- BlueFox[***] want your financial info report them to FCC
- WillEvery time they call they just hang up or don't even bother to leave a message.
- Caller: don't know for sure
- George HymanI made the mistake of answering one of these calls - it just said "stay on the line for an important message" about 8-10 times, never connected me. Interestingly, when my voicemail answers, it never leaves a message which would imply that these idiots can distinguish between a vm answer and a "real" one.
Got them on both my home and cell phones. - jamesGet an air horn and blast it into the phone then tell them to stop. This needs to be a response that all people do to all # that do this. I know it sounds super mean but if we all did this and they callers knew to expect this they would all stop. I know they would use a computer to do it but the second you talk to a person do the same with the air horn.
- Zhi WUI am receiving calls 5 call per day it is annoying me please let me know how to stop this calls
- S.I like the horn idea. I was less creative though. After asking them politely several times to remove my number from their lists I just decided to insult them. In French. Seems to be effective :-)
- Caller: Discover Cards
- ButchThey call me several times a day. On first call they left message, "friends". That was it. They shafted me on a payback agreement I had with them. So I told them to charge off what I owed and that's when the calls started.
- Caller: ??
- Susan OstlerDiscover called my home phone over and over again, never leaving messages. I answered one of the calls and they asked for someone named Hoa. I told the person on the phone there is no one named Hoa living at my address. They called several more times after that.
I called the number back after searching and finding this website and told them to not call me any more. There is no Hoa living here and that I am a Discover card customer with my name, phone number and address listed. I told them I would call the police or the phone company and report them if they called again.- Caller: Discover
- Jim in Ohio| 1 replyThis is NOT - Discover Card, it is a COLLECTION AGENCY that Discover Card has given your name and all the numbers you gave them when you applied for a Discover Card. The company is actually Portfolio Recovery Associates out of Norfolk, VA with a 'spoof' call center in Kearns, UT (typical numbers are 801.902.2976 and 801.902.2429). Best Bet - file a formal complaint against this VERY abusive organization with The US Justice Department, Attention Steven Curran, Deputy Chief, 950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, CRIMINAL DIVISION, PHB Division, Washington, DC 20503.
FILE A COMPLAINT PEOPLE !! - Fighting Back !!FIRST - everyone receiving calls from this bunch of blood suckers should know it is _not_ Discover Card, it is a collection agency named Portfolio Recovery Assoc out of Norfolk, VA (with 'spoof' location in Kearns Utah). While they have obviously been put up to this by Discover Card, and represent themselves _as_ 'Discover Card', they are NOT Discover Card (or any other lender/company they claim to represent). Equal complaints should be made against both this organization AND to any company they claim to represent (such as Discover Card) for turning you over to this sort of abusive organization and providing them with your phone numbers given when you set up the account.
Here is what the CEO of this bunch said July 30, 2009, about all of YOU they are robo-dialing:
“This is Steven Fredrickson...some of these comments towards me are childish and shameful, and it doesn't surprise me that those who are deadbeats, would make childish, immature remarks like this. As to our collection procedures...we carefully follow the collection laws of our state and anyone claiming otherwise is a bald faced liar - it is YOU people who should be in prison for being a thief...not me!” (scroll down comments: https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-801-902-2429/2 )
Apparently this company is being sued by the Attorney General of Missouri for fraudulent debt collection practices related to their abusive debt collection procedures.
Secondly – the Kearnes, UT people are using several numbers (such as 801-902-2429; 801-902-2976) both of which geo-locate to LAT 40.67 LONG -112.01 so pull those coordinates up Google Earth and it looks like someone in a residential neighborhood is running these calls out of their home with a Robo-Dialer. The Norfolk, VA coordinates for the home office are Latitude 36.841488°, N 36 ° 50' 29.4" 36 ° 50.4893', Longitude -76.213085 °, W 76 ° 12' 47.1" -76 ° 12.7851'
Now you know where to drop that 'blue-water ice' when you fly over at 30,000 ft ;)
Portfolio Recovery Associates’ website is: http://www.portfoliorecovery.com
Now you can start burning up THEIR phone lines and servers with bunches of daily calls and emails !!!

- GupkynJust got a call from them using my first name & asking to call them back urgently with no other information in the message. They did not even state who was calling. I do not have now nor have I ever had any type of discover account. I also have no payments that are missed or late on any accounts with other credit companies I do have. Thanks for posting all this information everyone, it's very helpful. I'll just ignore them for now & if they persist I'll take action further.
- Annoyed PersonA guy called me from this number on March 4. He asked if I was (my full name) without identifying himself, which is one of my pet peeves. You're calling me...tell me who you are. I said I wasn't me and asked if I could take a message. Still without identifying himself, he said that he was glad to reach me and I interrupted and told him AGAIN that I wasn't who he was looking for. He asked if I know (my name). I said I did and asked if I could take a message. He left a name and number and said he was calling from Discover. I assured him I'd deliver it to myself. Once I found out he was from Discover, I checked my account. I was on a payment plan with them and it’s expiring this month so I assumed he was calling about that. I called them a few days later to set up a new plan. I'd assumed the call I got last week was regarding this but I've already handled it and just got another call on March 10. Again, the representative (this time a woman) asked for me without saying who she was or where she was calling from. I asked, "Who's calling?" Again, she asked if I was (my full name) and ignored my request to know who she was. I asked again but as she started to answer, I decided I didn't want to talk to any idiot who didn't tell me up front who they were and hung up on her. I’m sure they’ll call again at some point. That’s when I’ll tell them to remove me from their list.
- Caller: Discover - but they don't tell you that up front
