Got a call from this number claiming to be from Austin, TX. "Officer John Smith" from the Crime something or other (it was a very generic name) was looking for someone who hasn't lived here in a long while. He said he had a legal affidavit for that person, and frankly, if this was real, I'd laugh and laugh if he got arrested. No skin off my back. It's interesting that Gr above said he was Middle Eastern- the person "John Smith" was calling for is also Middle Eastern.

You could tell that the caller wasn't an American from his accent and the way he spoke. He called FOUR TIMES to harass me. I have the fax machine ready for the next time he calls, assuming he does it before I block him. I'll give him a little more time while I report this number to the FTC.

HE CALLED saying he wanted us to settle and threating us with all types of things stay away

Simply a dumb [***] who's trying to fool dumb people like him.

Some guy with an east Indian accent calling saying there was a warrant for my arrest and he was calling from a police station in Texas. I live in Pennsylvania, buddy. Nice try, though!

I was called by Jason Smith phone number 512-541 2184 SAYING he was calling from the IRS and that
I owed $700.00 in back taxes and if I didn't pay they were going to send HOmeland Security to take me
to jail.  I hung up

Today i.e. 10/29/14 at 9:01 AM pacific time i received a following voice message on my answering machine from 512-541-2184;

" I am officer Alex and why i an calling you to confirm that i have received a legal notice filed against your name. Make sure you call me back as soon possible so that i can get you on the safer side."

This is definitely a scam and if anybody on this track  has access to police department and has time to  identify this guy and put him to jail that will be very good. This guy faked his accent but he his Indian origin and must be punished for scamming people,

This guy with a weird, unidentifiable accent called my work and left a voice message that he was a police officer named "Alex _______" , with an unintelligible last name.  He claimed he was from the IRS Crime Unit and that I was being sued by the IRS, and he could help me.  He said to call him back as soon as possible to prevent me from getting arrested and put in jail.  This is a TOTAL scam, and it must be working because they are relentless, and have called both my home and work many, many times.  My husband actually answered once and the guy started talking so fast, threatening jail, threatening a lawsuit, frantically talking a mile a minute, and my husband hung up on him.  When we spoke to our accountant (and tax preparer) about it, he said he is being inundated with calls from his clients who are afraid of these calls, but that they are total scams. He suggested that we report it to the IRS which we did. My best advice to everyone who gets these calls is to report them to the IRS and then ignore them.

I got a message saying he has an affidavit case filed against my name. Very thick East Indian accent. Left a message saying he cannot leave a detailed message but to call him back at number 512-541-2184 ASAP
Obviously scam. Beware of this guy and number!
