This is a number from American Express Card. I called back and found out that three transactions on my card in last 24 hours: $678 from VONs, $750 from Albertson and $90 from Mobil gas station. Sure enough, none of them were mine. I think AMEX fraud department did a great job blocking all these transactions.

STRONGLY RECOMMEND you follow up with AMX if you receive this VM.  It is NOT spam.  I received a VM regarding possible fraudulent use of my AMX card.   I called the number on the reverse of the card.  A substantial charge had been made 4 hours previous I didn't make.  AMX was very professional about it.  The card is cancelled and a new card is being sent.

It IS American Express. I simply called the AMEX number on my card to verify the message on my voice mail and yes, some [***] tried to buy goods in England for $1000 on my card.

I've gotten 3 calls from this number in less than an hour. I guess it's from American Express account security. Great to know they take care of their customers. The only problem is I've never had an American Express card!

I received a call from this number.  What's interesting is that they called my home phone number that I do not ever use.  Frankly, I do not even know the number.  I went on-line to check the phone log and noticed that a message was left.  I do not have an Amex card and never have.  Probably fraudulent or a debt collector...  Careful about all of these posts claiming legit.  Probably posts from employees at agency...  As has been said, only call the number on the back of your card.

This is a legitimate call from AmEx about possible fraudulent account activity.  If you don't answer and respond to their inquiries they may block your card.

This is NOT a scam number.  Call is from American Express Card Protection Services.  A call from this number means your card has been compromised.  I don't know what all the entries are about that state there were phishing calls from this number, but if this number calls you, do NOT ignore it!  Call the number on the back of your card, as I did.  After reading posts here, I was SUPER paranoid about who I was speaking to when I responded to my call, but I can assure you, it is Amex.

So, you used a British business to help you.       As you will  see from the Domain Registration, it is not a business but a Private Individual.
    Domain registration:

    Domain name:
        debtmanagementhelpline.co.uk

    Registrant:
        mr Stephen Garrett

    Registrant type:
        UK Individual

    Registrant's address:
The registrant is a non-trading individual who has opted to have their
address omitted from the WHOIS service.

I suspect you are telling porkies.    If you deal with British people you should know what that means.

The call I received from this number WAS from American Express about fraud on my AMEX card. I did not answer thinking it was for some sort of scam. The number is different from the number on the back of my card. I called the number on the back of my card after I found an email from them about possible fraud on my card. Online order in Mexico for over $5,000. They declined it, my card has been cancelled will have a new card in a few days. They said if you should answer a call and don't believe the person on the other end is with who they say they are, just tell them you will call back, and then call the phone number listed on the back of your card.

Right I get it the # is legit but it is best to call the number on your card for verification. However, the first post on here is from 7 years ago what the heck are Amex doing to stop people scamming your card in the first place. They seem to be reactive rather than proactive.   Horse........barn door. Too little..Too late.

A scam call that followed scam/phishing emails about fraudulent charges to AMEX card. Message urged to call the 800-824-9289 number, caller ID said American Express. Just because caller ID says American Express that does not guarantee that the caller is American Express. DO NOT push the call back button. If in doubt call the real American Express customer service. If this number would be legitimate it would be listed on AMEX website - IT IS NOT.

It is a SCAM PHONE NUMBER, DO NOT PROVIDE  Information to them. Best yet, don't input any last 5 digits of your card to the dialog box on website after you logged on your account that appeared on your website. It redirected you to the scam webpage.

First received text regarding potential fraud charge.  Thought it was a phishing attempt because I did not recognized the card #.  I then got an email, called Amex and confirmed the fraud attempt on an airline Amex card I do not use much. This is the official fraud number they gave me to call to get a new card sent to me.

This is the real Amex. I got both text messages and emails from them about fraudulent charges. They called me and reversed the charges. You can google the number and it comes up on their site.

This is definitely a phishing text. Was told that an AMEX card had fraud on it and to call that number.  I called the AMEX number on the back of my card and they did not have any fraud on my card.
