My partner has been receiving calls from this number and another number belonging to Creditors Interchange. They claim to be working for Pier 1/Chase, with whom my partner used to have a store charge card. She bought some place mats last year for $15. We paid a little late because Chase took over the business and started sending the statements in plain envelopes, which I shredded, thinking they were junk mail. We finally figured out our mistake and sent the payment. A few months later, we received a bill for nearly $100 in fees. We spoke to a Chase rep last summer, who told us to address our complaint in a letter. We sent the letter and never heard from Chase again until these clowns from Creditors Interchange started demanding nearly $150. They told my partner they were lawyers representing Pier 1, who had filed for Chapter 11 and needed to drum up funds in any way they could. Neither of those statements passed smell test, so I looked up CI, whose shady business practices have been the target of the NY Attorney General, who forced CI to enter into an agreement to stop employing fraudulent tactics. Clearly, this business doesn't honor its agreements with law enforcement. My partner just called to tell me another CI rep just called to threaten her with legal troubles and a 30 point drop in her credit score if she doesn't pay immediately. We checked with Chase over the weekend. They showed my partner's account as paid in full and closed. It is against the law for a collection agency to age a receivable, so bear that in mind when you deal with these bottom-feeders. They also cannot pose as lawyers or call your place of employment after you ask them not to. We are pursuing a complaint through the MA Attorney General's office. Another so-called credit agency tried a similar scam on me a couple years ago. I called their bluff, and they stopped harassing me. Know the laws in your state and the nation. Don't let these cretins make demands they cannot legally make.

I received a call Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 10:15 a.m., at my home 815-624-8262, from a woman who identified herself as calling from a mediation law firm in New York.  She stated she was looking for my son who needed to be at a mediation hearing by Monday, February 2, 2009, or his credit would be ruined for 10 years and a law suit would be filed against him.  She stated she was there to protect his interests and was looking out for him.  I am a legal assistant to a collection attorney and am schooled in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act on a regular basis.  I pointed out to the caller that she failed to advise me that she was attempting to collect a debt and that a law firm cannot initiate direct contact with a debtor and we should have received a letter from them.  She told me I did not understand that they are a mediation law firm.  I told her yes, I did understand and that she had violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act twice (thinking about this further the fact that she was discussing my son's debt with me and threatening a lawsuit are two more violations).  This woman then told me to go ahead and call Capital One.  I again told her she was violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and her response was "good luck with that" and she hung-up on me.

i've gotten calls from this number many times be4 when i answer no one answers back it is getting annoying

I have had my phone company block the number.  My telephone company is Comcast.  You need to put the 1 in front of the number to block that number.  There has never been anyone on the line when I have answered.

I have recieved numerous calls from this # all week.  I finally answered just to find out who it was.  I got a recording, asking to hold for a rep. for a survey.  Needless to say I just hung up.  I'm blocking this #.

Suggestion of everybody: I am getting these also and called the phone company about it.  They said they were solicitors of some sort and not to answer and to try blocking it.  Call your phone company to find out how.

I see this post is from a couple of years ago, but the same Mrs. Brown is calling me and she is at the same ext. you mention.  Sad thing is that she is leaving messages for my mother who does not and never has lived with me.  At the end of her call she says "this is an attempt to collect a debt".  Isnt that illegal to leave my Mothers personal info. on my voicemail?  I am guessing she looked me up online.  I have been playing back.  I called her back and left the reference # but never said a name.  She called my phone (thought she had me) and said ------? I said "yes", she started telling me what the call was about.  Didn't verify my name or anything.  Then when I told her I was not who she was calling she said "you just committed fraud", I said "yeah lady, I committed fraud so I could collect mom Mom's debt, you idiot".  She had the nerve to call my cell the next day and play dumb, when I didn't answer she called my home # which the previous day I told her to never call again.  They are dirty.  Anyways I told my mom of my pretending to be her, and now I just freak out on them when they call.  I was yelling at "Mrs. Brown and she had the nerve to tell me to calm down as I was going to have a heart attack.  So unprofessional.  Scumbags...

This # has called me 2 times in less than 30 minutes. It hangs up on me. If I try to call it back it says it is disconnected.

call me every hour staying about 4.pm until 9.pm when i answer they hang up.my mother is sick and is 80yrs old and they call and, and up set her every day. it all to be a law to put these people behind bars.they are worse than any behind bar and breaking the law.

They call about every 30-45 minutes and hang up after less than 5 seconds. I tried letting the answering machine get and same thing, I don't owe anybody, so I can't figure why they're calling my number. And they certainly can't scare me if they won't talk.
