These guys recently started calling...they never leave a message...who the h is this and how the h do I get them to quit calling?

I got a call from this company.  They wanted me to give my name and phone number.  They said I owed money, but I do not have any account with them.  They told me to shut-up about 20 times.

The bottom line is if any debt collection agency claims you have an outstanding debt, ask them to sent you some level of proof through the US mail. One of two things will happen, they will, or they wont. The latter is the answer you will recieve, they wont send you any proof in the mail at all. The idea is to use fear rather than truth.

recived a call from this number I answered it and they hung up after I answered it they didnt say anything   so I dont know why they would call if they are not going to say anything and just hang up

Just got a new phone number via Vonage.  Must have been a recycled number as I've been getting calls from them.  I answer but no one is ever on the line.  Will have to put in a change of number request.

I have now received calls from Portfolio Recovery Associates, from 9 different numbers. "Norfolk VA" is the caller id displayed. When I block a number, sometimes they don't call for a few days, and then I receive calls from a different number. They never leave a message, and from what I see on this website, I don't think it is worth it to call them. I plan to file a complaint with our State Attorney General, which has worked in the past.

They have acct that I never paid through captial one but who would i call to see if capital one just wrote off my money that i owed them because they never called me about being behind..but this portfollio does and i have paid them some money but i can't catch up on it and they keep telling me i'm further and further behind..help!

Don't pay them a damn thing.  They are a secondary collection agency buying up old debts.  They actually are called "Zombie" debt collectors because the statute of limitations has run out to collect the debt but they keep harassing for it anyway.  Whatever state you are in...check your statute of limitations on unsecure debt collection.  If its a valid debt still within limitations...work it out with original creditor and pay these idiots nothing!  Don't let them scare you or bully you...it's against the Federal law for them to threaten you or anything...ignore their calls...find the letter on line to tell them they may not contact you by phone anymore from any number that their company owns or is represented by.  They have dozens of phone numbers they will call by...don't answer calls you don't recognize..let go to voicemail...etc.

Seriously...not one penny more to them!  They are scam artists!  Read all the blogs and websites with info on them.
