Thank you for all these posts! They've been calling me for about a week after creating a website on GoDaddy.com. I was just about to go to the website and enter my promo code! I've had another call from GoDaddy where they were quite helpful. I thought this was another service from GoDaddy! This is so sneaky and deceiving! Thanks again for sharing your experiences!

Got a call from this number and seem suspicious. Of course, I did not respond back. If you're hosting on a legitimate site, you should not need them nor would I trust them.

I got a call from them as well as I recently bought another website (I have many).  Search engines automatically spider websites so this is a scam.  They also harvested my number from the domain WHOIS data.  Unfortunately, there is not much you can do about this, even though it is against ICANN regulations to harvest data from registration data.  It can also be seen by anyone so it is not GoDaddy's fault.

Who is at fault is their hosting provider.  Their website pings out to IP 23.253.71.217 which means that Rackspace.com is hosting them.  I have filed a complaint with Rackspace to let them know they are providing services to someone engaged in illegal activities.  Now that Rackspace knows about this they may be held liable if they do not do anything.

Be sure to send your complaints to abuse@rackspace.com regarding this illegal telemarketer as they are the ones that are allowing the website to be online.

I bought a domain name from shopify and have been receiving this call from 18443224591. They have been calling since 5 days now. I went to their website and it looks like a deserted place. I am glad I found this thread on Google.  Thanks for the idea.

I too purchased a domain name and created a website on Nov 17.  The next day on Nov 18, I received a call from this company but from 1-844-586-5351.  My phone number is on the "do not call list', so not sure how they got my number.  Thanks every one who has shared their experience as I thought this was a legitimate offer.

Thank goodness for this list. So sad that we have to second guess everybody these days.

Thank you to everyone for your comments.  I, too, just received the infamous automated call and was VERY skeptical.  My website went live last week and just had the gut feeling that searchenginestartup.com was BS.  IT IS!!

I'm in Canada as well and just rec'd a voicemail with recorded msg. with the same details as KM from 1 Nov 2011.

I just started a new site, then low and behold, these guys called, to which I did not respond.  They left another message today saying the promo code to waive the set up fee is valid only through today.  We'll see how many times they put deadlines on the promo code.  Fortunately I use Vumber for website numbers so when they leave a message, I get an email saying I have a voice mail and a recording on the email.  Thanks for all the good info.
