Honest mistake. I think many people are making the same mistake.

I posted this a while back but was wrong about my assessment. (805) 637-7243 is NOT suspected spam, a scam, telemarketing, or phishing.

(805) 637-7243 = (805) MESSAGE

It is a T-Mobile voicemail number. It will show up when a T-Mobile user has a voicemail (or Boost Mobile, Mint Mobile, Consumer Cellular, Tracfone, etc., or any carrier using T-Mobile towers/network).

When I checked my vm's, I had spam messages and confused the spam messages with the T-Mobile voicemail access number.

Same goes for (805) 637-7249.

I think many who are reporting this number to "whocallsme" are checking their voicemails and are being pelted with robocalls, spam, telemarketing, and other nuisance messages. They are confusing the T-Mobile voicemail number with the nuisance messages.

Scrolling through some of the posts for (805) 637-7243, I see comments saying "...how do I block (805) 637-7243 for good..."?? because they think the spam messages are originating from the T-Mobile voicemail number.

I was responding to a suspicious post (since removed) that was commenting falsely about xxx-xxx-7249. It appears that xxx-xxx-7249 is still a Tmobile number for accessing voicemail.

This thread is concerned with 805-637-7243 - and web searches on this number yield results that are as mixed up as a dog's breakfast. Just look at this thread on the Tmobile Community site:

The posts over there are all over the map. Checking the thread over on our sister site, 800Notes there are 176 pages of posts going from 2008 up to the post you left on 12/25/24 - and posts there again are all over the map:  https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-805-637-7243/176

There are many posts on the internet saying that both xxx-xxx-7249 and xxx-xxx-7243 are both Tmobile voice mail numbers, and therefore are safe. Having 2 numbers with identical functions seems off to me. Seems worth a Yellow Flag at least.

Is 805-637-7243 a legit and safe Tmobile number?
I won't say right now if the number is 100% safe or not. There are posts about the number being spoofed, which adds to the confusion. I am sure we would all like to see some links to Tmobile info that settle the issue.

Until then, I would be careful about calls from/to this number, esp if asked to enter PINs.

Well said.  There is a T-mobile Community page questioning the identity of this number as well but it is 4 years old. No one from T-mobile responded to clarify.  T-mobile seems terribly silent on the subject. Call back gets, "You've reached the voicemail system.  If you have a mailbox on this system, press star.  Please enter your 10 digit phone number. I entered a random string and got, "Sorry that number is invalid."  It does seem to be a voicemail system but as you've pointed out reports are confusing and some spoofing may be at play.
