I have a UHC policy through my employer. I started getting these calls, but they are to the house landline phone, which we use for faxing only. We do not give out this number, ever. UHC has my cell phone as my contact number. Calls to the landline are most certainly not in regards to my policy.

OK, but I work for Ingenix.  Why are headhunters calling me with this number showing up on my caller ID?

Yea sure!! We weren't born yesterday--sammer. Don't companies as normal business correspond by mail and not phone. BTW their call id comes up as unavailable. Idle threats on your part-low life.

    UMR Customer
I had called UMR to ask whether my son's yearly physical exam would be covered since it had not been a full 365 days since the last one. The person at UMR said it would be denied because it had not been a full year.

10 minutes later, I received a voice mail message from this number. It was the UMR rep calling me back to tell me that she had erred. He can have one physical exam each calendar year and still be covered.

    Definitely a legit UMR number.

What do my claims have to do with being asked if I have other insurance. If you r my insurance what the Hell does it matter. And u want to know who is covered? Well my policy is through u shouldn't YOU know!

The reason "other insurance info" is needed is to make sure the claims are paying correctly. Once a year they are required to ask if your dependants or if your over age 65 if you have other health insurance primary over UMR. If you or your depts do and you do not let them know they will be paying your claims primary along with the other insurance causing over payments from your employer. So simply just answer the question its really not a big deal they HAVE to ask at your employers request, why don't you ask them why next time not just complain.

Ingenix itself and these calls in general are annoying. However, your insurer has put you under obligation to answer Ingenix's questions within usually 3 phone call attempts and a written attempt with a tight deadline, or they will simply close your case and deny your insurance claim.
Many insurers do not use such a service, and the concepts of subrogation or coordination of benefits may be new to some people. Pestering, yes. Scam? No.

A lady who identified herself as a United Health Group, representing Regence, made an appointment to come to my house to see if I am aware of all the benefits I'm paying for, like "Silver Sneakers".  The call awoke me from a sound sleep so I stupidly I set up this appointment without thinking.  I have NEVER had United Health Care.  The number that showed up on my ID was 612-234-9000.......I tried calling to cancel and get a recording that "it is a non-working number of United Health Group, and to call the number on the back of my card".
Obviously I don't have a card. I'm not insured by them.  The area code is in Minnesota!!!! Strange!!!!
Making a house call?  Even more strange!  I think it must be a fraud. If someone shows up at my door I won't be letting them in.

received 2 calls from 612-234-9000 Minnesota - on cell phone which I do not use for any business or insurance or application purposes.  Always use my land-line for these purposes.  calls came in on 2 consecutive days - 1st for me and 2nd for my spouse.  Both times the calls were not answered so they left a toll free call back number: 800-806-3242 with a call-back ID reference number.  called them back both times - said they were a Medicare  Revenue Reconciliation Service  & they get their "work" from Medicare to clean out any possible old or incorrect info - dealing with current employment and/or other insurers.  They did seem to have our info -- some of which was old (past employers, insurers) - never asked for anything but our retirement dates & employers insurance expiration dates.  HOWEVER, I called Medicare, who "had no knowledge of this company" so we did submit a fraud complaint w/ govmt. & Identity Theft Alerts.  WHO KNOWS? - best to "Zip-Your-Lips"

I have received numerous calls from this number and do not have UBH as my insurance.  The caller hangs up if I do not answer and never leaves a message.  If it is legitimate, they should leave a message with a callback number.  That number should be one that is on a patient's id card or can quickly be tracked to UBH.  It is not "paranoid" in these days of widespread identity theft for people to be suspicious of callers asking personal information.  Also, what company thinks people will take the time to research a number from an unexpected caller who leaves no message?

I am a physician, and I got a call from this number. They didn't leave a message. I have little respect for UHC as a corporation, but that's probably irrelevant. Why would a company call a doctor's office and then leave no message asking for a return call? If the call is about a patient, and there is a legitimate reason, why not leave a message?

This is a legit number for UMR or United Healthcare. I have a representative working on some things with my insurance, and she called me from this number. If you've contacted your insurance or have UHC/UMR, this might be who calls you.
