This is a debt collector, who repeatedly calls. Contacts the Federal Trade Commission and your state's Attorney General to complain. They are not allowed to harass people, but unless you complain, it will continue.

Got a call from this number.  Thanks for all your comments.   In return, I will tell you how to have them stop calling with little or not effort.

When a debt collector calls, and they are legitimate or not, tell them that you automatically record all your phone calls and if they do not want their calls recorded, then hang up.  If they continue the conversation, YOU ASK QUESTIONS and don't give any information.  They more they talk, if they are rude or agressive, they less likely they are to be legitimate.  Legit firms will be formal and will not want to be recorded and say as little as possible.  If they ask a question, respond with "for personal security reasons, I don't discuss financial matters or give out any information over the phone."  Just keep repeating that for every question.  They won't call again.  If they do, it would be good to record such calls.  If you don't have the equipment (i.e. answering machine, computer, or similar), use Google Voice (see www.google.com/voice).

If they continue to call, you will have a very good case in small claims court if you decide to impose fines on them.  But that is a whole 'nother ball of wax that you can research online.

This company 716-564-4905 calls me several times a day. When I call back, they don't even answer with a company name, just, "This is Lisa how may I help you".

I went to the FTC - Federal Trade Commision's web site to see who to stop them. They have rules for debt collectors. They can't call before 9 am or after 8 pm. They have to identify themself and the company they work for. They cannot call you at work or leave a message with another person other then you. Carlos was correct in sending a certified  "Cease and Desist" letter. If they call you after they received this letter, they might have to pay you a penalty fee that can be up to $1000 per call. You have to document the call. Check out the FTC.

I like Jen Asper's solution as well. A good whistle blow into the phone works well too. I told one called that :This call is being recorded and monotored by the FBI for training purposes...They hung up.

Fight back by calling the FTC.

I owe BOA under 14K and have missed several pmts but after perseverance from 1st Source
Advantage llc which they claim BOAmerica turned over to them for collection they scared me
to the point of trying to solve so I sent them a money order and agreed to $400 a month.  Well
circumstances caused me to not be able to pay this month after 2 weeks behind.  I told them
I would send a money order near this months end.  They were not satisfied with that and wanted me
to place a check for the amount with them.  I learned a lesson with that over a year ago when
another bank actually took out almost $900 right out of my account in another city.  I absolutely
will not give them my banking information.  So now they say I have 24 hours to place a check
or they will turn it over to BOA for the full amount due.  As it is I don't have the funds to settle
this right today.  I am in my 70's and now they have me worried.  Can you advise what I should
    do.

If you owe on a loan (I take it this is what it is) they worse thing they can do is take you to court - file a claim and if they win garnish your wages.  They can call and threaten all they want - if you do not have the money - they will have to sue.

These people have been calling my cell phone for over a year! I made the mistake of answering in the beginning & told them they were calling a wrong number, I wasn't the person they were looking for. A year later and they're still at it. Now I just let the call go to "iBlacklist".
