This was happening to me, 3 calls in a row 3 times a day for several days.  Based on the advice on this and other websites, I called GTL customer service directly (877.856.3184) and they blocked my number from being called.  Thank goodness this is over!

So how do we get the calls to stop.  We shouldn't have to answer their questions in order to be dropped from their call list.

In order to receive a phone call from an inmate, they must add your number to a call list.  Once they do this, you must either agree to or deny them the ability to call.  This is an automated system.  No scam associated with it, but they will continue to call until a response is replied.

I am getting recorded calls multiple times each day.  I wish the calls to stop
immediately.  Have had no success reaching anyone by phone numbers listed

This is a call from Global*Tel Link, a company that sets up accounts so that inmates in Virginia Department of Corrections may make phone calls... If someone is in jail and wishes to call you, they must add you to their call list. When they add you, you will get a phone call from this number. This is just them trying to verify that it is you, and that you wish to allow the inmate to call you. It's an automated recording, just listen to the prompts to either allow the inmate, (they will tell you their name.) to call you or not.

I have a crazy ex in prison in VA who's been trying to get my number added to his approved call list. if you follow the steps it will tell you who the inmate is thats trying to reach you. At that point you will have the option to accept or deny the request.

This is not a telemarketer. This is an automated system provided by Global Tel Link, a provider of phone service to correctional facilities. If you have received calls, it is because an inmate has dialed your phone number. This automated system is asking for permission to add your phone number to an inmate's call list. Follow the directions to deny/approve your number or contact Global Tel Link to block it.

Is there something about typing in all capital letters that turn you on or something? I mean get real you sound like you are yelling at everyone.

Aunt in Roanoke VA (85 years of age) continuously reciving calls from 804-674-1535 and it is really is beginning to upset her.  Her girlfriend (of Roanoke VA also) alerted me (I live in Richmond) of this and asked me to look into it.  I was quite surprised to see so many links about it - this is what I received from her friend...

Since it is a Richmond # I wonder if you know anything about who this is?? She says it is a recording and then three people come on and talk then a man says " it is nice knowing you". She is very uncomfortable about this. I told her to call the better business bureau, but she has not. ... Take care...

I received 3 back to back calls from this number and when i called bk it was automated

This telephone number has called my son's cellular phone 15 times since March 14, 2011. I want to find out who owns this telephone number and I want it blocked from calling my son's phone.

Get through the automated answering, wait to talk to a human ("calls answered in the order they are received,") he or she will ask you for the phone number that is calling you (it's slightly different for each prison,) your phone number, and claim to put a block on it.

Help! I keep getting these phone calls. I want to get rid of them but now I see how much people have trouble on them!! I always hang up and never answer big how do I get rid of this bull? My friend has. An app and she searched the number 804 674 1535 it said it was someone in Richmond va and it's his cell phone. He called me 9 times between today and yesterday.. I'm just gonna call the police on him

Success in blocking number from 'Eastern Financial'.  Started getting these calls this week from 804 674 1535 caller id shows as Eastern Financial.  Based on other posts I called GTE 877 856 3184.  They validate numbers that inmates want to call - prior to allowing inmates to call the numbers.  Based on our number the operator said that an inmate from Sussex Prison added our number to the list.  We do not know anyone in prison and I asked that our number be blocked and they accommodated this.  My guess is that inmates add any numbers they can - perhaps this is some type of scam that they are trying to run from prison.   Block the number thru your provider if you can or call GTE to block.

Does anyone know how to stop these calls, other than answering the phone. My grandma is getting these calls all of a sudden and it is really bothering her. I guess I am gonna have to go to her house and sit there until the call comes in and follow the prompts.

for the record...IT *IS* A CORRECTIONAL FACILITY. geez. its not a scam or anything go through the prompts and opt out. its not that hard. also GTL is global tell link or something like that . they are the billing company the prison goes through.
