Just hang up on these scammers and illegally practicing collection agents. Save yourself the time.

these people called me several weeks ago about an account the was charged off 10 years ago. the caller ID said it was sunrocket did. protect yourself...

I am getting calls from this telephone three to four time a day and on week end. I am sick and tired of these calls coming.. What can be done to stop thses calls.

This number is the Baltimore area code

Portfolio Recovery Associates has called me between 11pm to 4am, and I have a list of over 14 numbers that they have used automated services call from. They claim I have a debt that was paid 3 years ago, at DOUBLE what the original debt was. $75 to Walmart for crying out loud. I told them send proof of said debt, and I get threats and profanity. These people were really rude and do not stop calling me!!

Im sick of their [***]! I have tried reporting them only to be told they arent in existence. If thats the case why have I gotten into an argument with some PITA that answered the phone and her "supervisor" swearing they are a real company. The govt doesnt want to hear it, the company wont stop calling. The bill is over 7 years old not in my name and never accrued by me to begin with so why do I keep getting the phone calls saying i have to pay it back??!! They have multiple numbers and multiple "office" sites that range all over the US area, there are a few that show up in Africa. I even read an article about how bogus they were in the wall street journal... looking for it now....

When they call I say "just one second I need to turn down phone/tv/ put baby down, leave phone down and ignore it. After a minute or two they hang up. My logic is if we were all to utilize similar tactics they'd accumulate hours and hours of wasted time, on their dime, and prevent the caller from moving on to other calls.

This collection  comp. keeps calling me trying to collect on a bill that I have already payed. They setteled for 333. dollars then changed the account # & are trying to collect it again. I do not think it is right. What can I do to settel this?

they call all the time. different hours, different numbers, even on sundays. leave no message and when you call them, on hold forever...... i'm NOT who they want!!!!  they don't care, won't listen.

This number and similar numbers have been calling several times over the past week, all of which I've missed because the calls were at inconvenient times. Yesterday I got a call at 4 am, then tonight just now at 7:45 pm. Finally was able to answer tonight. The caller did NOT identify herself or her company and asked for "Angela". I replied that there was not and never had been an Angela at the number that was dialed (which I've had for over 10 years). I asked for her to update her records, and she asked if I had an alternate number for Angela. Angela WHO? I asked to speak with a supervisor, and the original caller got extremely irate. Eventually a "supervisor" named Ken Dayton got on the line, and he did identify himself and his company as Portfolio Recovery Service. He asked me why Angela would provide my phone number in her record. I sarcastically replied that I have no idea why someone who is in collections would give a false phone number. Ken Dayton asked why I thought he was a collection agent. What part of "recovery service" am I misunderstanding? What a swell job this must be, I'd rather flip burgers or sweep floors.

I keep telling these people I don't know about the person they are asking about and they keep calling, muptiple times a day.  When I pick up to tell them not to call again they get snitty.

I have gotten calls from this number for over 4 years.  They do not speak very good english.  
They won't send anything in the mail.  If they would I would write on the envelope:

RETURN TO SENDER

UNACCEPTABLE MAIL

18 USC 1342

FICTITIOUS NAME OR ADDRESS

and send it back----but they don't want to send any real information!

O.K. This is Portfolio Recovery Services' modus operandi:

I moved to Colorado 9 years ago from another state. Upon moving here, I got my current phone number. Almost immediately I started getting calls for an "Angela Braxton" from a collection agency. During 2004 and 2005, I called Portfolio Recovery Services (PRS) numerous times to let them know that I'm not Angela Braxton and have no idea who she is. PRS ignored my pleas to stop calling and kept calling me anyway, sometimes day and night.

Finally, I got the feature from Qwest (now CenturyLink) that allows a person to block 25 numbers. Over the next few years, I kept blocking numbers from PRS. As you poor guys know, PRS will then start calling from a different number. Eventually, I ran out of blocking possibilities. So I cleaned out all those 25 blocked numbers and started afresh. As usual, I continue to get calls from PRS asking for Angela Braxton. I keep blocking the new numbers PRS uses to call its "victims."

At 8:46 this morning I got another call from PRS which went to messages. In the meantime I decided to enjoy this constant harassment and have a little fun at their expense. I decided, "O.K., I'll pretend to be Angela Braxton" and returned their call claiming to be Angela Braxton.

They wanted to know if my address is in Aurora. It is not, and so I said so. On second thought, I should have said "Yes." PRS' second question was about my social security number, giving the last 4 digits of what Angela's social security number is supposed to be. Again, I said that was not my SS number, which is true.

And then I blew it big time. They started asking other questions. I said I could not help them because I was not the Angela Braxton they were looking for. When they started to ask for information about me, I said "You have no idea who I am, where I live, what my SS number is. You know nothing about me, so just try to go after me for whatever you want!"

Now, maybe if I've planted some good ideas in those of you who might be more creative than I am, go to it! Let's have a little fun and help stop this nonsense. Maybe if everyone pitched in and shared their experiences here as to what they tried and how successful their efforts were, we might hit on an idea or two that will make this type of harassment come to a screeching halt!

This is Portfolio Recovery Service, a debt collection company.  They have been calling my house 3 times a day for the past 10 years.  They stated I owed over $4,000 to Lane Bryant.  First of all, that shop is for very large size women.  I am not a large woman or a small woman, in fact I am a man!  and have no cause to use that shop.  Second of all EVERYONE START INDICATING TO THEM "THERE IS A $10,000 FINE FOR EACH TIME YOUR PHONE NUMBER OCCURS ON MY PHONE BILL. I HAVE REPORTED YOU TO THE FTC AND YOU ARE BEING DEALT WITH ACCORDINGLY"    They will stop calling, but you need to follow through and contact the FTC for harrassing calls...and they WILL be fined

Get a lawyer and sue them!
