I received a text message telling they got my number from a friend and you need to go to daterock.org to ceck "me" out.  
Checked google first...glad I did!

Hey I totally got like the same thing last night!! But, mine didn't have a # on the text.  it was just blank.  and it just said go to daterock.org  but i am not going!!  i figured i'd just look the website up on google and this popped up.  Thanks for your help!! P.S. i have verizon.

I received the exact same message Friday  9/11/09.  It freaked me out because there was no number, so I didn't know how You can get a txt without having the number.  
I am a verizon Customer and I just started using Face book, but did not put my cell number on it.

I received a blocked phone call from a woman claiming she was from Publisher's Index Office to which I simply hung up. She calls me back twice on the third call I answered again. She calls me ignorant and hangs up and so the internet search starts.

I thank Paul for posting there phone number "Publisher's Index Office is located in CHEEKTOWAGA, NY.  They can be reached at 716-824-3400" I called and spoke with the owner, he seems like a nice guy once you get past the fact that he must get complaints all day. He told me he has been doing this for over 50 years and assures me that this person will be terminated as this is what gives telemarketers a bad name.

The text came to my husband phone while he was at work. He showed it to me when he got home.  I did a little searxhing and founf that I can file a complaint with the Attorney General.  The site to go to, if you wish to file a complaint is... http://www.oag.state.tx.us/consumer/complain.shtml.  If these text messages really make you angry, please file a complaint.  If we do nothing, that's what will be done to stop it.

Correction to above notice.  Run a search for your state's Attorney General.  The site I gave you before is the State of Texas Attorney General.
