They call me almost daily too. Isn't there a way to file a suit like you can with the do-not-call list? They continually change their phone number to make it difficult to nab them. We need to work together to whip these alpha hotels.

yep. i just got the call today 678 265 1568  and the caller id is (Marietta) GA. they are a collector. she asked to speak to me i said he is not here can i take a message. she said Non it's ok. and hang up.
They call me 2 times every morning with a 800 service then they try one more with a different number.

The head of there legal department lobbies congress for sweet laws for them. He does not want any restriction on how often they can call, or if they should inform you of the fact if you make any payment that you re start the clock on legal action against you. His private email is

These people have called me for over a year, often every day.

This was Portfolio Recovery trying to collect a 20 year old CC debt.  Yes 20 year old.

They keep calling but will not leave a message.

Dont ever answer nor return calls from a number you dont know, whether you owe a debt or not you dont know whos on the other line. Keep all of your contacts in writing whether it be via E-MAIL, FAX or U.S. Mail. Keep a paper trail. Have them verify your debt in writing. Along with not answering the calls dont ever give them any info over the phone. If you dont want them to call you anymore register all your phones with NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY at: WWW.DONOTCALL.GOV also you can file a complaint with the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION at: WWW.FTC.GOV you could also go to their website: WWW.PORTFILIORECOVERY.COM and contact them via email and send them an E-MAIL or letter via U.S. MAIL to "CEASE COMMUNICATIONS" and they will have no choice but to contact you through the mail. You are so right!  Don't pay them a penny!  I have a bill from 1990 and they still call.  I don't ever pick up the phone and I will never send them ANYTHING!

This phone caller calls at least 3 times a day and never leaves a message. This needs to stop I don't owe any money to these people if this is a bill collector

I did submit some concerns/question for Portfolio Recovery Associates, on their FAQ page, and I hope they post them up on the FAQ page. here's what I sent:

"Why the hell do you call people with every GodDamn number in the phone book showing up on the caller ID?"

"If you call someone and get the answering machine, can you people at least do some heavy breathing so they know what that call is concerning?"

I think it would be quite fun to harass them back by submitting sarcastic question in the FAQ.

'Just called the FTC about these guys ...  they keep calling my number about somebody else's debt.   I've told them that the person they are looking for is not at this number (we've had this phone for about a year).

That lasts for about a week or two and then they call again from a different phone number.

The FTC says all I can do is send the caller a certified letter telling them to stop calling and then, if they call again, I can go hire an attorney and file a lawsuit against them.   I told the lady at the FTC that I don't have the money to hire an attorney and asked them what they do when somebody files a complaint.   She said that they use the complaints to determine if there is a "pattern of violations or illegal activity" but, they don't go after violators based on individul complaints ...

So, they were about as useful as boobs on a bull ...

Getting annoyed. Someone above mentioned that this is a debt collector. Also like the lady above we have no debt ...or old uncollected debt.   The phone they call (I always miss the call ) is a spare cell that we only use when we go shopping as a family. I am going to see if I can get this cell added to the NATIONAL DO NOT CALL NUMBER:   1-888-382-1222  !  Love the national do not call system ! So good & helpful !   These random numbers that keep calling are annoying as this phone is only used for family!

I suppose they are looking for someone else & think this is the number. No calls to our landline. But since it is just a spare cell by the time I find it the call is over. It is starting to be several calls a day.
