- AnonymousI got a call today stating that I won a $1000 online shopping spree. The person asked for my age and where I work and whether I wanted to sign up for a magazine subscription. After reading these comments I am very scared. I wish i was smart enough to have found this website before I gave them my age even though that was all they asked for (does that mean that they have every thing else the steal money from me). The number they called me from was 954-414-7313, the caller ID is QOTIENT CORP. The started calling me after I signed up for some offers from BargainCast, net which I am finding out may be another scam.
- Cynner| 2 repliesReceived a phone call from Publishers Service Company stating that I had signed up for their service through My Rewards something, which I asked the rep to repeat and she again slurred the last word. I do online surveys and such, but I don't sign up for such things because they are usually you pay for this and you may get something for free and I don't have money to throw away. I went along with it and then looked it up. I got a phone call from her supervisor to set up initial payment. She asked me questions like how much I made, how long I'd lived here, etc. I asked why that information was necessary, she said to qualify me for the payment plan. She then asked for a credit card number to charge the initial $3 and something. I advised her I don't give credit card numbers over the phone (I work for a credit card company - bet they didn't plan on that). She gave her speil about how they are legitimate and wouldn't be authorized to work with major credit card companies if they weren't legit and she had to have the CC # to be able to authorize the first payment and give me a tracking # for the $1000 shopping spree I'd won just for being "a preferred customer". I declined and told her to cancel it. They were very nice and I'm sure this isn't a scam, but just a clever marketing scheme to sell magazines.

- angie replies to Cynner| 1 replyI'm worried because I gave them my info (credit card info included) but then changed my mind the more they talked. They started changing their story so I told them I didn't want it anymore. The lady told me that I had already agreed and there was nothing she could do. When I asked her well what if I just hang up, she hung up on me. I have changed my card number already. Are they going to turn me over to collections or anything because I originally said "yes"? I'm worried to death! The thing that makes me mad is that I have NEVER done anything like this before! I feel sooo stupid! Has anyone ever gotten out of this deal?
- angie replies to angie.....I need to add that I did NOT give her my social security number. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.
- Jeff in NJHas called my cell phone consistently twice per week for the last 8 weeks. I did not answer yet, but will now that I have read these posts. Sounds like a scam to me!!

- matthew mckayI was blogging on phillies.com and saw a spam reply to get a free pizza hut gift card. I clicked on it, and against my better judgement began to give basic contact info, full name, tel #, etc. When i got to page 3 and they began to ask for credit card and bank info, I wised up and left the page. I immediately began receiving sales calls and and replies for my supposed request for college info. I replied that I have a graduate degree and requested no such info. Have been deluded with sales calls and realize its my own fault. But in my case, since no one else has my phone #'s and I responded to no other advertisements, etc. I know these scammers must be the guilty party. If they call, tell them you have spoken to an attorney (I am an attorney myself) and threaten to sue for harassment and/or FDCPA violations. Demand to be put on he no-call list and have your contact info deleted from the database. Also, tell them that you know they obtained your contact info under false pretenses. That is normally enough to send them scurrying for cover...
