- hospice nurseThey called today for their follow up appointment. The man said he was Ed Howell. I told them that this scam was all over the internet and that I didn't want to talk with them. They acted surprised but I hung up.
- TonyI also received a call from these people and my boss did the program. Somewhat surprisingly, they did everything they said they would, and we had a great experience. They also did an e-mail campaign. Has anyone else actually done this? They were very above board with our company.
- AnonymousMy organizations E.D. spoke to Ed Howell a producer for Insights with Hugh Downs...sounded like a good opportunity for our growing non-profit as broadcast is one of the strongest tools we can take advantage of. Instead it seemed as though we were about to be taken advantage of. What a disappointment and how do these people sleep at night? They told my boss, "13 years of broadcast and i have not talked to anyone as passionate as you"...unbelievable...

Be careful if you go to the insights website, it seems to be unstable - IrateGot a call this morning from "Ed Howell" from "Insights TV Series." He told me that in "13 years of producing, I've never heard anyone as pasisonate as you." What a riot to read this exact line said to another potential target later the same day! Honestly, how "Ed" sleeps at night is beyond me.

- Anonymous from MAGuess Hugh Downs is a busy man! Sure is looking into alot of different topics. Yesterdays call that I received was on "Equine Partnership" -- a series supposedly being done on Great America for Public Television. The man who called said his name was Farrel McCallum. Well, I wish them all a very Merry Christmas. Maybe someday they'll all find legit employment.
- Caller: UNKNOWN
- IrateJust got a follow-up call from "Ed Howell" who, when confronted with what I've uncovered about his operation, claimed legitimacy because there's an actual picture of Hugh Downs on their website! I guess that makes me Benjamin Franklin, since there's a picture of him on my website.
- Concerned CitizenWe were contacted by the an individual using the same basic scenario as others have outlined:
Names associated with the interaction:
Karen Watts
Karen Wexler
Eaton Samuels
website: http://insightshd.com/index.htm
Because of the unusual nature of the interaction we declined to interact with them beyond the initial phone call. We subsequently searched google and were unable to learn anything about these people.
I am not making any allegations as we had a very limited interaction and were not harmed in any way.
I believe http://greatamericahd.com/ is also associated with the same person or persons. This website as well as the insightshd website are hosted by WebsiteMaven.com
If you look closely, you will find the names of the people/persons surrounding these companies, as well as their contact information.
Best of luck all- Caller: insightshd
- InterestingHugh Downs' picture is on the website but also he is in a video...perhaps that is a computer generated image and not him
- InterestingOf course not...that is really Hugh Downs.
- AmandaI just got a call from Randy Hilton who wanted to feature our non-profit on his show. He asked me to call his assistant Kyla Honeycut at 561-860-2562. I'm glad i found this post.
- ObservationI received a phone call to participate in the program hosted by Mr. Hugh Downs, I did my due diligence and found a lot of positive information on stories that they've produced. Anyone could deduct by watching the stories on the website, acknowledging the celebrities who have participated in their program and having Mr. Hugh Downs as the host that this company is doing something right. I also looked up their BBB Rating and it's an A-. Then I found this Blog! First I reviewed the Blog and realized two things: 1) its Apparent that they have an angry ex employee who seems to instigating the Blog and 2) The people who found this Blog didn't do their due diligence before making an entry. After a number of conversations with actual participants who had successful experiences, I began to realize that not one of the entries made here on this Blog were written by anyone who had worked with this production company or had firsthand knowledge of their business dealings. I’m not convinced that the people making entries on this Blog have any idea of what they are talking about. It appears that 90% of the entries were made by people who just received a phone call, Googled the phone # and made a contribution to this Blog out of ignorance. Upon finding this Blog, I believe that as a Blogger(which I am) that there is a moral responsibility to make sure that I am writing about the truth. It's irresponsible to believe that it's OK to jump on the band wagon and bash this company. If my company were attacked in this way, I would make sure that any entry that creates any sort of tortious interference would be pursued to the fullest extent of the law. I am a businessman myself and I would be very disappointed if someone attacked my business in the way that this business is being attacked. How can someone deduct that this production firm is a dishonest organization if you didn't participate in their program???? Even for the Bloggers who actually spoke with the firm and decided not to participate because you found this Blog. Why would you make a comment? Why? Where did you get your first hand knowledge from? Did you get it from this Blog? At any rate, I plan on giving this production group a shot and mainly because I have yet to find valid information that would deem this organization as being noncredible. My story is that I was planning on creating a corporate documentary and discovered that through providing my story; I will get much more out of the situation. First of all, my 3-5 min segment will be distributed to Public TV that will run for one year that reaches 40-60 million households over the course of the year, I will have a 2 Minute segment that will air on CNBC, they are distributing my 6-8 minute segment to Google Video, YouTube and WebMD and they will be sending my story to up to 1 million viewers who are my exact target audience. I have the agreement and everything that they claim to do is outlined in their agreement.
I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt until someone gives me reason to respond otherwise. I'm sorry to say that the cowards on this Blog haven't done a very good job at convincing me that this project doesn't merit value. I am far too familiar with the cost of promotion to be swayed by the speculations of ignorant people.
Tortious interference, in the common law of tort, occurs when a person intentionally damages the plaintiff's contractual or other business relationships. This tort is broadly divided into two categories, one specific to contractual relationships (irrespective of whether they involve business), and the other specific to business relationships or activities (irrespective of whether they involve a contract).
Tortious interference with contract rights can occur where the tortfeasor convinces a party to breach the contract against the plaintiff, or where the tortfeasor disrupts the ability of one party to perform his obligations under the contract, thereby preventing the plaintiff from receiving the performance promised. The hardcore instance of this tort occurs when one party induces another party to breach a contract with a third party, in circumstances where the first party has no privilege to act as it does and acts with knowledge of the existence of the contract. Such conduct is termed tortious inducement of breach of contract.
Tortious interference with business relationships occurs where the tortfeasor acts to prevent the plaintiff from successfully establishing or maintaining business relationships. This tort may occur when a first party's conduct intentionally causes a second party not to enter into a business relationship with a third party that otherwise would probably have occurred. Such conduct is termed tortious interference with prospective business relations, expectations, or advantage or with prospective economic advantage.
To the Production Company: I have a very good name of a Lawyer who can help you stop these people from making entries to this Blog without being held accountable for their words and their interferrence with your business. I will email you the contact information. Best of Fortune and we are looking forward to producing a good story with your organization.
Best,
Greg- Caller: Insightshd
- lindaThank you to all for posting this info. I got a call today, Jan 5, 2010 from Angel for this insights show and now I know it is a scam, so I'll be prepared when they call back!
- CharlieRec'd a call from Kyla Hunnicut asking if our firm was interested in doing a segment and that we'd been identified by their research dept. Asked if a producer could call me to answer my many questions. 561-826-0188. Said she was the assistant for producer Sebastian John.
- Concerned CitizenAs a casual observer I note that the posted message from "Observation" has a number of very interesting qualities (in no particular order):
1) Apparently this person has an unusual degree of insight into the motivations of people who have posted comments on the site.
2) A high degree of knowledge regarding the business opportunity. One might classify such knowledge as specific and unique in his or her grasp of the details.
3)The poster has made very positive comments relative to the subject of this thread.
3) Was sufficiently motivated to write a lengthy post.
4) Has an unusually high degree of legal sophistication and dexterity relative to the average lay person or even a "business person". One might conclude that this poster has had previous experience with the very sort of law suite and the legal context with which the claim was referenced.
5) Is emotionally invested in the topic
6) Spent 4 paragraphs referencing the nature tortuous interference and delineating some of the nuances of such a claim.
7) Is dismissive of the comments and claims of people who have posted
Just casual observations. One should obviously draw one's own conclussion.
I am certainly not suggesting this company has done anything illegal or unethical as I have had no interaction with the firm, its owners or employees. The company may in fact be exactly as the poster "observation" has described.
However, if someone has been a true victim of fraudulent behavior, I would think the attorney general of Florida would probably like to hear from people. I'm certain that the majority of disinterested parties, such as "Observation", support the rule of law (as evidenced by his or her outspoken concern that injured parties be made whole).
Here;s the attorney General if you need him/them

"The good Lord has plans for all of us and will let us see if we simply open our eyes and look" Matthew 79:45 or maybe it is Mark:00:30. I can't always keep my scriptures straight. But either way, if you look hard enough, sometimes you'll find what you're looking for. - AlliWe rec'd a message today from Angel. Working with Sebastian John, a TV Producer making a series "Made in America" with Hugh Downs...561-518-8196. Too good to be true. Thanks for posting this!!
- KarenWe had the same thing happen this week. The callers were Preston Whitmore and Dr. Mathew McMahon. They tried to get us to sign up very quickly and when the contract came it looked sketchy. There's a NY Times article on the company as well that explains some of the stuff they do. Their website is very slick. Thanks for these postings, they helped us avoid a mess.
- JWReceived a call from a "John Michaels" with the program Insight with Hugh Downs. His purpose was to feature a segment on Texas Technology. He wanted to speak to our CEO. Since I am the assistant to the CEO, I never give out information and heavily screen all calls. Upon talking w/ this Mr. John Michaels, The email address he gave was: jm@insighthdtv.com and referenced his website as: www.insightshd.com. His phone number is: 954-822-3733. I decided to run a quick google search on the program, comments, etc, in the event it was legit. After reading the comments on this site, I made a call back to "Mr. Michaels" and pressed him further about the content of the show, where he received our name. He started to unravel...could not answer any questions and finally said, "if you don't think you are good fit for the show then whatever." Take heed everyone!! Check your sources carefully.
- JeffAdd "Karl Hughs" to the list of "producers" who call. 561-305-1279
Assistant's name is "Yvette Long" - Durraine LightI know Karl Hughs and he is a legitimate producer. I have personal knowledge that the Insights program is for real and not a scam. Look at the website under guests and tell me why these people would still be operating if they have former President Bush, the FBI, Florida Attorney General along with many other people of notariety and are not in jail? Do you still think that Insights is a scam? What's your common sense say? Don't believe every accusation that comes along.
