It's their collections dept.  It's not a "call center" or "customer service".  They think you are late on your payments (whether you are or not is irrelevant).  They aren't selling anything.

my 'sense of satisfaction' from calls like this is ( with my new smartphone ) assign the number to a name in your contact list ( in my case, their name is " bogus " ) and one contact name can hold up to 8 different numbers.

I then  " configure "  my smartphone to never ring, and go straight to voicemail when it gets a call from " bogus ".

Voila .... I never get disturbed or no about it until I happen to look at missed calls list .....
    makes me smile everytime.

These people call me 10 to 12 times a day, I always ignore them, don't know who they are but I wish they would just quit calling!!!  What does one have to do to keep these people from calling sooo much?

    Best approach I've found.....
I'm with you John (Previous Poster).....

I do not, by the way, have an account with Discover.

First of all I don't have a home phone. Last year I upgraded cell phones from an old flip style to a smartphone. The phone allows me to select individual ringtones for each contact - or use the default ringtone - "or" - send incoming calls from a given number straight to voice without ringing my phone. This is a fantastic option for annoying calls. I got a call from the number you guys are talking about today. Didn't recognize so didn't answer. No voice message was left. I Googled the number, found this thread (and many others), learned it was Discover and immediately added it to my contacts and selected the "send straight to voicemail" option. They are perfectly welcome now to call me 10 times a day, as early or as late as they like. I'll never even know they called. If your phone has this capability, take advantage of it. If it doesn't - keep this feature in mind next time you upgrade your phone.

Well, I called the number on the back of my Discover card and it appears to be legit. My phone number was added as the business phone number on someone else's account so the rep suggested that maybe a digit was entered wrong and then simply removed my number from their account. She reminded me of Discover's fraud protection so I am reassured. :)

This is Discovers phone number. I just got off the phone with them, cancelling my card and disputing fraudulent charges. They told me that this number shows up from their autodialer and that they dial thousands of numbers and only have people pick up a fraction of them when a customer gets on the line. I asked that they note that I don't want any more calls, he said he put that on my account and that the calls would stop. Nice guy, too bad he works for a company like Discover.

It's been annoying receiving calls everyday from this number. I am not a Discover card holder since 2007 when I retired.  We do not have any credit card at all from any bank now.  We do not answer calls that we do not recognize the number.  Their number been blocked 3 days ago and yet kept calling.  Our phone rings 3 times, then the call get blocked.  They never stop dialing.  IT'S A SCAM, BEWARE.
