- Mike McCarthyIf it's a male with an Indian accent, he calls with many financial opportunities. One time he was from the U.S.Government Grant Department offering me $7,500 for free. All I had to do was give him the routing number of my checking department. He said his name was Brian Douglas. The next day he called with the same offer and this time his name was Nick Ray.
I kept him on the phone with many questions why I did I have to give him my check routing number instead of simply sending me the check if it was free money.
Just play him and take up his time if YOU have the time. It annoys the crap out of him and he then can bother fewer folks that day. When he calls now I ask him to give my regards to Brian and Nick.- Caller: Various
- grandma1They call and a recording says "this is not a sales call." Then they say that there has been a rash of break-ins in my neighborhood. I'd like to know how they know this when they are calling from a New York or California or Oregon phone number and my local news has not reported these crimes. I hang up on them.
- GaryScumbags called me again. Home security scam. Filed my complaints with FTC, FCC, and state attorney general's office. Not that I think it'll do any good, but at least there's a record.
- Caller: Babylon, NY (?)
- Call type: Telemarketer
- outrageousg98198Call left no message.
- BeechSportBillSpam call about a Wireless Home security installation - 'Referred by a neighbor' -
- Caller: NEW YORK
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Karlyne| 2 repliesYep, a recorded message that says you have been chosen to get a wireless alarm system blah blah blah Aren't these recorded messages illegal??
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Gary replies to Karlyne| 1 replyYes, they are illegal but to say enforcement is lax is a gross understatement. The best you can do is call or write you state and federal representatives and file complaints with the FCC, FTC, and your state"s attorney general's office. It takes alot of time but I do it and I keep records of the calls. I don't expect anything now but at least they authorities know there's a problem.
Supposedly, the FTC is holding a hearing later this month to discuss better ways of dealing with the problem. However, they know where alot of these calls are originating but don't do much about it. Small fine and the telemarketers are back in business in no time. Alot of the calls go through CallerID4U and Pac-West Telecom. I've read where CallerID4U is actually the old Pacific Telecom who the FTC or FCC did fine some time ago. I don't know if it's a fact though. CallerID4U and Pac-West Telecom have websites. You can google them if you'd like. Alot of this stuff comes from oversees and I've been told is untraceable. - Gary replies to GaryI made a mistake in the name of Pacific Telecom. The correct name of the company is Telecom Pacific.
- SDF replies to SBI keep getting this call too (and one about the FBI) but don't have caller ID (as if the # won't be spoofed anyway). Really sick of robo callers. Phone companies need to give us a button code to push so the call can be traced & the culprits shut down. Like spam, any # that dials outs millions of calls in a short time span should be shut down & prosecuted.
- ButchThe Caller ID shows: "4 SPAM (1st line) 631-482-3381" (2nd line)
I didn't bother to answer. The "caller" stayed on the line until the answering machine cut in. Then the connection was broken. No message was left. - jimCalled my home phone and my cell phone within a minute of each other. My cell and home phones have different area codes, so it wasn't random calling; they are tracking individuals by phone numbers. I did not answer either call and they left no messages, but I have the call logs and I have reported them to donotcall.gov
- Caller: Unknown
- SusannaRosannaDannaThey call selling auto warranties and/or home security systems. Always a recording, always the option to "Press two to be removed", but that never works. It just confirms you have a working number with a live body on the other end.
And yes, the same people change phone numbers constantly. - JackCaller ID said 4 SPAM for real, what a hoot. No message. Didn"t answer
- Caller: 4 SPAM
- Ms.agnoliaCall came in while I was out; caller left no message. I blocked my number and called back to advise that I am on the "DoNotCall " list, but my call would not go through. I'll be making (yet another!) report to the FCC.
