Ik heb dezelfde mail gehad van Walton. Ook na een sms als reactie op mijn motor op autoscout.nl.
Hij vraagt om mijn paypal adres en wil geld overmaken.

Ik vraag me alleen af wat hij ermee wil bereiken, want een paypal account is in principe alleen een emailadres. Dat zou hij gerust mogen hebben. En geld daarnaar overmaken natuurlijk ook.

Op welke manier zou hij dan willen frauderen of oplichten?

Ik kreeg zojuist een SMS van Brandon182. zijn telefoonnummer kan ik niet zien in mijn telefoon.
Ik heb een auto op Autoscout24 staan. bericht dat ik ontvang:
is your car still for sale if yes get to me on (danverboven@hotmail.com

Heb het mailadres op google ingetikt, en kwam via die link hier terecht.

After putting my car for sale on autoscout24.nl i almost instantly received a tekst message:
"is your car on www.autoscout24.nl still for sale if yes get back to me on danverboven@gmail.com"

I did not trust this from the start but after his e-mail i could only laugh...:
"Thank you for getting back to me. Can you assure me that it's in good state and that i will not be disappointed with it.I'm ready to pay your asking price and to be honest, i wanted to buy this for my Son, but the issue is i am an oceanographer and i do have a contract to go for which starts tomorrow and am leaving any moment from now.The contract is strictly no call due to the lack of reception on the sea area. But I'm able to access email anytime as we will make use of laptop so my only quickest payment option is PayPal as i can send money via PayPal anytime.Since I'm requesting this transaction to be done via PayPal, i will be responsible for all the paypal charges on this transaction and if you don't have an account with paypal, its pretty easy, safe and secured to open one. Just log on to http://www.paypal.com. I hope we can make the purchase as fast as possible? I have a mover that will come for it once payment clears and they will take care of very necessary paper for me. So i look forward to hear from you soon. will like to see more pics.

Nadelen voor de verkoper
PayPal is dus veilig voor de betalende partij. Voor de verkopende partij heeft het toch enkele nadelen en risico's. Je [***] als verkoper te maken krijgen met een koper die een artikel wil kopen zonder daarvoor te betalen. Om dit voor elkaar te krijgen maakt deze koper dankbaar gebruik van de PayPal kopersbescherming.

Hoe gaat deze koper te werk
Stel je voor dat je via een veilingsite een artikel te koop aanbiedt waar door een geïnteresseerde op wordt gereageerd. Na afspraken gemaakt te hebben over de prijs en de levering maakt de koper het afgesproken bedrag over via PayPal. Direct na deze transactie ontvang je als verkoper een e-mail met daarin de gegevens van de betaling. Het artikel wordt hierna verzonden. De koper ontvangt het artikel wel maar maakt toch aanspraak op de kopersbescherming omdat het artikel niet aan de eisen voldoet of omdat hij het naar eigen zeggen nooit heeft ontvangen. In dat geval kan de koper de PayPal betaling binnen een bepaalde periode terug laten draaien. Zo zit je als verkoper zonder geld voor het artikel wat je hebt opgestuurd.

I also had a car fopr sale and got a reply via this mailaddress. I did not trust it since he wanted to do business through paypall.
Now two days later it appears to be an invalid mailaddress. Be warned

Same story and after we've googled I tried to cancel the deal I've got following ridiculous reply:

"Thanks for your mail..Am sorry i should have inform you about this before making the payment,i don't have access to western union at the moment due to my nature of work.Am a marine engineer busy sailing,am in a ship right now at Alabama USA.That is the reason why i add the money to your payment so you can help me to pay the shipping agent when the payment is complete into your account, not knowing that paypal will not release the money immediately. They hold the payment just to secure both party as they have already deducted the money from my account which is on the way to your account history.You just have to send the money the shipping agent through western union and email the western union receipt to PayPal Customer care email in order to receive the whole money into your account."

And btw, we found out that the email address was a FAKE paypal address and he sent the payment confirmation from this fake address... service@paypal.com <onlineservice@secureroot.com>

What do you mean by that....i have make the payment for the item and i have been waiting for you to send me the western union info so that i can mail PayPal about the western union info for you to have your money credited into your account and i think if i did not hear back from you within next 12hrs i will have to contact PayPal about your scam... that you are trying to rip me off because the payment for the item has been forward to PayPal but you have to make the MTCN for the agent and send the western union info to PayPal for verification and as soon as the western union info is verified you will have your money credited into your account with immediate effect OK...

This is such an obvious scam that it makes one smile over it's incredibility. Of course I am no longer responding to the fool's emails and will now have any more of them filtered into the trashbin.

First mail:

Even though 1) The price was mentioned in the Add 2) Recent pictures were present

Of course you get a bit suspicious but NOT enough and send him a mail with the Price, say 500€, and also simply mentioning "Yes I do have a Paypal account" (NOT actually giving him the account info)

Second Mail:

"Thanks for your response. €500 is a nice and acceptable price. I will
be adding the 3.9% PayPal surcharge to the total amount i will be
paying you. So i will be paying directly into your PayPal account
without any delay, and i hope you have a PayPal account.

If you have one already, just send me the address to send it to, which
is the email address you use for it or you can send me a PayPal money
request, so once i receive the details i will go ahead with the
payment through PayPal and then i will contact my shipping company
after you get the payment. I will need your home address for the
merchandise to be Picked Up by the Shipping Company.

Have a nice day."

So he says "I do hope you have a Paypal Account" While I already told him him/her I have one!?
And then "contact my shipping company" to "pick up the merchandise" without ever having seen the item for real?!?

I think NOT.

Rare snuiter en verdacht ook. Bied aan om inmiddellijk akkoord te gaan met vraagprijs en wil handelen zoals hierboven via PayPal account en shipping company. Vertrouw dit niet, dit is niet pluis. Ik ga wel even verder graven en de zaak bekend maken bij de nu betrokken internet sites en andere. To Be Continued!!!
