Pay your bills on time, that will put a stop to it. If you're "too poor" to afford to pay credit card bills, don't use credit in the first place.

Nice comment Mike. People are on here trying to figure out who's calling them from this number and all you can do is belittle them? Kind of makes one wonder why YOU are on here in the first place.

I agree. But I also agree with that there is a hard reality here. People are ripped off by these folks and do not know what to do about it until it is too late. I have a couple of $200 debts out there. I screwed up . But take this one:
Same deal, calls and letters on a debt, same name but in a town I have never lived in and a cable company I have never had service with. 5 year old bill  About 15 hours of work with the collector to have debt removed, then the cable company told me I would have to file a Identity theft report against the guy??? who racked up the bill. I actually went to the police station to find out if they had delt with this before, there were three other folks there for the same reason in a quiet town. Pull a officer off the street for no reason? Yes I know no one stole my identity, but It is real and people need to know what to do if they are being scammed.

Got a call from this number twice, answered the second time. The caller hung up. I now have this number saved in my phone as "DO NOT ANSWER". x]

I keep getting calls from this number.  Each time they call, I can hardly understand the person because there English is so broken.  I have asked them to stop calling me.  I also told them I DO NOT except calls from outside the United States.  I am on the DO-NOT-CALL list and they say they do not honor any thing like it.  I ask them what they want and they say the only way they will talk to me is I have to give them some of my personal information?  They want my DOB, full name, address and other things.  I now just hang up on them.  My next move will to buy a air horn and when they call again, I will blow the air horn in the phone, maybe they will stop then.

They called me again on my cell today. I do not know what I owe them.
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO, NO SS#!!!!!
They still do not know 100% they have the right person.

There are more and more of these scam people out there... Asset Acceptance is the name of the company, but Asset Acceptance is used so many times its unreal....There is a real one out there, but how they replicate a true company is beyond me. they will even send you something on letter head, but just be careful.

they just called me and I asked who she was on all I could understand was this is LISA!! She must live in India cuz after that I couldn't understand a word she said... All I got out of it was this call was about a business matter... WHATEVER>> I never told her who I was!!

Dont ever verify your information and if you really want to make them mad...ask them to send verification of this debt to you verify the originator... If they ask you for your address....HERES your SIGN!!!!!

Got two calls from this number two days in a row with no voicemail.
Thanks all for posting your comments, I went ahead and called my cellphone provider to have this number blocked. ;)

I've started saving these numbers in entries on my cellular phone called "Unwanted 1," Unwanted 2," etc., then assign "No Ring" for the Ringtone for each entry. Since each entry holds six or seven numbers, I now have over 30 of these bogus numbers which never ring when a call comes in. Then, when I see "Unwanted" (1, 2, 3, 4, or 5) in my missed call list and/or my visual voice mail, I simply delete. Ahh, it's so much easier than having my attention dragged to my ringing phone only to see it's one of these [***].
