Contacted with the same scam today, car is on car sales. Used steve.hall00@gmail.com, SMS first from 0411000369. Thought it was suss, responded to his message with vehicle details only and half an hour later mentioned it to a friend who got the same message with car on car sales and warned me of the scam. They start all correspondance with "Mate". I hope it doesn't work on anybody!!

I too have had a message about my car on carsale.com.au from +447024093688 26/2/2011
    his E-mail was kim.johnson110@gmail.com
Thanks for sending me more information about the car. It was really of immense help.  I am glad to know that the car is of a good mechanical condition and has not had any accident in the past. Your sincerity is something I see very necessary to appreciate. Thanks a lot.

I have actually tried to get this car here earlier from here but most of the ones I got either have one huge mechanical fault or the other and some have even had accidents in the past while some are extremely exorbitant.
My decision to try and get one from Australia is basically because the car makes conforms with the United Kingdom's as they are also right hand drives..

I am actually trying to get this car for my wife will be adding a year to here age in about 3 weeks as this has always been a fan of this car.  So I think its worth paying whatever the shipping charges will be just to put a laughter on his face. As to the price, I will offer you $19,500 AUD So if you deem the offer good enough, I will be very glad to make the payment asap through my PayPal account as I am currently offshore and I won't definitely be able to make it to my bank to make bank wires across to you.

As to shipping, you need not worry yourself about how the car will get to me here in the United Kingdom as I will contact a shipping company here who will handle that. I will however be needing your contact address to be able to get the shipping quote from the shipping company.
Do get back to me asap with your PayPal Email and Full name so that I can remit the payment asap.
    Thanks,

    Johnson.

Just had the same thing, I have a motorbike for sale on bikesales, started with an sms from 04037887624 saying the number is currently scrambled. Then wanted me to email desmondsmith854@gmail.com which I did and after a couple of emails back and fourth I began to get sus and discovered this site. Below is the first email I received.

    Mate,
Thanks for the response,I would have loved to call to discuss
better, but due to bad weather, our SATphone is currently
scrambled. Please can I know the full condition of the bike as I am
buying it as a birthday gift for my son but its so unfortunate that I
am currently working far away from home.
I want to be sure if the bike is  still in good condition , I will
appreciate if I can get more close up photos, I will not be able to
come for inspection due to the nature of my job. I am a petroleum
engineer and I am currently working on a rig offshore. All I need from
you is your guarantee and words that the bike is in good condition.

As to the price,I will pay $4,400.if my offer is accepted,
I will pay for the bike with the fastest and safest online payment
    scheme "PayPal" as i dont
have access to my bank account here but I have my WESPAC attached to
my paypal account.I will arrange for the picking up and transportation
to my son in WA after payment has been sorted as I have gotten a
transport company that will handle that.
    PS:
In case you don't have a PayPal account,Its reliable fast, secure and
easy to use,all you need to do is to log on to www.paypal.com.au and
register with them.I will appreciate your prompt response.
    Regards,
    Des

I played along with it saying I had sent the money and gave a fake transaction number and then he got angry at me ?????? I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY!!!!

MORGAN BLEND tried to purchase my vehicle via PayPal claiming that he was "at sea" and that he would send a "pick-up agent" for shipping. THIS IS A SCAM! He was not willing to accept any other method of payment.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE: I am willing to offer you $15,300 now for the Car and i will like to know the present condition..But due to the nature of my job and location...i will not be able to come for inspection,am a very busy type as i work long hours everyday,i have gone through your advertisement and i am satisfied with it.

As for the payment..i will be paying you via the fastest and secure way to pay online(PayPal).

I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after the payment have been made ...so no shipping included.

You can now send me your PayPal email so i can pay in right away and also include your address in your reply. If you don't have a paypal account, you can easily set up one...log on towww.paypal.com and sign up. its very easy.I await your reply asap.

WHY THIS IS A SCAM: I have just contacted PayPal and they have informed me that if I complete the purchase of my car via PayPal I will not be covered under PayPal Seller Proection. In order for a seller to be protected under PayPal Seller Protection shipping a tracking of the purchased item needs to be done through a reputable carrier and this is not possible with the shipment and tracking of a vehicle. This means that I have no way of proving that he received my vehicle and that he could in fact claim a dispute through PayPal and I would need to re-imburse him the full amount of my vehicle even if he had received the vehicle.

This is his E-mail address: Morganbland17@gmail.com
