- Kay replies to GUESTGood try Naomi and Kevin. No one believes this!
- NIce Try replies to GUESTNice try "guest" or should I say, one of the scammers who work for this so called attorney that doesn't have a Bar license filed in the state of MN?
I We can all play pretend as a kid, but calling ourselves lawyers or doctors then or now, doesnt make it true. - Ironic replies to Total scam artistsOMG! That is very ironic as I believe that is similar to what happened to me!! My college's database was hacked into and then shortly there after, that was when I started receiving calls from this Kevin character claiming I owed for a book! Last I checked, colleges make you pay for the books WHEN YOU BUY THEM at the beginning of the semester.
I kept explaining to him I had no clue what he was talking about and I haven't been in school for over a year and half. To which he replied "Yeah, that would be right, September 2010." "wrong again kevin, I went on medical leave and left school the end of the spring semester in 2010." And I guess since he never went to college himself, he doesn't realize the spring of 2010 is before fall of 2010, so he says again "Yeah, this is from before that, like I said Sept 2010"...
I kept letting him know I have no clue what "debt" he's talking about and I'm not willing to pay for something I don't owe. After that, he just ignored me and talked over me, repeating himself that "he is trying to help me out, we can work this out today if I give him my bank info, if not he'll sue me for the $100 cost of this book".. LOL, seriously?? A legitimate debt collector would not spend 30 minutes on the phone trying to collect on a "$100 debt", especially one that doesn't exist!!
And Here's a little info for the others checking this fraudulent "attorney" out-
According the the Fair Credit and Reporting act of 1974, if you ask for proof of the debt to ensure it's validity, they HAVE to provide it or cease and desist all collection and reporting efforts ASAP.
And no kevin, saying "come on, just pay it" doesn't count as "providing proof".. (Yes, that is what he told me. The more I insisted I had no clue what he was talking about, the more he kept saying to just pay and it will all go away.)
Another anecdote from the FCRA1974, all debt collectors must notify you in writing PRIOR to calling on a debt. They MUST send you a letter, giving you 30 days to respond, and then they can proceed with calling you.
It seems their scams are to buy or hack basic info on the person, like your wife who was once a patient there, her info and that patients 50% of the time carry a debt, so they were banking on that, and banking on peoples general fear of being sued, so they think pretending to be a lawyers office lends them credibility. But they always ensure to claim the alleged debt happened several years in the past, hoping you may be like "did that happen? Maybe I do owe this" and then just pay out of fear because "an attorney is calling".
But a good rule of thumb with this scam artist is to just get their name, and as much info as you can out of them, without taking ownership of the alleged debt, unless you do owe it, and then call the Minnesota Attorney General ASAP. - Getback 82 replies to jLFThat was a racial comment and you should be charged with racial profilen. - CashmanClanJust received a call from these people for my daughter, wanting her to call them back and how they were from a law company by the name of Goggins Lavintman. If you look them up, their website looks legit, although I'm in the habit of googling all phone numbers that are not in our area. Which brought me here and of course just another scam number. I just feel bad for the elderly or others that these horrible people continually scam. Does anyone know a website or number that people can report these pieces of trash?

- E. B. BluntDebt collectors are the scum of the earth! They get a large percentage of what they collect. If you really owe the money, cut them out and pay the to the person you originally owed. Most of them can't get real jobs because of the way they look (bad tattoos, weird piercing, ugly, and really fat), otherwise they could get real sales jobs. I feel sorry for anyone who gives them money, just pay who you really owe and tell them to eat s**t!

- Also called, don't write checks replies to GUESTYeah sure it is... that is why all of these people had 3 NSF checks that they didn't know about in 2005-2007. Sorry "guest" obviously you work for the scammers and are going to rot in hell.
- ex employeeOk this is a legit attorneys office the attorney is Joel lavintman and peter jerik, they have been a law firm form 33 years they make money strictly debit collecting. They work for clients such as ic systems a collection agency and telecheck, but they are a horrible company. Their tactics are rude, cruel and unprofessionali have worked in customer service for 11 years and was shocked at the things that happen there!! The literally tell their employees that they should not care if the debtor lives or dies! I have seen co workers flat out call people liars and thieves and harass elderly on fixed income into pay $50 a month which is prob all they have to live on. Just know if u tell them u r not paying and will not pay all they do is road your file out and move on, they do not legally do anything to u , they will threaten u that they r "turning ur file over to the attorney" but all that happens is they junk it. They do nothing to u, its just scare tactics. Tell them to find a real job and stop bottom feeding. Glad I am gone and getting a education so I never have to live that horribly miserable lifestyle

- NicoleIt is a legit debt collection company yes I know because I do owe money that I thought was paid off. HOWEVER they are completely unprofessional and rude. I tried to explain to them that I was not comfortable with providing my account information and they proceeded to tell me that they knew I was not going to make a payment wouldn't let me talk and I was hung up on three times by 3 different people.. When I asked to speak with a supervisor they stated that they are not a customer service company and basically didn't care what I had to say..
The people were rude unprofessional and condescending... makes me want to pay them right away...- Caller: GogginsLavitman
