- BillieI was contacted about paying for some magazines I was supposed to have ordered through them. I tried explaining I had not but the manager became belligerent so I told him to talk in a civil way or I would hang up. After a few more seconds of his verbal abuse I let him talk to Mr. Click (hung up.) I was not asked for any bank account or credit card numbers so hope I will not be billed in any way. This is definitely a scam and should be stopped.
- Caller: Heartland, Inc.
- natasha sowersi missed the call and no one left a message

- MeganBasically the same story here. About 7 years ago I bought a subscription through Magazines, Inc and every year or so for the past two years I get flooded with calls from these guys. They say they want to update my information. Last year I gave them the new information (choosing only the public knowledge ones to answer) and when they did the "I'm a new guy" routine, they transferred me to a supervisor and I hung up not wanting to hear the sales pitch. Since then I've been FLOODED with magazines that I never subscribed for and have never been billed for. Now they're calling again and if the subscriptions stop, no biggie. This time I added them to my phone book on my phone and set the ring tone as "no ring".
- ABlankHeartland, Inc 515-251-5316 called me several times, picked up and was asked several personal questions, age, job. The guy said he was new and put his supervisor on, he asked me if the first guy was polite, then wanted my credit card numbers, so that I could pay for another 60 months that I didn't want.
the more I told him I didn't want to do this the more he wanted my numbers, he finally told me he would transfer me to customer service and hung up on me. I checked online and found this to be a scam. I will check with my bank so I am not charged. - Paul BI worked for this company a couple years ago. It's called Heartland, Inc, and it's located in Urbandale, Iowa, a suberb of des moines. I worked there for two summers as a telemarketer, and I know all about this place. This is what happens there:
There's about 8 telemarketers working at once in one room, and in the other room are 4 or 5 'closers.' I didn't understand the process completely, but please know it is a scam. Do not give out any real important info, like credit cards. Please don't cuss them out either, just politely say please take me off your list, and the won't call again. I'm not exactly sure how they get your number, but I believe there are companies out there that have people's information, and then telemarketing companies actually buy it from them.
Anyways, the telemarketer will go through their schpeel, and at the end they always say the same thing. It doesn't matter how long they've been working there, but they will say 'o and by the way, i am still a little new here, my supervisor wants to check up on me do you think you could put in a good word for me? And that 'supervisor' is actually the closer.
There have been lots of complaints of customers never receiving their magazines, so i think it is a big scam. My advice is to pick up, because if you don't they'll keep calling. Be smart and order your magazines elsewhere! - Not a scam"Scam" implies that money is received but service is not rendered. Heartland does, in fact, render service as promised and provides written, detailed confirmation to each customer including which magazines, length of subscription time, and payment agreement, not to mention a generous cancellation window (10 days, well in excess of the mandated 3-day period).
I fail to see how that can be called "scam". - Not a scam, indeed!!!!!!!!!Let's see......How many ways is this NOT a scam????? First, they call you claiming to be the company that currently delivers your magazines......Pretty ethical so far, huh??? Then, they claim they are "new at the company" regardless of length of employment.......That's NOT really a scam....It's just a lie!!!Next, they transfer you to their supervisor........a much better liar!!!Eventually, he or she gets to the part where they need your credit information. If you ask them why they don't already have that information on file, they'll tell you that they do........BUT it's on a "green screen" for the "customer's protection".....o.k., maybe that's a little scammy. Finally, if you were an easy mark, they will call you back about a month later and repeat the process again!!!!Talk about service rendered.....you're set for about the next 10 years!!!!.Now let's talk about buying that DNC list!!!Why should Heartland purchase it.They're only calling people that "already receive their magazines anyway!!!!!"Right????.......I am fowarding this and many other letters I've read to John Stossel, the DNC Registry, the Better Business Bureau, the FTC,the FCC,the Iowa Consumer Affairs Division, the Iowa Attorney General's Office,Gov.Culver and anyone else who will listen. The city of Urbandale must be looking the other way in order to keep receiving their tax revenue. They should be ashamed!!!!! Crooks like these deserve to go to prison.Every last one, from the top to the bottom.May God have mercy on their souls.......
Not a scam indeed!!!!!!!- Caller: heartland inc
- Concerned CitizenI get continuous harrasing calls from this phone number - similar to the previous complaints. I plan to file a formal complaint with the FCC. I suggest that everyone do the same.
- JHI have been receiving several calls a week, including Sunday from this "Heartland Inc". I tried calling the number back and it could not be completed as dialed. Now my phone just says "Private Caller" when he calls. His name is Chris something that starts with a B.

the only thing i give my name n phone number out on the internet for is PETA n ASPCA. n they both say everything is completly safe. id hate to beleive PETA or ASPCA got me into this. - RobertSame as many of the above. Questions about magazines, last numbers of card numbers, pesonal info, etc. It has happened several times and they keep trying. If there are so mnay complaints why can't somethingbe done about them. What they are, I can not put in writing but I think most people would agree with me.

- maggieA guy called wanting me to give them information on what magazines i read. I told them a couple. But then they wanted me to give them bank information. Never did. Now they keep calling 3 to 6 times a day. Then this morning they called. Didn't answer. Until they started talking back and forth to each other. the one on the phone called the other guy Brian. And they were cussing at each other. Its all on my answering machine. Can anything be done about all the calls?
- Caller: Heartland INC
- AP the ninjaIts all a scam to get people to buy magazines they use different ploys but ultimately all of their goals are the same. To get people primarily elderly ones to buy like five hundred dollars in magazines. I know this personally because they called me once and i told them no. Then after looking for a job this place hired me on and once i realized what the job was immediately walked out on the first day.
- RHHeartland cal1s me every six months to tell me either to update my records or my supcription is fine. When I hang up , they call me back so thay can finish making up their scam story. This is harassment and I hope the FCC stuts their operation down for ever.
- Caller: Heartland
- MOI keep getting calls from this number too. I never pick up but they are so annoying!!!! They call constantly! glad to be able to google it and find out what the heck it is all about.
- SMThey too called me (I'm also on the DO NOT Call list!), insisted I had signed up for 60 month renewal, and after repeatedly telling them I wasn't interested they wore me down until I agreed. I then received my "contract", called to cancel it and was told I was beyond the 10 days cancellaton time and I couldn't cancel. I then discovered a charge of $159.00 on my credit card. Called them back, again told them I wanted to cancel was told I couldn't. Changed my card number, my bank got the charge reversed, but now I'm getting threatening calls (they will turn over to third party billing); the calls continue ("the calls will not stop unless I pay in full"); and receiving dunning letters weekly. I have contacted the Attorney General's office in Des Moines. I haven't heard back from the AG yet but continue to receive the threatening calls and letters. I will follow the advice above and contact the BBB and the FTC to stop this scam and harassment.

- melLeft no message.
- RobertA few calls in but an immediate hang up when I answer. Never a message left when I am not at home. A sad group of people to have been brainwashed into believing they can earn their life's fortunes by working for such companies and antagonizing anyone they wish.
