I just got the call 5 minutes ago, said "hello" 3 times and no response from caller... I hung up.  I'm glad to know it's Scotia so that the next time, I can threaten to close my accounts with them if they don't stop with the annoying phone calls...

Received a call but when I picked up it got disconnected. Seems to be some robbers trying to see if I am there at home.

Marketers... Pain in the butt. But they do have a job to do. I wish I could just block them. I just opened an account with them (Scotia). If this keeps up I'm going to have to change banks. I called the local branch and the person there said that they have no power to stop the calls. Hmmmm.

dead air phone call .. irritating

I know this is a telemarketer because they always call after six our time zone.  It would be 8:00pm Ontario time.

I got a call a 7h45 pm.  Was not home but my mom was.  She answered and the told her that it was Scotia Bank and it was VERY URGENT.  Call back Customers Services and they do not have any note in my file that they are trying to reach me!!!

, i wondered when saw 647, it fooled me as New Liskeard On. starts with 647 numbers.  Is annoying, having Scotia calling and wasting my minutes, I hang up but from now on will not answer the phone, as someone said, if it is important, someone from Scotia will leave a msg..  would like to figure out how i can block these calls on my cell.

I just got a call from this number as well- 647-288-3817 - I've added it to the "banned" list. I don't care WHO the calls are from - I will NEVER answer.  Anyone that seems uncomfortable displaying their name or a company name and does not leave a message is a nuisance call at this number!  If they are LEGIT they can leave a message - otherwise they are a stalker/nefarious individual or company as far as I'm concerned.  If they ARE a respected company then they SUCK at  p.r.

I just read other messages and noticed the reference to Bank of Nova Scotia! I got a call from BNS, Tuesday June 21st and the caller, Claudette, said it was URGENT but I never connected it to these other nuisance calls until  I perused this link.  She called from a 1-888# and said she was calling customers to advise them that a couple of CDs had gone missing within the Bank on Monday, May 9th and are still missing.  The names of customers and their account numbers on ON THOSE CDs.  Now I am really worried seeing the number of people that have been called. and I'm hoping that I didn't divulge anything that would help crooks.  

I hope other people will post so we can determine if this is legitimate or cons.  If the latter, we need to advise the local police fraud squad - if they have such a  thing - to investigate or hopefully advise us.

It's a company posing as Scotia Bank Canada, an Asian scam to take more money from Canada.

As they are always selling phony life insurance policies!

got a call at 6:37 PM Nova Scotia.  No message left. I do have an account with Scotia Bank but no debts of any sort with this bank.

Called a short while ago.  I too am a Scotiabank customer, but I picked up on two calls recently that said they were calling "on behalf of Scotiabank"....sounded like telemarketers in their approach....I twice told them that I was not interested.  No foreign accents....sounded Canadian.  No caller ID on this latest call and I am getting fed up because they call so frequently.

Bollocks! It has nothing to do with the actual mortgage... this comes from Scotia Bank handing out your contact information to telemarketers for a profit. Contact Scotia and threaten to remove your account, like I did, if it happens again.

They called me, and you could hear the group of men laughing hysterically in the background, while the man asking to speak to my husband laughed at me and began to mock me because I couldn't hear him over the storm. I called the bank asap the next morning and no problems since.

Hey, I called them. It's the "Optima Communications" on behalf of Scotia Bank.  It's Scotia, trying to get you to sign up for a/another credit card.

Just got a call.    Actually very polite - asked for my husband, when I said he wasn't in, they told me it was Scotia Bank making a customer service call.

The answer I gave them was a big no...these two Heather being one.. the finalizer was bullying.. dominate and pushy..  My husband finally gave them the yell.. hang up they are scammers...!!  What upset me was that they had personal
information on me.. only the bank would have known..

It's scotia financial wanting to know if you want to purchase life insurance.

The only products I have with Scotia are 2 bank accounts, everything is elsewhere and I am not behind on anything...This is not a number for collections as they would be sure and are legally obligated to leave you their contact info...This is a telemarketing plan through Scotia to get any of their existing customers to add new products to their profile..
