Perhaps, for the past month, my mother would be getting an "Order Confirmation" phone call (as appears on her Caller Id) asking for me, as I live with her. I do not know how "they" got my name or my mother's phone number. To my knowledge I have not ordered anything except from the one internet website called dog.com. for a puppy jacket, and that website would always let me know via e-mail whether my order had been shipped or back ordered. So, no problem there. I am very leery of revealing my mother's phone number on the internet, unless I am very sure it is legitimate. The only way I can think of how the party--that has been calling my mother's phone number--received her phone number was if I had entered it at a potential business website "capture page." But even if I did, I never followed thorough on the inquiry to learn more about the website. Then, lost interest. Hence, I have never ordered anything. If I did enter my mother's phone number at a "capture page," it would have been several months ago or more than a year.

I do not know who these people are who keep calling. My mother has complained that the caller would wake her up in the morning during the week. They have even called on Sunday mornings around the Thanksgiving-Christmas holiday period. You can imagine her outrage when she would return from church getting that phone call asking for me, and they would never tell her why they are calling and what was ordered. I am leery of answering the phone call unless the caller would leave more details the purpose of their phone call.

Will these people eventually stop calling and realize no one is interested? I believe the phone call must be a scam.

A suggestion when you answer a call and you get an answering machine or message center:

This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and records the time of day when a person answers the phone.

This technique is used to determine the best time of day for a 'real' sales person to call back and get someone at home.

What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times, as quickly as possible. This confuses the machine that dialed the call and it kicks your number out of their system. Gosh, what a shame not to have your name in their system any longer !!!

got 3 calls from them in one day. finally answered the 3rd call, the man said i was receiving a $120 gas card for only $2.95 shipping. he blabbed for a while until i interrupted and asked where he got my number. he said it was from a purchase i made with one of their partners, i asked which partner i made a purchase with and he said he didnt have that information. so i hung up on him. i havent gotten another call yet but i am somewhat expecting it. this is absolutely a scam.

I just received a call from this number stating that my order has been sent.  I never ordered anything this is a fraud.  The call also stated that any response would not stop the order

I answered the phone and got the same rap as the rest of you guys. They messed up though because they had the last four of an old visa card I used to have. I tried to report the number to the BBB, but the number is not in their database. It has to be a way to beat these guys at their own game. For this suppose business to keep using the same number and having the last four of our visa numbers as well as having all of our phone numbers is a very chilling thing.

I keep getting calls from this number and after reading the comments here I decided to answer.  They said they got the last 4 numbers of my credit card from a recent online purchase.  I said that I wanted to know which purchase, but he claimed he did not know.  Since it is the holidays, I used the card online quite a bit-Toys R Us, red envelope, and amazon.  Not sure if there were others.  Anyone else getting calls after making purchases online from one of these companies?  I am going to call each of them and find out if they shared the info.

This number called me and told me that they wanted to confirm a 150.00 order that I placed.  which I didn't

I received a call and the woman wanted to know if I'm a signer on my husband's VISA card. Very suspicious.  I'm going to report them to the FCC.

they started calling a couple of days ago.  I answer everytime trying to figure out who they are..no one answers, no voicemail.  how can I block them!  So frustrating!!!!!!!!!

I also got a call from this number "giving away" free gas.   He kept arguing with me until I finally hung up.   He told me I had made a purchase with my credit card at some company they were "representing" (yeah, right), but he had the last 4 numbers wrong!   I get so many unsolicited calls like this; they are completely ignoring the do-not-call list.   They just build the fines into their operating budget.   I guess I should just hang up immediately, but I have actually done that and they called back and chastised ME for being rude, when they were breaking the law.   I guess the best thing to do is not answer.

I have been receiving calls from this number for the last week and a half.  The screen says Order Confi so I do not answer.  I did today by quoting a Bible verse.  The man then quoted a verse back to me saying he liked that one, thanked me for my time and wished me a happy new year.  We'll see if they continue calling.  I am reporting this number on the DNC list and hope they can shut this number down.

They called  3 times today, I answer the third time, they said I won a gas gift card, when I asked for the third time where were they calling me from they hang up on me.

I, too, have been getting harassing phone calls from this company.  When we have answered, they are rude to the person.  I followed the instructions on here, we'll see if it works.

Got several call from this phone. They won't leave a message. They call several times a night. So I pick up and immediately hang up the phone or it'll ring for 5 to 8 times before they quit. I'm tired of this crap!

I got 6 calls on my cell phone today coming from that 616 number. I did not answer any of them. Left no message. How can I stop this idiocy? There should be a feature on the phone that can block such phone calls.

what freaks me out is they had the last 4 of my credit card and expiration, wouldnt tell me who I supposedly ordered from.....all I use that card for is paying bills and day to day, its also my debit card...I am thinking I need to cancel it...
