What good is the now call registry if calls like this one keep coming daily?

Got a call from 646-453-1349 at 5:51 PM today. The caller ID reads "New York NY." Upon call back, all you get is a busy signal. I called the 212-260-0070 and spoke to a nice lady from Central Marketing and said she removed me from the list.

Tired of them calling me even though I am on "do not call" list. Asked to be removed again, and got hung up on.

I'm getting these calls about 4-5 times a day, every day again. This happened last year too but then it was about every 20 mins. I finally answered the phone with "Sheriff's Department, how may I direct your call?" The guy on the other end seemed a little shocked, asked if this was a business. I just said ""Sheriff's Department, how may I direct your call?" with a more stern voice. They stopped calling.

I think I'll try the "Welcome to USA prime credit, my name is Peggy, what is problem?" from that Discover card TV ad. Too funny.

I've received several calls today from (646) 453-1349. No one at the other end, so I hang up. A few minutes later, the idiots call again and still nobody at the other end. Is this some kind of game? The FCC and FTC must prohibit these automated robocalls, where companies have computers do the work that humans should be doing. A bill collector called me two consecutive nights at 1:46 am, probably they pressed "am" instead of "pm". The debtor was another person with a name similar to my spouse's, but it took me one month to nail down the company and I obtained it at a site similar as this.

received a call, did not answer it as I do not recognize the number. I'm in Texas and unless I have you programmed in my phone, I do not answer ever. They did not leave a message.

Yup - 646-453-1349 still is making the calls & no one is there when the call is answered.

How interesting that the 212 number is given out and then you find a bunch of people saying how they called it and the people were real polite and took them off the list.  Don't ya' think calling that 212 number is exactly what they want.  Someone's making money off this long distance call.

Have received 3 calls today from this number.  Never anyone on the other end, caller ID reads Out of Area.  After I said "I'm on the Federal Do Not Call List" and hung up, I started getting calls from "Anonymous".  Lovely.  A pox on them all!!

I called the 212 number and a lady answered and was nice about removing me from the list. It's a political policy polling company. We will see if it works, but thanks for the 212 number!

They've called my house 3 times a day.  Never anyone on the other end.  I called the number that was provided to have them remove my telephone from the list.  I hope it works, because it's extremely annoying.

I changed my greeting on the answering machine to:  hello, if you are a soliciter hand up and never call back, anyone else please leave your name, phone # and the time you called and we will return it as soon as possible.  probably 80% of these called have stopped. I never answer if I don't know who's calling on my ID, try it!

This nuisance caller phoned me four times in two hours after 7:00PM today.  I answered none of the calls, finally deciding to block the number so that they get a busy signal and then a hang-up.  So much for them.

How is this system so unregulated that these scumbags can spam my phone even though I am on the do not call list?

Have been receiving calls from 646-453-1349. Used the reporter Lauren's advice and called central marketing at  212-260-0070 and ask to be removed from their contact list. I did this and was treated very well and advised I would be taken off their list.

They've called twice from "646-453-1349" and three times from "Unknown 1" today, SUNDAY, July 15, 2012. I called the 212-260-0070 referenced and gave them my number to get off the list. Don't really care if they sell it as they must already have it. I ignore most of these but after multiple calls I answer and make them wish I hadn't.

Suggest if they won't leave you alone, answer without identifying and by saying "WHO ARE YOU?" They ask for me by name so I repeated my question, they hung up. I'll continue to do this... they bother me so the least I can do is bother them. I'm in Texas and like the "Sheriff's Dept" answer idea, perhaps add "homicide division"  for future calls.
