So this number (7182227178) calls me for the third time today. First call was at 8:10 AM. I thought any type of "business" call couldn't start until 9AM by federal law? So it's 2PM and I picked up. This automated voice comes on and says "please hold while we transfer your call". Some guy on the other line says "Can I have your name and address for verification". Red Flag ... so I said to him " you called me, what's your name and where are you calling from?" He didn't answer my questions, he said it was "courtesy call" and wouldn't tell me where he was from. So I said I do not give out my information over the phone and he hung up. Unprofessional if you ask me. The funny thing is many have said they call fro ConEd, but my bill is paid for already WTF, really?

ConEd for sure.  Called the number it will say ConEd now.  First call at 8:37, 11,2 and then 5 set my phone to go straight to voicemail.  My bill is paid in full but I did get the second notice they needed payment. The red stripe envelope, I checked my bank just to make sure they were paid they were.  I also thought you couldn't call someone before 9 AM. Now they can't for me. Also never once was voicemail left.

yes, they've been calling me now too - glad to know it MIGHT be CONED - I may have paid late, but that bill is paid. First call - 8:30 AM, second one an hour later....and the days just begun. They might have called last week too since I got a 718 call from a number I didn't recognize and didn't leave a message. No messages - but thanks, I will not give personal info AT ALL just to be safe....

YES. It's a collection company for Con Edison. They are an outside company not directly associated with Con Ed.

It's ConEd. All you have to do is call the number back and it says on the message that it is ConEd. It's that simple. It couldn't be more simple or obvious.

YUP.... CON EDISON a little reminder  you havent paid your bill and a disconnect notice :) ITS 5 days after they called and i still have power.... i paid TODAY :)

No answer on this 718 222 7178. Must report this to the police. Received the call 8:13am.

I haven't lived in NYC for 3 years, while I still have a 212 number. They said it was for a late payment and that my power was due to be shut off if I didn't make the payment. Again, I haven't lived in the city for 3 years.  Told them to shut it off then (I never told the crooks that I no longer live in the city). If you give your info to these people you deserve the identity theft that will begin to happen.

I have received 4 calls from this number today. The recording says to hold on while the call gets connected. I hung up.

received several calls several days but never leaves a message.
I just blocked this number.

I just got a phone call from this number 718-222-7178, they did not leave a message.  Are you sure that this is a bogus number? Maybe a collection agency?
