- PeevedWhen i contacted Virgin about this problem the lady on the phone actually argued with me saying i had recieved these text messeages even though i haven't and that they couldn't do anything for me it was not thier problem. I have tried all thier numbers so far and none have got me anywhere. I'll keep going but it's really annoying that the phone company's refuse to help!
- MattI spoke to my local trading standards office today because i have been charged. I have also spoken to the useless people at Virgin who offered no help whatsoever. I have spoken to Mobile CRM and she said she is going to try and get a refund for me, although I won't get my hopes up!
Next step is to do what trading standards told me to do which is write a letter to the manager or Mobile CRM stating that they are in breach of contract and that I would like a full refund and no more texts!
I will let you know what happens. - D ThomasMuch the same as the rest fof you, I got 5 charges of £2.55 on my Orange bill with a reference 'Payforit'. Orange advised me to contact Mobile CRM. I've written to Mobile CRM and received a reply on a very dodgy looking letterhead (actually it looks as if someone has done this from their own home and confirms my suspicion that I've been ripped off!). The letter from Mobile CRM states 'We can see from our system that someone using your mobile has taken advantage of the free offer by downloading Mercy on 24th January 2009...Unfortunately, as this service was subscribed to you are not entitled to a refund'. This is deeply unsatsifactory but I feel powerless to do anything other than winge on here!

crime doesn't pay [OH YES IT DOES] - dave wooding| 1 replyi to have been charged £3.00 on three occassions. i have just come off the phone from virgin and been told i will have to pay. i have now emailed the CEO Neil Berkett at neil.berkett@ntl.com to see if i can get any satisfaction and to see what they are going to do about this. if all virgin customers email it may move them into action or at least refund the charges.
- dave woodingfurther to my previous comment in regards to 700138151 above i have found out the the number in question belongs to a company called 2ergo and have found the joint CEO's names and contact numbers so will be trying to call them tomorrow.
2ergo Group plc 01706 221 777
Neale Graham, Joint CEO
Barry Sharples, Joint CEO - jayi just found out that i've been charged since Jan, a total of about £51.00 I feel like an idiot! My provider T-Mobile, a person called Diane, couldn't do anything, they said it was to ived do with myself and the third party! I explained that I hadn't receiheved any messages, she said that the company Mobile CRM had sent them a list of text dates that they had sent me....I argued that I had not received any texts, she said I had!!!
I phoned the numbers of the CEO at Ergo or whatever they are called, she said that they were out and she didn't have their diary, I said was that a everyday thing that they would not be there??? She put me forward to their customer services centre, the girl there told me that they know of who is sending me the charges if I give her my number, I asked her how and she said as they provide the technology to them, they have access to how is sending the supposed texts to my phone.HaHa, made me laugh, I asked her what her mindset was like working for scum!!! She told me that you don't actually receive any texts but are notified initally and then billed every week. She said she would get someone from Mobile CRM to call me.....seems very unlikely! They're all at it.....scum, scum, scum!!!!!!
I feel really disappointed with myself that I let it go on for so long....thinking about writing to Watchdog, maybe if we all do they might investigate.
good luck with your refunds - AnonHaving the same problem
My son got a £10 per month o2 simplicity SIM card - His first bill was £42!!!!.
I queried with o2 who told me that I needed to text STOP to 3 different nos. Trouble was that in the month they had texted my son 30 times. !!!
O2 were worse than useless and didnt want to know (presumably they get a cut) - They told me this wasnt a selected 3rd party.
Have tracked down the company and sent them emails which (surprise surprise) have gone unanswered.
How companies can send YOU a text and it costs you is beyond me. Is it legal - I'm taking it further as I've got the bit between my teeth now - Dropping 02 pretty quick to

Mobility: Content: A cut above
September 01, 2007
(Total Telecom Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Innovation in the premium SMS market is being stifled by mobile operator revenue-sharing models, with smaller content providers and aggregators being hit the hardest. But the growing interest of larger companies such as eBay in using premium SMS to charge for new services could force operators to change their business models. At present, mobile operators can take up to 50% of the revenue generated through premium SMS, but models vary widely. Jeremy Flynn, former head of commercial partnerships at Vodafone and now CEO of mobile video specialist D2see, says UK operators generally keep around 20% of revenue from premium SMS. Mobile transaction specialist mBlox confirms this, adding that while 80% is passed to the hosting content company or aggregator, 95% of this revenue share is then passed to the content provider. This is a similar model to the participation TV revenue share (see diagram). But for smaller content platform developers such as Mobiya, the revenue share model breaks down on average to 50/50. Based on the model of a premium SMS costing 1.50, Orange UK keeps 68 pence including VAT while Virgin Mobile keeps a whopping 98p. - pedro lagartostop cend messagem tank you

- Birgit PI have a nifty little setting with my T-mobile contract that is called "Charge to account Bar" it blocks all attempts to charge for other than calls and txt that you MAKE and will not let you RECEIVE £4.50 txts and games notifications. I didn't get anywhere with them about charges already applied to the account but it's not going to happen to me again. Best thing to do is to delete all apps and trial games as soon as you get the phone! I know, boring!, but cheaper in the long run.
