Had similar experience; female with indian accent suggested my computer has been sending error messages and that internet viruses had infected my computer and could activate at anytime.  I advised I had antivirus, spyware and malware protection on all my computers apparently didn't phase her.  She actually asked me to turn on my computer and I informed her I was not near it at the moment.  She then made some comment that if I wasn't concerned at which point I hung up on her ass.

    (800) 123-4567 call back attempts get a "I'm sorry your call did not go through" message from the Telco, , so I suspect it's a spoofed number. When I answer, they always hang up.

Received call about my computer affecting their Windows server.  When I asked what IP address was giving them messages, they said 119.113.1.42 which is a China IP.  Never clear what he had in mind, but certainly a scam.  In fact 800 123-4567 is surely a phantom number.

I got a call from this number saying it was a representative of Microsoft. It was an Arabic or middle-eastern accented man stating that my computer was at risk of viruses and malware being downloaded while online. I was directed to microsoft event viewer to look at these error messages, saying these were attempts by hackers to plant fake programs and viruses/malware/trojans into my computer while surfing online. The call was cut off suddenly after saying I don't have issues while surfing online, just while playing graphic-intense games. I went online right afterwards and found out they are scammers trying to gain remote access to my computer for their hacking or other illegal activities.

I had the same experience.  Caller claimed to be from Microsoft with heavy accent.  I was told that my computer downloaded malicious software that needed to be removed immediately before wiping out my system.  When I asked how they knew my computer did that, they said they had a some identifying number.  I then asked them which computer or IP address and they said they didn't know either of those things.  So I then asked how they got my phone number connected to a computer they couldn't identify and they didn't have an answer for that either.  Instead they kept insisting I go to a website to download a fix.  I told them their download was probably the malicious spyware or worse.  Further, my number was on the DNC and that they shouldn't call it again.  Hung up.  This was their second time in a day calling me.

Have been getting them calling me, saying they are from Windows, and that I have a virus of some kind.  I always reply that I'm not near my computer at the time and they seem pretty displeased with that then ask when they can call me back to fix the problem.  Naturally, I don't answer the phone now.

scammers claiming your computer has a virus--funny, I have all MACs.  Idiots who can barely speak English--bad English at that.  Lots of background noise, so it must be one of those sweatshops where these smelly vermin spend their days bothering hardworking people on weekends and evenings. I'm on DNC list, which is useless. Bogus phone number too. They should limit their calls to their fellow far easterners who might be able to understand them.

I was told that the caller is from my "Operating System's Office," they are aware my computer is sending messages without my knowledge.  She wanted me to turn my computer on and log into her website.

And I'm on the "do not call" list!

I got a call from them and verified that I owned a computer. After they asked if I was on the computer currently, I said I wasn't interested in anything they were offering today. The guy said "Then why the hell did you waste my time?!" I simply replied..."Um, you called ME." Then he hung up.
