- Mr. R| 4 repliesI RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS COMPANY (CPS?). THE GENTLEMAN CALLING SAID HIS NAME WAS JULIAN GOMEZ FROM CPS. HE SAID THE CALL WAS REGARDING CASE # 5418713. HE SAID IT WAS VERY IMPORTANT THAT HIS CALL BE RETURNED (1-800-460-0086, X115) AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. HIS VOICE SOUNDED VERY OFFICIAL. WHEN I RETURNED HIS CALL HE ASKED IF MY NAME WAS RAFAEL BEDINCOURT. I TOLD HIM NO AND HE APPEARED SHOCKED AND DIDN'T REALLY KNOW WHAT TO SAY. HE THEN ASKED IF I KNEW ANYONE BY THAT NAME. WHEN I TOLD HIM NO, HE SAID ARE YOU SURE, AND I SAID YES. HE THEN HUNG UP WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION.

- Perry Mason replies to Mgj12CPS is a fraudulent company that is operating illegally and can't take any legal, or non legal actions to pursue an old debt. Ignore their calls and report them to the Federal Trade Comm., or send a cease and desist letter if you can obtain a address.....these people are pond scum!!!!
- Cat replies to Jim| 4 repliesHope you will report these incidents to you state attorney general. I received a call for the first time today and he is trying to intimidate me by stating I must call today.
Just want to remind everyone to be careful what you do on the web - last week I input info for an insurance quote and next day started getting scam calls. - Erica| 1 replyThis Stan Smith called my ex and said he was from CPS, I thought Child Protective Services was after me??!! So I called "Stan Smith" back and left a message asking him to call me ASAP, I worried all night last night, trying to think of who would call CPS on me....I'm a wonderful mom!! Then come to find out this is a bill collector??? He said I had a hot check out from like 4-5 years ago, and that I needed to settle it ASAP, I told him I just had a baby and currently not working, then he asked what about your tax return?? I told him I wouldn't be getting one because I owe the IRS, then I said I would have my lawyer get in contact with him, and he said "Do you really have a lawyer.....or is it just a friend??".....WTF? Once I said the word "lawyer" he got extremely angry and started threatening legal action, I just hung up. I did contact my lawyer and hope to figure this out ASAP. Can they really refer to themselves as "CPS"???......I know they wouldn't say "Credit Protection Services" because then no one would call them back.....but this really upset me, and I don't think its right! Funny how this guy has like 3 different ext: this one was 116 thanks to everyone on here.

- Rhea| 1 replyI also received a phone call from a Stan Smith from CPS asking me about my dad. He said he was unable to share what exactly this "severe" matter was. He then proceeded to ask if my dad has been acting unusual or uneasy lately and asked if he planned on leaving town. I found that super weird! I wanted to look online to see what CPS was because the call seemed very strange. Its good I came across this message board to see what the call was really about.

- Shari replies to DeeFor anyone getting calls & threats from a company called CPS, asking for information and money, DON'T call them back, as they are a 200% scam. If you do answer the phone, and they start harrassing you for money & threatening you with jail or lawyers, you might want to keep a very loud whistle next to your phone & reply to them with a long, unforgettable response !!!

- CrystalI started getting these calls after I went to Publisher's Clearing House website and signed up. I also applied for a car loan over the internet around the same time, but never went through with a loan.
- Caller: CPS
- Call type: Debt collector
- CrystalI also forgot to mention that I am in no debt whatsoever, so it's couldn't be about a loan unless someone fraudently used my information for a loan.
