- Amanda replies to StephThere is nothing they can get off your transcripts. I dont know why they said free courses but what they will do is see if there are any transferable credits from your degree so you can be exempt from courses you had already taken. If you dont want them to call you have to tell them not to call. Dont pretend your interested in something your not. I guarantee if you tell them to never call you again they wont. If you want a degree then Meritus really is a good way to get one because they are one of very few online universities that are accredited. ( I did my research) As for getting your information. It doesn't come from the sky. You filled out something that said you were interested in furthering your education.
- Amanda replies to LeesTell them not to call you anymore and you dont know how they got your information. If you do this it will benefit both you and them. I am sure they dont want to make phone calls to ppl who aren't interested.
- Amanda replies to LizWith all do respect. Please kindly ask the person to stop calling you. They wont anymore it is not allowed. If you dont answer they just think you work all day and are hoping to catch you on a day off. If your not interested no problem just say so! Tell them " please dont call me anymore" Just say that! Easy Peasy
- Amanda replies to SarahYou are so off it is not funny. It isn't harrasment! Pick up the phone and say " stop calling me please" and they will stop! Easy as that!!!!! DUH! there is no such thing as federal accreditation so it has to be a provincial one. They are accredited there credits are transferable and it really doesn't matter that they aren't listed on those sites.
- Amanda replies to SarahAlso I got a student line of credit from my bank for this university. Why are you telling people to research? Why dont you just research yourself so you wont be so negatively impacting a very real and earth friendly way to earn a degree. Get with the program the future is here!
- Amanda replies to elleI strongly reccommend you answer the phone and ask them not to call you anymore!! If the problem persists ask to speak to a manager!
- Amanda replies to roySimply tell them you are not interested and not to callyou anymore. They are a legitimate university so dont be scared lol...They will call until you tell them not to.
- Rachael replies to From Toronto again^2| 1 replyYour an idiot it is not a scam. Perhaps if you had some education you would know that
- Racheal is the idiot replies to RachaelPerhaps if you had some education you would know the difference between "your" and "you're", but instead you're stuck in a dead end job calling honest people who don't want to talk to you. Sad.
- meritus_student replies to jasonmeritus university is a legit school. I am going there and taking the on-line bachelor program since last year
- J. replies to SarahHi, I checked out Meritus when I was thinking of enrolling and sent out the information to various Universities I have attended in the past. I asked U of T, Ryerson Univerisity and even Richard Ivey school of Business all based in Toronto if I received a degree from Meritus whether they would accept my degree or transfer credits.... They have all checked the courses and the school out and said yes. In addition, Meritus U is a school on the list of institutions eligible for OSAP (Ontario, government student loans).... (Not sure when you checked your information out because when I was able to obtain a loan for OSAP with this school). I also have a good friend who holds a very high position at a large company who is subsidizing her MBA as well as other of their employees degree's at that school...
- J. replies to V from Ottawa| 1 replyI actually agree with you. I am currently enrolled at Meritus and I also take classes from both U of T and Ryerson. My grades at all three institutions are 4.0's but I work much harder at Meritus. With Meritus I have to post 2 discussion questions a day for 4 days as well as write two initial discussions per week and complete a demanding weekly essay. By contrast, I write about on average 1 assignment during my scheduled course, 1 mid-term and one exam per class I take at other schools. Studying for an exam is difficult but when I assess the knowledge I have gained from all institutions I can say that I forget a lot of the knowledge I have gained by studying for an exam (and yes this is even after getting above 90%) then when I relate the knowledge I have learned in a weekly assignment.
Either way, there are pro's and con's to each learning environment. I decided to get my Bachelor's from Meritus U, and some certificate programs from U of T and Ryerson. This way I can show employers that I have the diversity and discipline to finish a degree, and if they are worried about the online format I can demonstrate I also have some in class experience at highly recognized Universities. I also plan of getting my MBA from Ryerson to make sure it's all balanced out.
In my opinion, having experienced both types of schools, I can say that an accredited online University is just as worthy as a traditional University, both many many people are afraid of change and have a hard time accepting this fact, so I am covering this my back until people get over their unfounded and unstudied stereotypes. Until then I hope I can do whatever I can to help educate people on the merit of accredited online education. - John listro replies to J.Hello

I haven't been in school for a long time and didn't even know you could go this route.
