got texted from this number 12 times got charged £1.50 each time dosent show up on phone just on my bill

Received 12 texts costing £1.50 each time nothing received not requested unsolicited.  Virgin network

i have been charged 6 tex messages @ £ 150 each on the 28/11/09 all at 16,30 hrs that i do not know nothing about

did you ever get to the bottom of this. my lad is on Virgin and the same thing has just happened. virgin say he must have subscribed to something and want nothing to do with it !

When T-mobile and Virgin debit the accounts for these 'services' they keep a percentage before passing the rest of the revenue on to the companies responsible for these services.

They must know who they are!

You guys should be kicking up merry hell with them and insisting they tell you who they are.

you all should be reporting them to Phonepayplus

I have just received a bill from virgin that had £18 worth of text messages received from 700034757 on my sons phone!  It took a while but managed to work out that he had enter some kind of competition by texting 84228, which is related to Purely Creative LTD and once you text the send you a series of texts with so-called winning passwords and are charging £1.50 a time for them!!!

My handicapped daughter showed me her bill earlier today... almost £60 from this number! One text out at 10p to 84228, 6 back from 700034757 at £1.50 each, then repeat over and over every 2 minutes!

I asked her what the received texts contained, she said she didn't see anything at all!

Exactly the same thing has just happened to me. £18 worth of texts @ £1.50.

Has anyone elese tried to contact the text provider or alert virgin to ask for a refund or report it to ICSTIS as fraud??

I too have just received my sons mobile phone bill & he has 6 text messages on it from this number costing a total of £9.00 - £1.50 per message. I rang phonepayplus & was informed that this comes from the scratchcards usually found in newspapers or magazines. Apparantly to enter a competition you send a text to 84228. It does tell you in the small print that you will then be billed £9.00 as the cost of entering the competition, which is in the form of the 5 text messages costing £1.50 each. If you text 84228 more than once, then you get sent 5 text messages for each text you send. He told me that you can ring Purely Creative Ltd, the compant who is doing this on 0870 0500755 and ask them to block your number to avoid any further charges.
Hope this helps anyone else who falls prey to this.

I tentered a competition and didnt read small print. I am being charge 6x £1.50 please call 0870 0500755 and have your number blocked or it will keep happening.  each time you play they charge £9.00 made up of 6 text each at £1.50

My son fell to the scam as well. Just received the monthly invoice from O2, he was charged 18 x £1.5 = £27. Is this kind of operation legal in the UK? Possible to recover the charges?

ive just had this scam done to me. I rang orange and they have refunded me the whole amount and VAT but i did have to kick [***]!!!!

After reading these posts wished I had read the forum and shown this to my 11 year son- before he sent a text to that dreaded number! Phone has been now been removed and will be held until the bill has been paid by my son- (a number of months pocket money) Hope this will teach him and others a lesson- but it should be that Purely Creative Ltd should be

I received a letter saying Id won a prize and needed to call 09061583423 number or text 84228 to find out what the prize was and claim. I checked on line first and glad I did.
IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE ~ IT USUALLY IS!

hi ive had same trouble , but greatful to the person for putting the number on to ring and stop it , the company also going to look in to it

Why doesn't anyone take this up with Ofcom, scandalous. looks like we've all been stung
