607-737-1409

On 2/24/2015 I answered a call on my mobile phone which was a recording claiming that this was my last chance to contact the IRS before they sue me.   The call came from 607-737-1409 from Elmira, NY.  It said to call the IRS department at 253-200-6562.   This is obviously a fraud as I have never been informed by mail or call of an issue with the IRS, so I am not calling the number.

I just got the same message from the same incoming phone number, only with a different number to call (area code 209).

Got the same call this morning, twice in 10 minutes. I answered the second call and it was a recording, telling me "this call is to notify you that the IRS is preparing to file a lawsuit against you", they asked that I immediately contact a 209 number... It's a scam. The IRS doesn't 'file lawsuits' against people. They only communicate in writing, until you contact them on your own. They would provide a written notice of any issue they have with you and NEVER expect to notify you by telephone. (It is not a legal notice in a legal sense).... As an attorney, I find this scam particularly offensive, as elderly folks, may be extremely upset over such a call and out of a respect for the IRS, contact these frauds.  I intend on contacting the authorities and reporting this scam.

Got this call today, here’s how I’m dealing with it.
I have a service called SELECTIVE CALL FORWARDING. I program the offending number that called me, in this case (607) 737-1409 as the call I want to forward. (you can’t call this number back by the way cause it is faked on the caller ID) Program the  number this scammer wants his call returned to (209) 643-0152 as the number that receives the calls. Then he calls himself. Now if 200 of my closest friends did this….

To get more information about this case file please call immediately on our department number 209-643-0152 I repeat 209-643-0152 thank you."

Received a robo-call from 607-737-1409 stating that I was being "sued by the IRS" and to call 253-777-3436.

The IRS doesn't "call you", but uses certified mail. Don't fall into this scam.

I just got a VERY mechanical sounding recorded message from this number saying ,, and I quote :
  "Hello ,,, We have been trying to reach you ( and just WHO have you been trying to reach ? ) ,,,,, This call is
officially a final notice from IRS ,,,, Internal Revenue Service. The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS
is filing lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file ,,, please call immediately on our department
206-734-4414  ,,,,, I repeat ,, 206-734-4414  ,,,,,,, Thank you"
The English could probably use some polish to sound more convincing.
I Googled the 206 number and all I could be pretty sure about is that it's a Seattle number,,,
But the message came from NY ,,,  607-737-1409 ,,,
I called the 607 number and I got "The number you've dialed is not in service" ,,, Even THAT sounded bogus ..
"Be Careful Out There" !!!!!   The sharks are always circling ......................

SCAM! This is the message I received from this number: "Internal revenue service. The reason of this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you to get more information about this case file. Please call immediately on our department number 202-738-1919. I repeat 202-738-1919 thank you."
