Rec'd a call from Matt with Retirement Group.  Msg said he's sorry he missed me but since he promised he'd get back to me, he's calling (as if i'd called him) and said he wanted to discuss new legislative changes regarding my retirement account.  Others in our company rec'd calls also so I sent an email to all letting them know he's phishing.

Same deal, no caller ID, no real info just a coy message that implies he's already got a relationship. deleted....

Got the same call, now it's Mike instead of Matt. The big red flag hear is if you're a legitimate business, why come up on caller ID as PRIVATE.

We recently had a change to our pensions, that was mentioned in the news so our company has been flooded with these calls. Here is the information we received.

The number left in the voicemail (800-900-5867) corresponds to The Retirement Group, an investment company. This company has been cited in a lawsuit in the past for hiring people from other investment companies who bring their client lists with them. Although the lawsuit for this activity was not deemed illegal, it most certainly can be considered unethical. The agents involved in the scam try to entice the clients away from their old employer to the new one. The phone call could be considered an enticement or a more devious plan, such as to commit identity theft. It is not recommended an employee call them back should you receive such a voicemail.

I did received call from these number.  They been calling my old office number.  I never call them back.

I received a "restricted" call message from someone too.  The message was cut off at the beginning.  I'm staying away from this company

Received call from Mike at Financial Strategies, same number as above. Left a message as if he knew me, saying that he was sorry he missed me and wanted to "follow up" and make sure I had gotten information regarding the luncheon to talk about the changes in our 401K and Pension Plan.  Not associated in any way with my company.  Did not call him back.  Caller ID said unknown number so did not pick up.

I just received the same call from Mike..  Not calling back!

I just received a similar call from Mike at Financial Strategies calling from (800) 900-5867 and he also said he was sorry he missed my call.  He wanted to discuss changes to our pension and 401K plan and hold another luncheon.  I forwarded this to my benefits department.  This is definitely not sanctioned by our benefits team.

Received unsolicited call from 800-900-5867. "Lisa" left a message stating she was following up on a message she'd left last week about "the telecom seminar for Verizon employees." I think this is very deceptive, attempting to make you think she was a Verizon employee. Phone displayed caller as "unknown number."

From "Lisa", same message as anon above.  Weirdly, my husband is a Verizon employee.  Glad I was suspicious before calling back to the number.

RECEIVED A MESSAGE FROM LISA FROM THE RETIREMENT GROUP TO FOLLOWUP THE MESSAGE SHE LEFT LAST WEEK? BUT I HAD NOT HEARD FROM HER BEFORE? THE REASON I AM REALLY UPSET IS THAT SHE CALLED MY HOME LANDLINE AND SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED MY EMPLOYER, VERIZON! GOING TO IGNORE THE MESSAGE, OF COURSE, BUT HOW DID THEY GET MY HOME NUMBER, GRRRR...?

Mike from the "Retirement Group" left a message with this number as call back number re: changes in our retirement plan (which there are no changes in my company's plan).  Caller ID says 888-888-8888, which is against FCC caller id rules.

Same scam, new number.  Caller id says 888-888-8888 and this is the call back.  I only got half a message so I couldn't get the name.

Same scam as above--"Jennifer" called me and said she was getting back to me to speak about a recent restructuring at my company.  Acted like she was an old friend.  Stay away from these scammers!

Same as others but mine from "Kevin".  Said he's getting back on the info he emailed (of course he didn't).
Calling back found out they are the Retirement Group.
Web site is: http://www.theretirementgroup.com/ which contains the 800-900-5867 phone number left in the message to call back to.

Talking to others at the company, they seem to be systematically calling everyone in our phone number block--giving the same lie about following up to the email.

Yep, similar story... CallerID showed 888-888-8888. The perky voice mail said she's Tonia at The Retirement Group- "I had promised to get back with you about the next [my-employer's-name] luncheon on the 29th at Holiday Inn Express" on XYZ Road in my-employer's-city. "I've reserved a seat for you and a guest, call 800-900-5867 to provide your guest's name."
As stated above, internet shows it's a San Diego company (I'm in the midwest, and employer doesn't use this firm).
