I tend to believe it IS walgreens. I just so happen to have a prescription needing refill and they called me today. coincidence? i think not.

I called Walgreens consumer relations number (8009254733). Customer Service took me off the list. Painless.

if you work for Walgreens, then you do not know you system.  This Is Walgreens calling.  Ask a co-worker who has a clue.  I've gotten these reminder calls for WELL OVER A YEAR now.  This is the 1st time it came from an 800# rather than a local number.

Just received a call from this number on an unlisted phone and I don't have ANY prescriptions with Walgreens.

I didn't answer this call.  For those of you who assert that this is Walgreens, let me ask a question:  if it is Walgreens, why didn't they put their name in the caller ID?

I'm the mom of a Walgreens pharmacy tech (she's in a busy 24 hr store) and this is not a scam.  It's a fairly new service whereby Walgreens can refill your medication before it becomes due and causes a scramble for all involved.  Waiting until the day of, or later, often causes a wait time while they fill it and there are other scrips ahead of you, or problems if the scrip is expired and you have to wait while the doctor's office is contacted for an okay. Basically saving headaches and time for all involved. My dad and I have both received the automated call (and I explained it to him too) .. Not a scam.

I just called Walgreens and talked to the pharmacy supervisor.  He stated it is not Walgreens.  DO NOT give them any of your personal information.   Walgreens has your information if you have gotten prescriptions from them.  This is a scam.

I suggest each person call Walgreens for yourself to verify if they called.  Glad I called and found out this is a scam.

It's amazing how many scam posts there are in this thread asserting this is Walgreens. This is NOT Walgreens calling you. Walgreen's would never ask for your DOB with all the identity thefts going on these days. Think about it, why would they need your DOB? They already know who you are since they called you... Don't fall for it.

I thought it was going to be a scam, but I called my longtime Walgreens pharmacist and he just sighed.  Her sounded like he was fed up with the system already. He said it started 2 months ago. The first thing he asked me was my DOB. So, it *is legit. I would always check this stuff out first though. And, yes, it is a refill reminder. I don't know why people need one because I see the pills disappearing. I need a pick up reminder!

Yes, it is Walgreens. I know because when I answered, it gave me my prescriptions and I pressed the refill button. I picked up my drugs the next day. It works well, but I can understand people being distrusting.

Funny thing though, when another prescription was up for refilling, I did not get a call...

this is not walgreens! got a call from 402 area code which is in nebraska,i live in ohio,my walgreens calls me from here and the number comes from here,do not trust this,do not give out your info.

Guys, i  just called the 800-925-4733 number and that is Walgreens...spoke to a very nice young lady named Erica who told me that is the national refill reminder call.. its legit..

I live in Canada, we don't have a "wal-greens" so, why would they be calling me or here?

just got a new cell number today.  got a call from "walgreen's prescription reminder"... problem is the call came in on a bogus number in Omaha (402) 220-1100 but told me to call this 800 # (800-289-1179).  I've never used Walgreen's, there isn't one within 50 miles of my house, but they had my name.  Very fishy.  They've called 3 times today.  I finally called and hit 8 to opt out of their scam.

Has anyone else noticed how all of those who are claiming these calls are legitimate calls from Walgreens, that they ALL have misspelled HIPAA? HIPAA is an acronym for Health Information Portability and Accountability Act. Hey, you phishers and scammers!! If you're going to post fake comments about your scam, mix it up a bit!! Making the same, stupid spelling mistake demonstrates that either it's the same person posting these comments, or a group of petty criminals working in a boiler room, using boilerplate scripts as material for their comments. Duh . . .

Called the Walgreens number from their website 877-250-5823 and they confirmed it was a legit reminder call.  Had to call the local store the prescription was filled with to cancel the auto-call service.

8002891179 is not legit.  I got a call last month and when I entered my birthday they offered other services, a cruise, etc.  in an attempt to get more info.  I've talked to people at Walgreens (I just received another call today) and they verified it is a scam. The people here saying it is real are probably part of the scam. Walgreens reminders never ask for info, they just tell you a prescription is ready to be picked up.

This is a scam, I don't take any medications.....
