Had several calls from this number , they are pissing me off because I signed a cell contract and later been told I have to sign a new 2 year extension contract for my internet service if I want to save $ 2.89 for the bundling. I have been with rogers internet for 10 years , now they pissing me off even more !
Getting a new cell contract and the sales people tell you that you save aditional money if you bundle and than such a screw up to linger you into a new internet contract
So I told them screw that, cancelled and took my number to BELL.

The law is you can cancel and return your phone within 14 days and less than 30 min of talking time
    with any provider.

Unfortunately, if you live in Canada, telling them not to call may not work:

"Telemarketing calls from organizations with whom you have an existing business relationship are […] exempt [from Do Not Call registries]. You are considered to have an existing business relationship with a telemarketer if you:
       • Purchased, leased, or rented a product or service in the last eighteen (18) months from the telemarketer;
       • Have a written contract with the telemarketer for a service that is still in effect or expired within the last eighteen (18) months; and/or
       • Asked a telemarketer about a product or service within the last six (6) months"

As Marburn explained in a previous post, the telemarketing company in question — SMT Direct — represents numerous major corporations: Bell, Rogers, Sprint, Primus, Ford, American Express, the Bay, CIBC … (http://www.smtdirect.com/en/about_clients.html). If you have done business in the past 18 months with one of their clients, then they are allowed to call you as often as they like. (Switching to Bell, as one commenter proposed, would be ineffective because Bell uses the same telemarketer).

I am a Rogers customer, too: internet, iPhone, and (until recently) home phone. They had been calling me incessantly, trying to sell me cable t.v. (I don't own a t.v. & don't want one), or add-ons to my wireless plan. I solved the problem by ditching my landline, installing an iPhone call-blocking app called "iBlacklist", and blocking the numbers associated with SMT Direct.

    It worked like a charm.

I am a Rogers customer myself: internet, iPhone 4, and (until recently) home phone. They called me incessantly, attempting to sell me cable t.v. (I don't own a t.v. & don't want one), or add-ons to my wireless plan.
In the end, I solved the problem by:
    i) cancelling my landline,
ii) registering my iPhone number on the National Do Not Call List,
iii) installing an iPhone call-blocking app called "iBlacklist", and then
iv) blocking the numbers associated with SMT Direct (along with another two telemarketing companies).

It worked like a charm — mission accomplished.

I talked to Rogers today about blocking this number since it originates from Rogers Telemarketing. Rogers tells me that if I want to pay an additional $5.00 a month per cell phone, I can get this number blocked. What a racket, send there customers annoying messages and them charge them to block them. Some companies will do anything to make a dollar. I wonder if goverment regulations knows about this and if its legal. Maybe Rogers needs to be hauled into court and forced to get their act together.

This has been a call about 2-3x a day-always only 2 rings and a hang-up. It is REALLY REALLY Annoying.  Now that I know it is Rogers, I may re-think keeping this contract when it is up-I never got calls like htis when with Bell.

This number is calling my cell phone 3-4 times per day. I don't pick up. It's infuriating.

If it IS Rogers, they should know that most people don't pick up if the caller ID says "Toll Free Serv".

those rascals are calling me again too.  I wonder how much savings they could pass on to me if they would stop with these calls, and the snailmail glossy catalogs.   Apparently rogers logic dictates that if one is willing to pay exhorbitant fees for calling texting and internet, they will also want to pay  for rocket sticks (something that clearly belongs nowhere that isn't the backpage of a nineteen forties comicbook), and also for an unbelievably crappy expensive phone service that has no business being anywhere.  Settle down Rogers!

    Bah
Call centers often run more than one campaign per client, so if you have a home phone account with them already they could be offering a modification to your plan or whatever. I've found Rogers will often do this in order to extend the length of your contract, keep you locked in, etc. I've worked the phones before so I usually hear them out. Sometimes it's a decent deal but others its just terrible.

If you want them off your back, the absolute worst thing you can do is lie about being unavailable or ignore the call. You'll just be placed as a "callback" and will get a call again (after all, you gave the person on the phone an "out" and they don't want their conversion ratio to suffer needlessly. Usually a DNC request will serve the same function and so telemarketers won't mind a polite, unelaborated DNC request from a client because it allows them to move on with their day without getting an earful or a mountain of attitude).

These freaking [***] call me EVERY DAY and whenever I pick up, it just goes dead. If you dfon't answer, they don't leave a message. When you call it back, you get a generic voicemail saying that they are calling on behalf of Rogers Communications, and tell you that if you want to be put on their "Do Not Call List" to leave your number -- I've done that about 3 times, no no avail.

I don't know who these asshats are, but I am this close to reporting them for harassment. It's impossible that they are affiliated by Rogers...must be fake info...

You guys complaining here are idiots.

I used to work for the big red monster and I'll let you in on a few secrets:

1 - nobody dials by hand, they use a dialer.  After you say hello it takes a minute to click over to the agent because Rogers doesn't want their agents talking to answering machines.  That's why you get a few seconds of dead air.

2- They don't leave messages because THEY NEVER GET TO YOUR VOICEMAIL!  (see #1 just above).  In addition, I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate a voicemail telling you they called to offer you something but you can't call them back anyway because their outbound department cant accept calls.

3- If you don't want to hear from them again then politely answer and ask them not to call again.  Don't be a dick, people are just doing their job and they don't need your crap.  Plus, if you're rude, what are the chances they're going to listen to you yelling at them?

4 - to the idiot complaining about CRA not leaving messages then "blaming" you for not answering: I'm sure that has more to do with privacy laws and less to do with "citizen service".

That's my rant for today.  Relax people, don't be dicks on the phone.
