they won't let me remove myself off their calling list! one of their operators is on the line with me right now and she's blabbing on about how this is NOT a scam. she's saying that all you need to do is go to a mandatory time share presentation, but you are in no way forced to buy anything. she says they get their profit from this "promotion" from the 1 in 7 people who do purchase a time share and from profits at the casino's at their various destinations. she was soooo rude! as if i'm going to just be like "okay, now that you've been such a [***] over the phone, i've changed my mind and i would like to take your free cruise". uhg, if you call them back and just persist and persist that you want to be removed from their calling list, eventually they will give in. it took me like 10 minutes, but she finally said "fine, if you really want to be removed, we can do that." their toll free number is 1-800-519-7502

Got yet another call from this company, this time I spoke with a very rude person who continued to tell me that I had won a two night three day cruse. I requested removal from their list. Also asked how they got my info. She told me it was submitted online. I told her that would not be correct as I don't give my phone number out online. Also I don't give out this particular number to anyone except family and friends. I give others my work number such as doctors, dentists and other business calls. She tried to tell me that I did fill out the information online and I told her I know what I fill out and don't fill out online and I definitely did not fill this out online. So then she tried to tell me that someone I know must have filled it out for me. I told her that would not be the case as I had already told them that I don't give this number out to anyone!! But then she insisted that someone must have filled it out for me. I told her that they must have gotten the information through some illegal means as no one but my employer and I have this number. I again requested that they remove me from the list. She said she would note that I was not to be called. All of this happened on my lunch hour and I have been called by them three times again since then.

These guys are actually a LOT of fun if you play them right.  I look forward to their calls now, and they call about every other day or so.

First off, if they tell you that you have to make a decision on THAT CALL, don't worry, they're lying.  They'll tell you that if you don't give a yay or nay that you'll miss the "opportunity" to go on this free cruise, but don't be alarmed -- they'll call you back.  It's the gift that keeps on giving!

I've done it all at this point: demanded references of people who have actually been on the cruise, asked the number of actual people who have taken the cruise and paid nothing, asked the number of ships in operation and how many voyages has it made.  Different answers every time.  Demand to talk to a supervisor, then the supervisor's manager, etc.  Shout profanities at random, then apologize.  Ask if they can hold while you go take a dump.

Your imagination is the limit.  Have fun!

Now, the reality is that yep, there is a boat and yep, it does cruise to the Bahamas.  HOWEVER, if you do accept the "free" cruise (you still have to pay tax and "dock fees"), you are expected to stay in the Ramada in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and attend (you guessed it) TIME SHARE MEETINGS!!

Anyone ever seen the Ass-Pen episode of South Park??  Yep!  It's like that!

Now, you don't *have* to stay at the Ramada, but if you don't, you're responsible for being at the dock at like 3 in the freakin' morning.  You're also responsible for getting yourself to Ft. Lauderdale whether you stay at the hotel or not.  Also, once on board, you pay for your drinks, food, entertainment, etc. and it's only a 3 days / 2 nights deal.

So, now that you know the truth about the scam, I hope you'll kick back and enjoy harassing their staff as much as I do.  Feel free to call them anytime; they run a 24-hour call center, eager to receive your badgering any time of day!  My phone says I've even called them in the middle of the night, but I must have been too drunk to remember...

I called the 1-800-519-7502 number back. It is Ramada Plaza Resorts.  I recently had a free credit report done on line which seems to have sparked all kinds os calls to my cell, home phone and email concerning credit cards and the works.  I think they are some kind of hackers.  I really feel very unsafe right now.

They call my work line EVERY day even on weekends and leave that obnoxious message about a cruise or whatever. When I finally called them to ask them to remove the number from their list today, a woman picked up saying, "hello?". It sounded like someone picking up a phone at home! When she asked me what my name  was, I had to tell them repeatedly that it was a business line under which I am sure my name was NOT listed and that my giving the number should suffice, she raised her voice and finally said, "OK, I'll remove it!"
I wish I could pick up the phone next time they call (I know they will!), however, I'm not at work at 9pm!

We got a call from these [***], too. I told them I am a lawyer and I am going to file suit on them personally for damages. I suggest everyone take the same approach. I was tempted to tell them I am a doctor and I am going to operate on their tiny little brain to remove the problem.

Today I got a call and they said I filled out a survey on line to go on a cruise. So he said for 249 per person with a $59 tax fee, i would go to fort laderdale floria for 3 days 2 nights, and then orlando flordia for 3 days 2 nights. He said all the food was paid too. Then from there we would go to the Bahamas on a cruise for 2 days 2 nights. So i told them no and he stared being rude and saying well then why did you sign up for it? He did so more talking to me and my fiance and i asked if he could call me back so i can think about it, he said no only one phone call per house, so his "supervisor" got on the phone and said sorry why dont you know if you want it? SO i was thinking it must not be a scam they sounded liget. I asked them millions of question and it sounded ok. SO i gave them my CC number, and they took our $126 like they said. And then said i would be getting a book with a reciet for 100% money back garrentee if i didnt want it. I hung up, went on the website they told me to www.myvacationsmoments.com and i noticed it was a scam, so i called and asked to cancel the lady said i could get my money back. Hung up canceled my CC. Called back and a diff person answered he said oh why you want to cancel started being rude. I said just cancel it ok. So it took a bit and he said in 7 to 10 days your money will be back into your account. Its just weird that the first gal said you cant get your money back, and then I call again and i can?? Its a scam. We will see if i do.

Same as all of the above.

They are using old phone lists. They use the name of my deceased father who has been gone for 32 years, they phone and state that the e-mail from -----(fathers name)@reborn.net appears on their request.

I started receiving these calls for my deceased father on 7-1-08 and have received calls from six or eight a day ever since. The slim bag Telemarketers have started calling with the same pretext.  "We are returning a request so the "Do not call list" doesn't apply to me." many different numbers call.

There must be a conection with the lists that are distributed as this is a sudden thing to receive calls for my father at a number that has been mine for 12 years.

I have caller ID and privacy manager on my landline with ATT.  I am,for now, keeping a log of the numbers.

I don't understand why the appropriate agency with the enforcement powers doesn't respond to the legal issue. The "Do not call list" was a good thing but if no action is taken against the "The "I'm returning a request" it will only get worse.

I don't understand why the FCC or the FTC can't do what we did and look at the number of on line complaints against specific violaters.

All they have to do is call one of these numbers and get on the list. I'm not sure how many civil servants it would take to do this.  It seems like it might be good to have a few knocks on doors by law enforcement and/or the phone company and stop the Ruse of "I'm calling back".

I got out of the gym and had a missed call from this number (1-800-203-9783 )  I called back and the guy answers the phone "Hello?"  So I didn't even think it was a company until he asked my name and said that I had "won" a free cruise.  He went on, seriously for 10 minutes about the accommodations, asking if I like to vacation, etc.  I let him go because I was bored, and hey I'm gonna listen to the details if there's a chance of going on a cruise!! When he got to the end and asked for my credit card number, I literally laughed and said there's not way I'm giving you that information over the phone.  At which point he transferred me to the "supervisor" who said "I understand you have a question or concern about our processing procedure?"  I was like umm, no I don't have a questions or concern, I'm just not going to give out my credit card information over the phone, if you want to mail me details or let me call you back after I do some research I will be more than happy to work something out.  And he got seriously got so pissy, "Maam, you called us, this is an inbound call, why would YOU call US and waste my time, blah"  I WAS LIKE YOU CALLED ME, I HAD A MISSED CALL AND HAD NO IDEA WHO IT WAS AND CALLED THE NUMBER BACK.  He went on and on about how Ramada is so impressive and notorious and tried to make me feel like an idiot for not have ever hearing of Imperial Cruise lines.  Ended up hanging up on him.

When a represetative hangs up the phone they have to enter a code. NI for not interested; NA for not available and so on and so on. There is also a check box for do not call list. The representative must have been confused ad thought the call code would do - they probably didn't even see the box.

I have experienced the same harassment as reported by the previous phone customers.

The subject phone number is listed below.

This started, with me, all at once.  This leads me to believe that phone number lists are sold and distributed rapidly.  This is the same as phishing on a computer.  They find out if a phone works and attempt to get information under the ruse of a request.

The phone companies are making millions of dollars from their blocked and unblocked toll free numbers and you can’t identify the name of the number holder as it is kept confidential by the company.  Apparently there’s too much money to be lost if the bad numbers were turned off.

The Telemarketers are using old phone lists. They use the name of my deceased father who has been gone for 13 years; they phone and state that the e-mail from “(father’s name) @reborn.net” appears on their request.  The name on the account was discontinued over 13 years ago.  I normally have a very quiet phone with only a few calls a week.

I started receiving these calls for my deceased father on 7-30-08 and have received calls from six or eight a day ever since. Many Telemarketers have started calling with the same pretext.  "We are returning a request so the "Do not call list" doesn't apply to me." many different numbers call.

Since 8-6-08, when I had caller ID and privacy manager installed I have received the following phone calls with hang ups or weird theatrics such as the same person imitating various ethnic accents:

800-809-8813 “US Medical Supply” with numerous names given on 7-30&31-08, this started the chain. 5x
866-852-2520” Lasic Vision Institute” which is/was located in Rancho Cordova. 3x
866-583-1670 A.I.G  “American International- Long Term Care Insurance Group”. 3 x
    866-480-0048
    800-259-7317
    800-519-7502 6 x
    240-247-5131
    800-258-7317 11 x
    800-584-4150 2 x
    866-583-1670
    800-259-1317
    415-545-0073
    248-247-5131
    800-259-7317

I have caller ID and privacy manager on my landline with ATT and am screening calls.  I am, for now, keeping a log of the numbers.

I don't understand why the appropriate agencies, with the enforcement powers, or the phone companies, don’t respond to the legal issue and customer/tax payer complaints. The "Do not call list" was a good thing but if no action is taken against the "The "I'm returning a request" ruse, it will only get worse.

Maybe we should start requesting our elected officials to respond to their constituents and enforce the law.  We passed a law against being phone spammed so let’s enforce it.  All the enforcing agency has to do is go to the phone company, secure owner information (subpoenas are easy) and take action including fining them and pulling the plug

I don't understand why the FCC or the FTC or the phone companies that we complain to can't do what we did and look at the number of on-line complaints against specific violators.  We pay taxes and phone bills.

All they have to do is call one of these numbers and get on the list. I'm not sure how many civil servants it would take to do this.  It seems like it might be good to have a few knocks on doors by law enforcement and/or the phone company and stop the Ruse of "I'm calling back" with “Do not call list” fines to pay for the effort.

My only suggestions are #1 don’t let them get to you.  Use caller ID and never answer unknown toll free numbers.  Use call screening and if the call is important they can leave a message.

I am going to keep submitting this same post with each toll-free hang up I get from different numbers.
