Since most of this is the same as a previous msg by a "guy in SLC" I just copied it. And I agree with dropping crap on my phone. To top it off I had to pay  15 cents each for the two consecutive messages.

Ya, I got the text message from a fake phone number (it said the phone number was 5000). The message said "2trueblue4you06 / Hey, I got your number from a friend of mine, but I bet you can't guess who I am! My username's 2trueblue4you06, if you" The message stopped there, and immediately another text message from the same sender came saying "2trueblue4you06 / wanna come see if you recognize me online, at 2trueblue4you06.datehop.net Well, hope to see you soon!" The site does not exist, instead it redirects you to a site called FriendJungle, which a few above says is a scam...so that's what I'm guessing, but I hate someone just dropping crap like that on my phone.

are any of you getting txt msgs from the Obama campain? I do occasionally, and I'm wondering if a hacker tapped there call list.

They have to be working with a call list. Cell numbers aren't published like landlines. I have sprint, and I just got  this message........

"hola, I learned about you and wanted to say hi! Uhm, I'm kinda shy so how about you come check me out online. I got a profile at match-club.org"

No such place...weird.

What's the angle here? You can't spread a virus through the phone, and the websites don't exist...so what are they getting (or trying to get) out of this? Any ideas?

I didn't text back or go to that site because I know I never put my number on some strange website, therefore that person does NOT know me. I also figured it was a scam/virus. Thankfully, I have unlimited text. Plus, the number was unknown, and to think I'd answer an unknown number, you must be crazy!

stupid jerks i got the same call at 8:30 in the morning> same message about them being shy and looking up their profile at club-o-love.com.
I am also a sprint user. There was no call back number only a redirection to some site.

Got a text from 'pookitou19982' stating:

-- Hello. SOrry we havent talked for a bit i lost your number. Why don't you come see me at pit-o-date.com, my name there is pookitou19982.

(exact grammar-- whatever person organized this was intelligent enough to realize people make mistakes in texts more often then not, thus resulting in people being more liable to believe it is indeed a friend texting them.

This is irritating as I am on Telus and this year they stated that all incoming texts (whether you wish to receive them or not) cost .15c a message.
This new statement may have been revoked due to public outrage- I've yet to check it out.

I had my phone number on facebook and have since removed it. I've never posted me phone number anywhere else for people to view publicly.
Facebook is getting worse in my books especially concerning personal information, I sense a devolution.

Exactly what the message was, luckily I have unlimited texts or I'd be pissed though I am upset that some [***] autotextpornbot got a hold of my number.
