- Haldir17Their system sounds very close to Amex, the tones, the recorded voice, and the questions they ask you. But! It's all fake, they just want your ssn and card number! They will literally call 5 times a day or more, it's super annoying! I added them to my block list.
- Caller: Amex Scammers
- Shill Alert replies to TriciaLooks like a shill for the fraud posting lies and garbage here folks!!
This is a massive fraud - don't be fooled. - jhankeBeen getting calls from this number about problems with American Express (this is not a sales call...) Yeah right, computer generated call... Wish they'd get this fixed... although I ignore the call that happens for me a few times a week... it would be great to eliminate it all together.
- Caller: American Express
- Call type: Telemarketer
- willipp6Got the call from 800-592-1160 saying "this is American Express and this is not a marketing call......." I didn't answer but got this as a message. I have never had an American Express card. I also am on the no call list.
- Caller: American Express
- CDR JJCLike others before me, we have received multiple calls from 800-592-1160 that claim to be from American Express. The caller states ". . . this is not a sales call . . ." I did not return the call and now have the number blocked on our phone so that after one ring it is disconnected without going to our voice mail.
- Caller: Claims to be AMEX, but name on Caller ID is UNAVAILABLE
- Matt replies to John Boy in IllinoisHello, I just wanted to let you know that a phone number can not be stolen. I have worked in phone service for many years, including the billing systems and the central office, where phone lines all come together. You can not just "steal" a phone number. Yes, the scammed could spoof the number on caller ID, but if you call it back, it will go to American Express.
- MarieComes up on my caller I.D. Getting tired of these unwanted calls! Comes up as "Toll Free".
- carolI do not have and have never had an AMEX card so why would they be calling me??? Some of these postings here and other places say it is an AMEX number, some say it is not. It can't be both. I don't know what the game is, but I don't like it and am not answering next time they call. If it is their "bad credit" number, why are they calling me since I have never had an account with them?? Perhaps here is the answer. The scammers have figured a way to make the real AMEX number appear on the Caller ID but then if you hit call back, it goes instead to the scammer's number. You think you are talking to AMEX and give them your info to clear up the "problem". Sneaky.
PS: You need another category for Call Type: SCAMMER - Joe SReceived a call from this number twice. 1st time no message. 2nd time a couple hours later with a message asking to call back. They're calling my work number and I do have an AMEX card through work in which that was the only number provided for my account. AMEX should be concerned about possibly leaking information. I know others have stated that they don't have an AMEX card but that doesn't mean that they still don't have their information on file for possible marketing purposes and/or as a contact on somebody else's account.
- DaveI don't have an Amex Card so they have no reason to call me
- Caller: Amex
- jacksbHow do you get them to
stop calling ;(
? - larryI have received numerous calls from this number. Couple of times when I answered they hung up. The last time they stated my payment was overdue and would I like submit payment. I chose to hang up.
- Caller: AMEX
- Call type: Debt collector
- LauraDidn't answer the call but appears to be a scam.
- KennyI get calls at least 2x a day from this number. I called it and it asked for my credit card number, then my account number... I don't have an American Express nor does anyone in the household name then he asked for my SS# and I told him no he cannot that's when he said I should call the number on the back of my card...SCAM IN THE FIRST DEGREE! ALWAYS CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD DIRECTLY FROM YOUR ACCOUNT RECORD INFORMATION.
- Caller: SCAM American Express
- SusieHI tried to block this number but they are using "11" instead of " 1" to make the call. How can I block it?
- Farrah b.This number keeps calling and saying nothing or playing some bogus recording about important matters with Amex. I will be calling Amex directly to complain that they have possibly been hacked.
