankly, I think AMERICAN CORPORATIONS are IN on these SCAMS.  For instance, TIME WARNER CABLE runs commercials that hawk "Lowering your Electric Rates", "Home Solar Panels" and "Free Knee and Back Braces".  They have our home phone # - the one that gets the bulk of these calls.  Funny how we GET one of these calls with EACH of these COMMERCIALS/SCAMS that are advertised.  *I* NEVER Call these 800number offers, and yet I get ALL of these calls.  Hmmmmm.  When we have called the 800numbers for accounts that we DO have, where we need service (VERIZON, SEARS, CHOICE HOTELS, CITIBANK) suddenly we get an HUGE INCREASE in these SPAM CALLS from INDIAN CALL CENTERS for WEEKS/MONTHS afterwards.  Coincidence?  I don't think so.

I have idea whey this number is calling me - I do not know of anyone with this number or in this area

No one in Lynchburg knows anything about it. Very foreign souding voice. Do not hold it against Lynchburg VA. Very nice town. I talked to the Chamber of Commerce. They will investigate.

The recording was a lie saying that I requested information about a back brace or something. I entered the keypad number to be removed, but an agent came on anyway. I immediately asked to be removed from the list and she hung up on me.

The call showed up on my caller ID as coming from 434-363-4558, Lynchburg, VA, and as I have a relative living in that city, I picked the call up.  It was a recorded message saying it was a return call for requested information on receiving a free back brace advertised on TV.  I pressed “1” to access a “real” person.  A young woman with a foreign accent answered and I said I had not requested any information and was on a no-call list.  She immediately hung up.  Not much sense in blocking the number as they will just call using another.

Recorded call saying they are "returning my call" for a back brace - I hit the button to talk to a real person, and I do hope the SOB liked the very loud whistle I blew into the phone, hope it put a hurtin' on his ear drum!!

Received call; this number and Lynchburg VA displayed on Caller ID.  I assumed it was telemarker, perhaps with spoofed location and number and didn't bother to answer.

1.  It's sad that so many calls are made from so many numbers.  I think that they are some how connected.
2.  It's sad the phone/cable/government entities won't do anything about it.
3.  It's more sad that people call back after they receive a call.

Said they were calling back about a back brace. Press 2 to be taken off list. I pressed 2 and a guy answered with just "hello" and when I told him I didn't call about a back brace he hung up.

Think carefully before pressing 2. Callers can hijack your number that way.

I answered, the robot said to press 2 to be removed from the list, so I did, but it connected me to a person. I began to explain that I had pressed 2 to be removed from the list, and he hung up on me.  The robot said that I had "requested a call back from a back brace infomercial."  I never requested any calls about back braces!!!

These people have called me every day for about the past 2 weeks and really pissing me off. I never answer a call I don't know who its from and they never leave a message. I guess since neither the phone company, nor the police, or FCC (government) will do anything about these annoying calls. Its about time instead of creating a "crowd funding" we need to create a "crowd email blitz" to include all our state and federal representatives and  the FCC literally burying them with complaint mail regarding these annoying calls. Just maybe they will realize individuals have rights also and not just big business. Also that all spoofed calls with fake names and phone numbers would be illegal and blocked as well.

PS as an observance I have also noticed that a caller ID from Los Angeles Ca. 323-892-0172 calls within 15 minutes of each other. Whether they are related or not I am not sure but they seem to come in pairs. Has anyone else see this call pattern?

I recognized number and didn't answer. last call from 434-363-4558 April 7. According to others it is a medical alert scam about a back brace order. I will again report to FTC.

Why call them back?  All you are doing is confirming your phone number to them, which they'll sell to or share with other scammers.  You aren't costing them anything.
