Got same message from this number as did others who posted. Truncated vm with Robo female voice  saying "may got compromised. If you one using Microsoft Windows in your computer, then call (said phone number) and press 1 to speak to security team now. Please ignore if we called you by mistake." It seems they're getting more sophisticated, huh?

Is it not possible to backtrack this number as a landline or, if it's VoIP somehow figure out how to track back a voice over IP call? Based on the accent it's someplace in India but really we have no way of knowing that. I'm really surprised the DOJ  or someone else is not really gotten after this sort of thing. It's completely out of hand. Old people in particular are subject to this nonsense. I spoke at length to one of these clowns and I must admit he was very convincing particularly when I challenged him on "perhaps you should answer to your own God" That really got to him. It caused a complete change in tact however he never abandoned the scam.

I received a message claiming that someone was trying to hack Microsoft Windows on my computer and to press 1 to speak with someone from the security team. Unlike others who received messages from this number, the person who left this message spoke clear, unaccented American English.

Received the following scam call on my answering machine last night:  We encounter a serious issue coming now with your computer.  It seems to be someone is trying to highjack your computer and trying to steal your personal information.  If it is not fixed right away, your computer will become obsolete and your personal information will be compromised.  If you are the one who is using Microsoft Windows on your computer, please call 607 289-3811 or press 1 to speak with our security team now.  Please ignore this if we called you by mistake.

Recorded message from supposed Microsoft rep warning of computer problems and wanting to fix them and  telling you to call back to talk to tech who can fix. SCAM!  Those with elderly relatives or friends who have shown they don't always understand these things should be warned.
