My wife booked a cruise with them for $118.  When I got home from work, I did my research and found the website for this cruise.  I also called them first thing on Monday and talked to this lady who told me it was a two night cruise to the Bahamas with a resort.  Later on my wife and I decided that we did not want to take this cruise since we were researching other cruises that we were planning.  I called and asked for a refund and yes, they gave me these different options on what I could do with the reservation.  But that is their job.  If you booked it and already gave them your money then they are not just going to hand it over.  That is part of capitalism.  If you made a mistake with booking it and refuse to admit it by blaming the company and calling it a scam, then you are a scam yourself.  I ended up getting the full refund within a week with no paperwork involved.  This is not a scam so long as you deal with these specific people.

It's basically a fraud.  Ostensibly you've won three nights on board a cruise ship but it's essentially just an opportunity to sell you a vacation you never would have bought in the first place.

I paid for the $59 "government port service fee" x 2 people (=$118) before realizing that this was nothing but an upsell opportunity.  When I made it clear I wanted nothing to do with the offer, the supervisor refused to refund the $118 and hung up.  I'm now pursuing the matter with RBC Visa (who so far have been VERY UNHELPFUL) and with the RCMP anti-fraud line.

I believe that I got a call from this number after a was given a computerized telephone survey about a political issues.  After completing the survey I was directed to a website without a contact us tab called www.2011getaway.com after I was told have only needed to get to palm Beach and pay tips and for drinks. I was also told about needing passport. The caller gave me the 800-221-8200 number after I waited for a link to an offiical company website via email.
I was also directed to a port of call website (http://www.portofpalmbeach.com/celebration/bahamas-cruise)
that said they heard of the ship, the Bahama Celebration, which started out with a different name ( Princess R...)until 2009( which I learned about after using the number given to me by someone that answered the phone form the 2nd website). I am always suspicious about free stuff, unless I can walk down to their place of business the same day. Use your local ports for cruises (it sustains local jobs). We have a cruise line in Red Hook Brooklyn. I can take a cheap bus to Norfolk, VA. This means that if my neighbors went their to work. They are close to their loved ones.

You people are FOOLS. If any of you actually went on the vacation you paid for you would of known this. It is a FABULOUS vacation. You paid for an extended stay. Do the math, you can't get a vacation in Florida and a cruise for that price anywhere. We went and had a great time. You just had buyers remorse, but you should have went on the vacation. The cruise ship is awesome. You all missed out!

$118 charge showed up on my BOA VISA... identified as RAM Caribbean Line w/ 8002218200 phone no. As far as my wife and I know, they never called and we DO NOT KNOW HOW they got our credit card info. I called BOA to dispute charge and they insisted that we cancel current card no. and get new credit cards because account is compromised. Good grief - lotsa hassle involved for us having to notify legit vendors of monthly charges of our new credit card no.!

Okay, boys and girls, here's the scoop:

This is NOT Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
This is NOT Carnival Cruise Lines.

It is SORT OF legitimate, if your idea of legitimate includes time-share pitches (some people's does -- I don't judge others).

Caribbean Cruise Line is NOT an actual cruise line, but is a MARKETER FOR TIMESHARES that gives away discounted entry-level cruises on CELEBRATION Cruise Line as a pitch to get people to attend time-share sales.

They have a LOT of websites to direct people to, depending on which offer they're pitching:
    http://www.grandcaribbeancl.com/
    http://2011getaway.com/
and some others - they're pretty much the same.

Celebration Cruise Line IS a cruise line. http://www.bahamascelebration.com/
It owns a SINGLE cruise ship, which is a CONVERTED BALTIC CRUISE FERRY. They really DO sell entry-level cruises, but perhaps 30%-50% of their occupancy is supplied by the time-share marketers.

If you pay ~$300 per person to Celebration, Celebration will take you on a short, entry-level cruise to Grand Bahama Island, which is their only destination.

If you pay $59 per person to Caribbean, your salesperson will attempt to sell you numerous upgrades, and you won't get on the ship unless you collect your tickets from the "Welcome Center" which is one of the various Mind-Numbing 4-Hour Time-Share Sales-Centers in that part of Florida. If you survive that, you'll get your tickets and board Celebration's Cruise ship.

Opinions vary as to whether Celebration and Caribbean are the same company: Celebration says "NO!", while Caribbean says "Yes, we own an $80 million dollar cruise ship"

Complaints run pretty high, because "Caribbean Cruise Line" isn't real explicit about what it really does, and doesn't much like to refund money, even though they operate under Florida law, which requires them to give a refund, if the refund is requested within 30 days of accepting the pitch, or receiving the packet with the details, whichever is later.

IMO, if they were a bit more explicit about what they're actually doing, they'd make far less people panic and try to cancel, and thereby have far fewer complaints.

Bottom line: With some effort, you really can go on an entry-level cruise for $59 per person, (plus airfare, parking, etc., etc., etc., but most you'd have to pay for on a regular cruise anyway). HOWEVER, the difference between flying to Florida, and booking a discount-priced cruise on a big-name line from a port NEAR YOU might very well pay for the the higher-prices cruise on a much-better-known cruise line.

The same thing happened to me! I was just about to give them my credit card information, but my mom (who was with me at the time) picked up the phone and told them to stop calling.

This is the information I was given:

    1 (800) 221-8200

    Jessica Oldaker

    Corporate ID: UA242

    Caribbean Cruise lines

(It was the 2 days of free cruise leaving from Fort Lauderdale in Florida, and I only had to pay $118 in port taxes. The other $500 was being waived).

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT ever give your card information out!! I work at a bank, and was just dealing with a customer that had the same thing happen to her. I am truly surprised how many people fall for this.
If you want to go on a cruise, go to your local Travel Agency, and book something there.

These people are [***] morons!!!  I got a voucher in the mail a couple days ago and usually when people use high pressure sales with me, I just hang up, ignore it or let them blah blah and then hang up on them after they've wasted their air...  I just got off the phone with the 1-800-221-8200 number and was put on hold for over 10 minutes after being transferred to the customer care specialist. What kind of name is that for people that "accidentally" hang up on you and when you try to call back, they are conveniently closed for the weekend...  How RUDE!!!!  Specialist my foot.  I then called the number I called this morning 1-800-586-6693, which is the number to call when you "claim your voucher" for the free cruise.  Some woman named Annie Brown and I had it out because I gave that phone number my c.cd. information and she said there was nothing she could do about it...  Psssshhhh!!!!  WHATEVER!!!  Stupid people!!!!!  I got mad, told her I was going to report her company to the BBB and hung up on her while she was still talking.  So mad at myself for actually falling for something definitely too good to be true.

Scam or not the reps are rude and evasive. I signed up for a package that that I did not use. the company called to say my package was about to expire. Not wanting to take the trip I to the rep. to refund my $99 deposit. That was months ago and the check never came. Fast ward to today, this rude kid calls to tell me that my package expired, and I cannot have my money back, but I can sign up for another package.
I asked to speak to his supervisor. He said he was the supervisor and that he was trying to do me a favor by offering me this new package.
His attitude and demeanor were so shady that if he is a supervisor for Caribbean Cruise Line please watch your wallet.

    SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!!!

Then when I called for a refund, I was transferred to Adam, a "Specialist," who was BEYOND RUDE and SO DEMEANING!!! I told him I wanted a refund. He said, "Why would you want a refund? Does your husband not want to go on vacation with you?"

I told him I wanted him to cancel the transaction as I just gave them my credit card number less than 2 hours before. He said it's impossible and non-refundable. I told him I know that under Florida Law he has to give my money back within 30 days, and I asked him what the statute number was so I could go look it up. (Thanks to Dex's post, I knew that one existed and I looked up the statute after this conversation). He said "there is no statute in Florida that says anything like that." I told him there was one and I found it and I wanted my money back." Then he said, "Pursuant to that same statute you're reading, you can't have your money back. You have to read the fine print on pages 51-57." Which is bogus... statutes don't have fine print and they aren't labeled by page number.

Anyway... I was furious that he told me originally that a statute didn't exist, and then he automatically knew exactly which statute I was referencing! I told him if I didn't receive my money back I was going to report their company and Adam himself to the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General.

He said "I've already gone over this three times. If you have nothing new to say then I am not going to banter back and forth with you."  What a jerk.

I told him I was going to contact an attorney (I work at a law firm) and contact the BBB and Attorney General. I hung up on him.

Within an hour a different representative called me and gave me my money back with a confirmation email. It only took 10 minutes to actually get my money back after the 2 hours I spent on the phone trying to get these people to actually agree to give my money back.

LONG STORY SHORT: Don't let this happen to you. If  it DOES happen to you, STAY ON THEM! Be persistent. They will tell you that there is absolutely NO WAY to get your money back. And they will say they have a voice recording of you accepting and authorizing the charges. It's all BS. Just tell them that Florida Law says you have 30 days from the date of purchase to request a refund and they have to give it. Again, they will argue with you. Then tell them you will contact the Attorney General and the BBB. EVENTUALLY you will get your money back.

As soon as my money is refunded I'm going to write the Attorney General and BBB anyway, just to give them a heads up. And I'm going to call this Adam jerk and tell him he's an idiot.
