Meant to post that I called the Antioch PD and they said there is nothing they can do. They wouldn't even take down any information. Unless you actually give money, there is nothing they can do. I said but if people don't report it you won't know. They said they are aware of this and IRS scams, but nothing they can do. When I called this cell number back, it said it had been disconnected or changed.

Just got a call from this number as well and they asked for my grandmother by her actual name and said it was her grandson. I asked who was calling again and they said her grandson. She only has one grandson and we knew it wasn't him so I said what's your name and they hung up.. I wish there was a way to report these people. If you try to call the number back it says out of service.

Someone asking for money in need to get out of an incident  in Dominican Republic.  A real sob story..

My husband and I moved in with his mother to care for her.  Call came from this number today, 12-16-15 at 9:30am.  "Hi Grandma, how are you?"  (I am the mother of her ontly grandsons, and knew this was not one of my kid - also they know my voice from hers and they know I live here so red flags popped up immediately).  I replied, "This is not Grandma."  "Oh, is this the ... caregiver?"  I asked who was calling and they hung up.  Calling the number from her landline the recording says all lines are busy (?) and calling from my cell, recording states the number has been disconnected.

Called the police, an officer will call me back to get info.  Dispatch was going to send out a car but there's nothing I could tell him in person I can't tell him on the phone.  Don't want to waste their time.

Called saying he was my grandson and knew it wasn't.  This is the third call of someone saying they are my grandson.  Too bad they can't be found and arrested

Hey Grandma! Do you know who this is?  This is your oldest grandson. I said no it isn't. This is a hoax and I hung up.

Male called me Grandma & said he was my Grandson. I said which one & he said the oldest. Continued to talk about a car accident in the Dominican Republic where he went for a friend's mother's wedding.I asked him who he was & he said your Grandson Giving me the correct name. He stated he had a broken nose & busted lip as I stated he did not sound like my Grandson.  He then hung up.

Got a call this AM and said hello Grand Pa? l said who is this, then he then hung up.

I'm a regular observer of this site  and see the usual scams that come from worldwide but this scam is odd. Professional scammers move around the country targeting different zones using random dialling within an area. This one , however , seem to only target the elderly within the state which leads me to think that the caller is resident here or visits frequently. This is one you have to report to the local Police as they are not choosing people at random but the elderly that don't have family living with them. I don't mean to scare anyone but you know your own kin , just don't be fooled.

Call from this number saying "Hi Grandma".  I don't have any older male grandchildren so I told him he had the wrong number and hung up.

I got one a few minutes ago as well, but I knew the scheme, so when he said hellop grandma, I said yo u've got the wrong number, I'm not your grandma, and he said.. how do you know you're not my grandma.  I just hung up. Didn't want to give him anymore of my time.  Parasites such as this is not worth it  . I'm sure they get their kicks out of reading out post.  Stupid .losers

BTW...The call was from the Bakersville  California area

This was previously reported to our local police, so they know and have warned seniors. Our local paper and TV channels have alerted seniors as well.

Called today... same story... Hi Grandpa... blah, blah, blah... if he calls back we will call the police... never asked for money but I'm sure he was ready to do so

My mother received the same call as many have also reported.  The caller said he was her grandson, gave her the correct name of her oldest grandson and asked how she was getting around.  She believed it was indeed her grandson and thought that he knew she had surgery on her leg last year since he asked how she was getting around.  Thank God my mom had the presence of mind to call me before she paid these thieves.  My mother received the same type of call about 2 years ago and now she has been scammed again.  Please, please warn your elderly family and friends about these evil crooks!  Please, please let your elderly family and friends know that these terrible people can find out their name, age and relative's names on numerous websites...without spending a penny!  These crooks should be found out and penalized severely for taking advantage of and upsetting our older friends and family.

This number called my grandfather in Northern Virginia claiming to be his grandson. My grandfather said that the caller was male and sounded Hispanic. DO NOT GIVE THIS CALLER ANY INFORMATION.

Asked for Grandma. Caller said I broke my & I am in the Dominican republic, please don't tell my parents.
I called him out & he hung up

My Mother was called by this person saying they were her Grandson. I answered the phone. They were perpetrators
