I got the same message: "Hey I got your number from a friend of mine but I bet you can't guess who I am!" the username is xavelynx. Obviously, something is going on with T-Mobile because everyone that is on this board says they use T-Mobile. 5000 was the # on mine too...annoying.

According to T-mobile rep that I spoke with these are mass mail spam messages that are being sent by someone that has worked out how to hack the t-mobile system and send to t-mobile subscribers using the @tmomail.net email. Every t-mobile subsciber has this email domain, which consists of your phone number and the t-mobile domain name ie. [your phone number]@tmomail.net. The T-mobile system does not currently have the capability to block individual text messages, however, the technology is due to be rolled out in a few weeks time. In the meantime, the only thing that you can do to prevent being sent unwanted spam messages is to login to your my t-mobile.com account and set the email filter to block all email messages sent to your handset.  If your unsure of how to navigate around the my t-mobile website follow these instructions: Login to your my t-mobile account, scroll down to the communications section, click on the pink "web & tools" header, then under the Resources section, click "Create e-mail filters" then select "Yes" against the action "Block all messages from E-Mail to handset" and select "No" against the section action "Allow messages ONLY to 'My Phone's E-Mail address'" This should work.

The real disturbing thing is that this was on my brand new, pay as you go phone, and no one has this number yet except my mother,boyfriend, and boss. And I have never used this number for any contact information. ALSO since this was sent as two texts and it used up my minutes that I pay for that is really [***]. And i have also received spam from people selling stock information.

Is there a do not call list for cell phones? Or is this not illegal and therefore fair game for spammers?

okay so i get this random text from spicy_grl sayn she knows me n that i should go to datehope.net to find out who she is it came from the 5000 number or sum crap like that, why isnt tmobile doing something about this, were the ones being harrases but we gotta pay the $16 to change or numbers?? thats some Fnckd up bulls*@%

I RECEIVED A CALL TODAY STATING THE SAME THE ABOUT SOMEONE GIVING MY NUMBER OUT TO THIS PARTICULAR PERSON AND I WANTED TO FIND OUT WHO IT WAS I HAD TO GO TO MELNITE.DATE-ARCADE.ORG. WHOEVER IS DOING THIS NEEDS TO GET A LIFE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOTHING ELSE BETTER TO DO THAN MESS WITH PEOPLE WHO THEY DO NOT KNOW. THEY WILL PAY FOR THEIR NONSENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!11

I also recently received the same 2 text messages on my T-mobile phone. Unfortunately, since I have more than a single phone on my plan, all of my phones received the same messages.  That adds up to some serious $$.  Especially, when it costs 15 cents per message.  Text message #1 states "Hey, I got your number from a friend of mine, but I bet you can't guess who I am!  My username's classy_mclady.  Text message #2 says, "if you wanna come see if you recognize me online, at classy_maclady.matchclub.org Well, hope to see you soon".  I suspect this is either some hacker, or a quick way for T-moble to get some business, by making unsolicited text messages to their customers.  Since T-mobile has received so many complaints about this, I am wondering why T-mobile has not only reported this to the authorities, but agreed to take these charges off their customers bills.  By the way, this is NOT the first time that these types of messages have appeared on my phone.  However, I can assure you that it will be the LAST time.  I, for one, REFUSE to pay for these UNAUTHORIZED text messages.  I would rather report them to the Attorney General and advise them of this ongoing situation, as with other customers, and have the Attorney General speak to T-mobile to find out why T-mobile isn't doing anything to find out WHO is doing this, and WHY.  Maybe then T-mobile will agree to do something to correct this problem with its customers.  Something is very suspicious.

I did a search for the information regardintg this phone number also.  It says that the phone number belongs to someone in MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA.  I guess we need to contact the Attorney General there and advise him to check this out for suspicious activity.

The same thing happened to me too just a little while ago. Funny how my cell phone company is also T-Mobile. MMM...something smells fishy...

My Wife got the same text. Someone is making alot of money off this scam.  I
think it is time that legal action should be taken.  I think that cell company
are selling the numbers for profits.  Also Google for they are letting these
scam artist use their internet connection.  My needs her cell for work, not to
play stupid games.

my fiance got that same damn text yesterday on july the 8th saying got your number from a friend not sure if its right go online a match-club.net and c if u recognize me but when u go online and look up admira8 it says no found matches.that [***] is [***] up it caused us a huge argument.

I got the same text but there was no number and no way to reply only to fwd.....im not even a tmobile customer....beware people it has spread to other services.
