When I answered a call from this number, I was immediately put on hold saying they had an important message for me.  I was then disconnected before I could hear the wonderfully important message.  Bummer.

We still owe a little bit money, not much, a few hundred bucks. So it is OK to ask for the money back. But it is not OK to be rude on the phone and not identifying when giving a call and not sending proper documentation when being asked for.
So, when this company calls, not identifying themselves, we simply pick up, hang up, call back and hang up again, some partial payment already being mailed out.
And by the way, they are somewhat shady, I agree. Don't know why, but talking to them is like talking to a warden (haven't been in prison, but this impression I get).

it's all confusing...I want to share my story:
Finally they called again, initially I even didn't know what was going on and got upset, because they NEVER identify when they call, and before even answering they let you wait 10sec on the phone. So, they said I still owe $50, I was so confused (because we had to pay Doc AND hospital separate with 2 separate collection agencies), that I nearly exploded. Since it is an old bill (4 little staples in ER = 2x$600=$1,200) I paid it off. At least I hope it is paid off, they told me it would be the last $50 I have to pay.
I know that they are only doing their job, but this "nonsense" is all so confusing, when you get letters without clearly indicating for what services you pay-and when you get letters that blist something, suddenly you get the same aspects listed with two agencies, the Doc billed for the same and then again the hospital, and you have NO chance to straighten anything out when you ask why you get billed twice for the same services. So, in the end I wanted her to listen to me ( I am VERY rude, when they confuse me, and I am for sure not too dumb a guy), I was polite after I paid the last $50 of my bill for my child, and I told her, that this all is so confusing, that you get the feeling to be scammed. She listened and showed some understanding.
    ==============
The end of my story is, that I KNOW now that the American health-care-system is financially a big, huge market enterprise and somehow even a financial scam with hardly any consumer rights and "customer" service, when you have a problem and need help. Next time I have to go with one of my relatives to the ER I will take a suitcase filled with money with me, open it, and say, that I will pay preferably in advance so I can get directly a signature that the coming bill is already paid off, for whoever is trying to squeeze me out of the last penny after any service took place. Or better: I get a whole physical makeover, and then file bankruptcy because they made me mentally too confused. ;-)

These people are terrible. I lost my job 6 weeks ago and have been going through the process for financial assistance and they have been calling my former employer and friends and DEMANDING payment. They are very unprofessional and unwilling to deal with anything except FULL PAYMENT. They make you feel worthless when you try to get payment arrangements. Very shady and horrible business practices.

This company needs to get a grip! Latoya or Toya called me at my place of employment(which is a no no anyway) and when I answered the phone. she said she was inquiring as to what my intentions were concerning this hospital bill.
I informed her that my intentions were to pay it just as soon as I had the money.

Her reply was that I had a job, and I had the money, and how would I like to pay this bill.  She could take a check by phone if that would be easiest.

First, to tell me I had the money when "I" know I can't even afford to go to the grocery store is an insult to
my intelligence.  I am working and taking home less than $300 a week.  A roof over my head would be nice!  I understand that I owe the money, and if it takes $10.00 payments and that's the best I can do....that's all I can do!

No partial payments discussed AT ALL!

I have to wonder when the last time she was ill, needed extensive care, and had someone tell her that?

I told her not to call me at work again...the job I have, I don't want to loose due to some "Houdini" that
    knows my situation.

Message left asking me to call Alex Reid, with a different phone number (18882367619).  Telling me it was an "important business matter".  If it's an important business matter, I should be addressed by name and informed as to the nature of the business.  Otherwise I will ignore the message and delete it.

I get calls from them from time to time in regards to a $84.00 bill I have.  Granted, I probably can pay it but my other bills come first and if I had anything left over, I could pay.  But with collection agencies for medical bills, DO NOT pay these agencies.  Pay the hospital themselves....online.  That way, you are directly paying them and they should have record of payment.  I always do this if my bills go to collection ( which seem to be only 60 days after any services..).  We have alot of medical issues in our family and have a lot of bills so we just pay what we can when we can.

Using the term "SLEAZY" for J. P. Recovery Services, Inc.is being nice!

Even when YOU pursue THEM to settle the claim against you, they are rude, uncooperative, and unreliable.

I had an insurance issue where the hospital and this collection agency would not communicate with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, other than through some electronic middleman agency.  The middleman agency was against picking up a phone and talking to a human voice at BC/BS, even when I presented the direct phone number to them.  I spent 45 minutes getting them to do a "special mailing" of my faxed insurance information to their middleman.  So pathetic!

Elevating your issues to their managers results in absolutely no results.  They are just as ignorant!

Be careful with these folks it you intend to clear everything up!  They don't send correspondence that show a "zeroed balance" for your records.  They are sloppy and have no problem showing that they honestly don't care about what they do.  It's like they want the problem to continue on and on.

The bright spot in all of this is that they cannot continue to do business this way in the future.  Don't expect them survive in their line of business.  "God don't like ugly!"

Yes, this is one of those outfits that calls you, and a robocaller machine says, "Please hold for the next available agent."

Anyone who calls me had better be ON THE LINE when I pick it up, or I will hang up.  You call me, you had best understand that I feel no need to be on hold for an anonymous [***].

This is JP Recovery services and they are real pieces of work. They collect medical debt. The particular debt they keep calling me about is with the Cleveland Clinic. The actual debt itself is a billing error on the part of the Cleveland Clinic. They charged me for services that my infant son did not receive while in their care. Actually the services would not have been appropriate for an infant and if he had indeed received them this matter would be the subject of a malpractice suit. The Cleveland Clinic acknowledged their error and for a year insisted they were correcting the matter. Instead they turned us over to these losers. This company has been informed verbally and in writing that the debt is not valid, and they just don't care. They continue to call and try to bully us into paying this very substantial bill that we simply do not owe. I keep asking them to just take us to court and sue us so we can counter sue them. They don't like that and become very hostile and belligerent. Since the bill actually belong to my special needs son, who is approaching two, I think I'm going to start letting him take the phones calls and they can listen to him shriek in their ear, since that is the only mode of communication he possesses and he finds "talking" on the phone to be a real treat. I don't think it will make them stop calling, but at least I won't have to talk to them and he will get some enjoyment out of the situation.

I get multiple calls a day from this agency because the hospital did not submit my billing information to the insurance company in time. I called the insurance company and they said that I would not be responsible for the bill because it is not my fault.

Well low and behold, JP called me again asking for payment. I told them what was going on and I wanted it taken off my credit. They said the only way for it to be taken off is to pay it. I told them according to my insurance company, that I would not be responsible. They told me they needed to talk to my insurance company because according to their records, I did not have insurance at the time. I asked if a faxed letter I had from BCBS insurance company stating the dates that I was covered would be enough in the meantime and they said no.

During the entire call (which I was put on hold for to begin with), I kept getting interrupted and they were talking about a different subject than I was trying to tell them. If they had let me speak, a lot of this would have been cleared up to begin with.

I still get calls from them (although the hospital and the insurance company says it's been paid by insurance company), stating that I need to remit full payment of $2,156. I told them to take it off my report because it has been paid. Then they told me "For us to take it off your report, you need to pay this. I have two other people on hold that needed too be attended to. I asked if they could transfer me to another person who was just as rude and told me flat out that it needed to be paid by me in order to be taken off my bill."

I wonder how much commission they make off of these payments.

I decided to have fun with these folks - --
i took the call and then told them my name was Greg - not Glenn - the proceeded to tell me all kinds of things -breaking what is called the FDCPA - I informed them 5 times I was not the party they would like to chat with - and at the end of the call pressed play back on the android - and voila - played to them their entire conversation -

In that conversation they told me I needed to just pay the F**** bill or they would continue to call.

Amazing - now the funny part -
I am not the debtor - but they verified the debtors home address with me.

I am proceeding to let the Ohio State Auditor's office and a few others know about the call.

    Gotta love a stupid collector
