Just got email and phone calls from a Rev John wanting 1000sf of granite tiles to sent to haiti. To a Rev. John Burns World Orphange Center Port Au Price, Haiti 16044. wanted us to pay /process the shipping  along with the tile to a            FAST TRUCK FORWARDERS

What a scam .... they must think we are really stupid!!!!

This Guy emails me by the name of Jeff Hicks, he  wanted to buy over 50,000 worth of cutting tools from my company. Said, he will pay with credit card. He told me to ship package to Calle Alfredo Marquerie 40 Madrid Spain 28029. He also insisted that I email HalmarkexpressShipping@live.com for total cost of freight and that he will pay for it with his credit card. I even called and ask my bank(Wachovia) about such scams as this one and they were clueless saying (' if they are the one giving you their CC info it was no way they could get money from your account, or have excess to your personal information") So I'm guessing the scam comes in the shipping.

Here was my original email:

I need 120 in quantity and want to know if you can get them for me.

Then the guy called me back and it sounded like he was in a Mosk with the chanting going on in the background.  He told me we would be shipping to Switzerland.  Stay awy from these guys.

Thanks to ALL the posters here and to whoever created this site.  I'm certain I was in the midst of being scammed for more than $2000 in custom printed materials when I decided to Google the phone # of the person I was dealing with at a 'non-profit' organization...

I got the same email as the previous post on this page. The part that really set this up as a scam is the fact that it was sent to an undisclosed recipients.

Original email:

We own a flooring company and apparently from our website this Rev. John Wilson guy contacted us.  He was wanting 1000 sf of granite 12x12 tiles.  The email was broken English and before we gave him a price he agreed to pay it in full. It was $15,000.00 and he was ready to pay in full with a credit card.  We responded by telling him that the only way we would accept money for such a large job would be through a certified check.  We are still waiting to hear back but he did contact us with the following number, serveral times:  +223 244151790

This is apparently some kind of scam.  Also we have recently scammed on craig's list trying to buy college football tickets.. Just be aware of this..do not buy things that you pay through Western Union!!

1st email we responded, he wanted to buy parts and to use his own Freight Service, we told him we only use UPS or FEDEX. Have not heard from him for a couple of months, and then this email.

He has wide area of business this guy lol.

Blatent scammer, then i saw this thread - proved it for me.

Dont send any private data or products to this guy. Anyone can buy an US/UK number and be in west africa, calls will show up on caller ID as a local US/UK number.

They always use GOD, for example:  "Stay Blessed" as this guys ends his emails, with that and his urgency, it is a dead give away.

{DARTS} - " { XXX } " are proof of auto-generated emails, the product is a token in a database

"Get back to me in 24 hrs with credit card info" - lol - the guy hasnt even seen the products yet!

Hi Lance,  I have a similar email, exact Jeff Hicks and same address to ship to in Madrid Spain, same Halmark Express Shipping Co.  I think that the scam is the shipping, and the amount can be quite large.  But what about the credit card, I think they are stolen and some people don't even know that people are using their cards.

My company received an order by email for product to be shipped to Malaysia, paid by a credit card (including payment for shipping). We then received shipping instructions to ship via EXPRESS LANE SHIPPING COMPANY LTD, contacted us and asked for us to pay them by wire transfer to Ghana . According to the expresslaneshippingcompanyltd.com they are in Maryland, but the phone number listed is this one in Tucson, AZ.

Needless to say, we refunded the credit card payment.

I had to reply to this.  I have a company that sells Fashion dolls.  I received an e-mail from someone named Roy Maloney.  He wanted to order 30 dolls at the price of $4,900.00.  I actually gave him a 10% discount for volume and dropped the price to $4,500.00.  I suspected a scam but since he wasn't asking for a SS # or CC# it seemed like it might be OK, but you know how there's something not quite right.   He then e-mails me that he wants the dolls shipped to his wife,Lorita Maloney at Calle Alfredo Marquerie 40, Madrid, 28029 Spain and wants me to contact Halmark Express shipping at Halmarkexpressshipping@live.com to get the shipping cost.  One I send him the shipping cost, he'll give me his CC# and I can charge the whole thing.  Halmark Express shipping got back to me with a shipping cost of $2,800.00 for 4 boxes and also saying that they worked by collecting the entire shipping cost on the pick up of the goods.  This has to be Jeff Hicks.  I can only think that they work by either getting your goods and shipping money then canceling the charge or that It's a stolen credit card and once they get your goods and shipping money the credit card company  comes after you.
Has anyone gone any farther with this guy or a similar scam?

I work for a metal re-seller and we just got an email from  "churchofpenticost -at- gmail.com"  asking for aluminum sheets. It was signed from "John Willson".  It was written in very bad english, clearly a scam. Thought I'd add my experience to this list.

I also got e-mails and two phone messages from  "Roy Maloney"  who wanted to buy 2 solar storage tanks worth about $5K  and wanted me to call halmarkexpressshipping.com  ( A domain name that expired in 2010) to ship to  Calle Alfredo Marquerie 40  Madrid Spain 28029 .  The recipient's name was Lorita Baloney, I mean Maloney.  He sounded decidedly asian. His phone number is 530.532.2819 (Northern California)  Shipping was about $4K .  Wants to pay it all with "A major credit card" .  Smells a little fishy to me.

I get these all the time at my business. I think it's some kind of automated price gathering service. They send out emails to whomever for whatever for quotes and store the pricing info. just my two cents. I sometimes email them back that I need more info but they never respond.

Well, they are back.  I knew of these scams with them requesting they send in their freight company so i was aware.  I asked them to call me, because they previously only emailed.  They called and it was the same scam.  They used the name of Rev. James Anderson and it was for "Christ the King" church in Africa.  They would trying to place a $3,200 order.  His email was jamesanderson110@yahoo.com.

I believe his number has changed to 773-455-6207 Rev. James Anderson contacted me by email about getting labels shipped thru a company by the name Kwatson Inpex Shipping Company INC. email is still jamesanderson110@yahoo.com.
