I've been on the Do Not Call list for years but lately I'm getting more calls than ever that I should not be getting.

A rough sounding lady answered, but she said she would take my number off the list. I suggest everyone do the same. Maybe if 100,000 people call her, something will happen.

Calls daily in the evening and on weekends

This number calls 3 times a day.  Hang ups - no message!!  I am on the DO NOT CALL list!  Just called now at 6:40 pm!

I just called the number above.  Woman was very nice.  Put me on THEIR "do not call" list.  She also explained that they are exempt from the National Do Not Call list b/c they are not selling anything.  She would not tell me why they were calling.  I told her that calling all day and hanging up is a form of HARASSMENT and that I reported them to the FCC and filed a complaint to the Do Not Call registration/website.  If you feel the need to dial my phone number please do so between the hours of 12 noon and 5pm Monday thru Friday only!  Any time other than listed is absolutely rude!!  LEAVE A MESSAGE IF I DON'T ANSWER!  PAY ME FOR MY TIME IF YOU ARE CONDUCTING A SURVEY!  There should be a better law against this kind of crap!!

Identified the firm; I didn't catch the name, stated they were doing a survey (one of the exceptions to the DNC restriction on cell phones.

Received call, Caller Unknown, on my cell.  Did not answer.  Only a very few individuals have my cell, so this was disturbing.  Absolutely not welcome.  After reading all the posts about this number, I'm even more irritated.  Who are these people making these calls, anyway?  Idiots without a life, I'm sure.

1st call 2nite 6/3 I'mma killem

These jokers are insane. I have 2 cells. One is for work . The other is my personal phone. They start calling both numbers at about 8 am local time and call until around 10 pm local time. They have said they added my numbers to their in house no call list. But it hasn't stopped them from calling all day every day, even on Sundays when they are not allowed to make such calls. I also told them I was on the national Do Not Call List and they said that they don't sell anything so the do not call list don't apply to them. I asked how they got my numbers and was told the cell provider supplied them with numbers monthly. I am looking into that also. The cell companies have no right to sell your number to anyone. As long as you keep your bill paid your number belongs to you. In my case it's Verizon that sold the numbers to them.

Kevin... and others.  Hopefully I can clear a few things up for you since I actually work at Market Decisions Corporation in Portland, OR.

I've been working for MDC for a while and I'm one of those annoying people you seem to be complaining about.  ALL of the projects I've worked on have been one of the following:  1.) PAID focus groups (that take place at a later date) to get opinions from real people about a wide variety of products, services and topics.  There is NEVER any sales involved and there are no tricks to sell you anything in the future.  MDC has many happy participants who enjoy taking part in these sessions, and getting paid for simply offering their opinion.  If interested, you can register on our website at www.mdcresearch.com.  MDC has been making clients and focus group participants happy for more than 33 years.   2.) Surveys for a variety of clients.  These are usually customer satisfaction survey calls to the client's customers.

It is true that MDC does not have obey the federal Do Not Call LIst rules - that is because MDC does not do telemarketing - see www.donotcall.gov.  They are NEVER selling anything, so it is not telemarketing.  Most of the time they are offering an opportunity for you to share your opinion and get PAID for it.  The people that do take part in our paid focus groups are essentially our sub-contractors, helping MDC deliver a valued service to their clients.  

That said, the employees at MDC are more than happy to remove you from their call list if you are never going to be interested in participating in any paid focus groups.  Here's how to do that...  Spend the 15 to 20 seconds to listen to why they are calling, then tell them that you aren't interested and you'd like  to be removed from their call list.  You would be amazed how happy I and other employees are to assist pleasant people with this simple request.  

For the most part, the employees who are calling you, enjoy their work, and enjoy talking to people.  I haven't met a single one, however, who enjoys talking to angry and rude people on the phone.  Talking to a pleasant person who politely asks to be put on MDC's Do Not Call List, can be as rewarding as qualifying someone for a focus group where they'll make $100 for an hour of their time.

Unfortunately, I do not know where phone numbers come from for any specific job.  My understanding is that sometimes they come from the client, and other times they are provided by MDC.  Also, if anyone is called after 9pm, that is simply a mistake.  I work evenings, and we never knowingly call anyone after 9pm their time.  

I hope this helps alleviate any concerns and also helps prevent some unwanted calls.

You say opportunity, I say annoyance.  I don't give a crap about what "opportunity"  you are offering to get paid for my opinion.  What I care about is my phone ringing a hundred freaking times a day from you and others like you who seem to think I have nothing but time on my hands to answer your stupid little questions.  I shouldn't have to opt out of your trolling for information.  If you want my opinion how about sending me a piece of mail asking for it?  My time is precious to me and quite frankly is mine to decide how I spend it. Even spending a couple minutes politely speaking to you is wasting my time and energy.  You should be held to the DNC List as I signed up to not be bothered by useless surveys and even though you use a loop hole to get my opinion, it is a bother.  So here is my unsolicited opininon:  You and your company are bottom feeders annoying for profit those who do not wish to be annoyed.  You are glad that I have caller ID and don't answer these crap calls because if I did you would get an earful of angry citizen.  I couldn't care less if you don't like having to speak to rude and angry people.  You are the cause of my ire and as such the recipent of my rude and angry outburst.  The road goes both directions.  You annoy me, I annoy you.

Called twice this evening and once earlier in week.  Caller ID "MAILBOX".  No answer when calling back to number.   I can see from these posts that the source is annoying and likely violating "Do Not Call",
