How about answering the phone and telling them "wrong number".How are they supposed to know that unless you tell them?!

You people are [***]. This isn't CashLand. This is a collection agency based in Harrisburg, PA. If you don't know what you're talking about, don't post it as if you do. The best thing you can do is talk to them if it is not a debt that is yours. That is the quickest way to resolve the problem. Otherwise you could end up having to try and get a debt that is not yours off your credit report. So as I said best thing to do is just talk politely and then you'll probably get what you want done the quickest and easiest.

It is clear to me that these companies have a very poor means of confirming contact information.  The hospital I work at has been getting calls to several phones and searching for people that do not work here.  It is not the job of the company or person called to correct this, this lies with the collection agency which it is clear is focusing on obtaining income from any means possible.  At  this stage we are preparing for litigation due to harrassment issues.

    They Are Criminals!
2 years ago I did my taxes with them to save money. They made a mistake (one I had questioned when they told me I had a return because i should have received nothing) A month later they wanted the money back. Yes, i owed it to them, and I could easily give it to them, but it bothered me that when i got my tax return I told them they must have made a mistake and asked them to check certain items. It was exactly the item I thought it was that they missed. Unhappy I told them i wouldn't pay but of course legally I must. I did not like the tone of the shmuck talking to me and he kept calling my cell phone during the day and I am a teacher. He kept threatening to send it to a collection agency, i begged him please do...because he called several times after with this threat. i told him when a collection agency has it I will pay...it wasn't going to hurt any credit rating of mine...i am a home owner, car owner and have an excellent rating, I was not worried! They finally sent it to an agency, i immediately made a deal (collection agency will always deal) and it was paid. 2 years later...this week in fact, I am getting calls from them saying I owe 35 dollars! I told the woman I settled this 2 years ago and I was not going to be harrassed by them nor deal with it as whatever is going on is not my issue. Of course came the threats. i rambled on about how unconcerned i was as this was closed 2 years ago and I was completely uninterested in anything she was saying and she hung up on me. In my oppinion, Money Mart probably pulls stunts like these often...it is a small amount of money they are requesting, and people who may not be in my position (successful career, good credit, home owner, etc.)  might be afraid and just pay them. If it were not for the fact that i do not want to expell the energy I would actually go after THEM. They dont have a leg to stand on my bank records show the debt is payed. I imagine they will stop calling and if not...I will treat it as the usual unwanted telephone solicitors and simply say not interested thank you and hang up the phone.

Micah. Those people are NOT affiliated with anybody. They allegedly hack into people's accounts through sold/stolen databases, and then they tell the person to pay over the phone. I know this, because I have a payday loan that is NOT in collections whatsoever, and my balance was a lot lower than what they claim. These people left a voice-mail stating that "I have this such and such a balance, and (asked) me if I would pay it over the phone." My payday loan place does NOT do that. In fact, they only accept cash. That's a first red-flag right there. Be very careful of these people, and report them immediately. They are based out of Dayton, Ohio. I just looked it up via Google, and it gave a map of this location. Happy and safe holidays!

Sir...you don't owe them anything, period. They are NOT affiliated with anybody you owe money to. Trust me, they did the same to me. My payday loan account is up-to-date and positive, and I didn't owe nearly the amount(s) that they kept saying I owed via voice-mail. When I called back, it went to somebody else voice-mail, not theirs. Be very careful, report them, pay NOTHING to them, and happy holidays.

Actually, YoMama, it's neither. It's a group of scam-artists that claim affiliation with companies that have no idea who these people are. That being said, they are always asking for a person's financial and/or personal information. DON'T give them anything. I have a payday loan out, but it's in-check and up-to-date. Collections never calls me, unless it's not up-to-date, which as I said, it is. Report that number immediately. Happy Holidays.

these people called me out of the clear blue and started bombarding me with questions about some other person. i had no idea who or what they were talking about. the guy was rude and hung up on me. i called back and got transferred to the same guy and told him he had no right to call my number and then be rude and hang up. he said it was a debt collection and i told him that i owe no debts which is true, so it must have been some other person's problem. the guy was rude and hung up on me again!!! that should be illegal. his name was dale. this ought to be totally illegal and subject to criminal charges and harrassment.

awww little baby crying because you are too irresponsible to pay a debt???? YUP.
Don't get pissy with that guy telling you what's up.  I know it's hard to accept the TRUTH when it's smacking you in the face and you're too much of a coward to own up to it.
So you rip them off AND you're too big of a PANZY to answer the phone?  That's fine.  THey'll just ruin your credit.
YOU PEOPLE are the reason our country is in the HOLE.  You and the rest of the ENTITLEMENT SOCIETY.  Go vote for Obama again.

The company's name is "Cash America Advance Inc."

I admit that I do owe this company. Like many other people I got caught up in the "Payday Advance Cycle." I called them this morning and spoke to a young lady by the name of "Lisa". She was very nice and we were able to that care of the situation.

It Pains me to see how many of us are getting caught up in this type of debt, Because of a job lose, the elimination of overtime, running out of unemployment benefits etc…

    Suggestions:
1)Try to find a second part time job. (Hard to do right now.)
    2)Borrow from family and friends.
3)PLEASE try not to pay off payday loans by borrowing from another payday loan!
(I made this mistake and I’m paying for it now.)
    4)As a last resort….Bankruptcy..

    God Bless.

It's not a crime when they accept a check knowing you don't have the funds to cover it!  So get off your moral high horse!!  Everyone is having hard times due to the economy and high unemployment!!

Ha ha I know a few deadbeat Republicans too...This number calls my place of business and hangs up when I answer, I tried to call back but, since it is computer answered, I can't talk to anyone.

This number called me and when i called back, i went through prompts but couldn't get ahold of someone so i could make arrangements. Lately things have gotten difficult but I will pay what I owe. My advice is to call them back and see if it is your debt or if you are a reference, ask to be removed

So yesterday I got a call from this number and they said they were leaving a message for someone other than myself, however, the name they said was a friend of mine back in college in 2004. So I called them today to find out what was going on. I told the lady what the message said, and who they were looking for and she asked me for my  number, I gave her the number and she came back on the line and asked me if I knew anyone by my name. I said, that's me. She goes on to tell me about some debt I have since 2003 from a check cashing place. I explained to the lady that I was never in debt to that check cashing place and do not call me ever again about this. Back in 2002, I was in with the check cashing place. I paid my payday loan, but the store had a thief, who stole 1000's of dollars and quit. There were about 25 customers who were listed as "unpaid" but actually paid. The company refused to listen to any of our complaints. I still to this day have my receipt that I paid my balance off. Besides, back then when you paid it off, you got your check back, If I hadn't paid off the debt, they would have cashed in the check into my checking account, which I had all the way up to 2010 then i moved out of state. So Cashland needs to set their records straight, I have been fighting them now for 10 years. Its time to call it a loss (not b/c of me, but b/c of their theiving employees)
